The delicate harmonic beauty of this piece is truly stunning. Though short in length, there is immense opportunity for magical expressive moments. With close harmonies weaving in and out of consonances and unisons and flowing passages paired with moments of rhythmic energy, there is so much music to be made. A repeating ending of layered melodies that gradually fades al niente will have your audience holding their breath. Composed as a set of three compositions, also look for Day of Fire and Sun (15/3898H) and Home–Thoughts, from Abroad (15/3844L).

Georg Kreisler - that's sharp, profoundly dark humor! The Singphoniker have arranged Georg Kreisler's most famous songs for male ensemble and recorded on CD. The corresponding sheet music edition for female choir SSAA with piano accompaniment was published by Schott Music (Georg Kreisler - Lieder und Chansons, ED22736). In addition to this, individual editions of all songs from the sheet music album are available: It is loaded to the summer party in the garden, you spend a good time with food, drink and pleasant company. However, this is supplemented shortly thereafter by several hungry tigers, whereupon the host sits at the end of the piece again alone on his terraceand sips with relish on his glass of wine. What a (tiger) party!

Inspiration for the Three Motets op. 39 was a visit to the romanesque church of Trinita dei Monti. On 20 Dec 1830 Mendelssohn wrote to his parents: The French nuns sing there, and it is wonderfully lovely. ... Now, one should know one more thing: that one is not allowed to see the singers. Therefore I have come to an unusual decision: I will compose something for their voices, which I rememer exactly.... Score available separately - see item CA.4070300.
