Rob Goorhuis schreef zijn klarinetconcert in 2006-2007 voor de klarinettist Daan Kuiper. De compositie heeft een klassieke indeling. Het eerste deel in de sonatevorm presenteert twee contrasterende thema's, die op een fantasierijkewijze tegen elkaar worden uitgespeeld. Diverse solo-instrumenten vervullen daarbij een prominente rol. Daarbij valt op dat doorwerkingselementen al in de expositie gestalte krijgen. Het rustige tweede deel is een variatievormin een zangerig stijl. Het doet denken aan een canzona. Het ongecompliceerde laatste deel is een rondo. Het luchtige karakter daarvan wordt onderstreept door de pittige ritmiek.

Goetheâ??s Faust has already been set to music by various renowned musicians, such as Berlioz, Busoni and Spohr, and indeed Charles Gounod, who built his eponymous opera around the tale. Gounodâ??s Faust is primarily known for its lovely melodies and its beautifully expressive vocal parts and subtle orchestrations. One of the high points of this opera is doubtless this impressive Cavatina (â??Salut, demeure chaste et pureâ?). Wil van der Beek has arranged the Cavatina with the euphonium as solo instrument.Goethes Faust is in het verleden al door verschillende componisten - waaronder Berlioz en Spohr - op muziek gezet. Ook Charles Gounod gebruikte Faust voor zijn gelijknamige opera. Zijn versie staat bol van prachtige melodieën en uiterst expressieve zangpartijen in een gera_x001C_ffineerde orkestratie. The world-famous Hungarian composer Kamilló Lendvay (b. 1928) has written not only operas, oratorios, cantatas, symphonies, concertos, chamber music and solo instrumental works but also a considerable number of pieces for wind ensembles. His Wind Symphony, composed in 2007-2008, consists of four movements: I. Invocation of the Muse - II. Sunrise in Copacabana - III. The Iguazu Falls - IV. Rio Carnival. The work was written for professional ensembles and premiered in Szeged on April 16, 2010, performed by the Concert Wind Ensemble of the Faculty of Music of Szeged University, conducted by József Csikota.

Psalm XIX: The Heavens Declare was written by the Italian composer, writer, and theorist Benedetto Marcello (1686-1739). By profession Marcello served as a governor and chamber-lain in Italy, although he is well-known for his harsh satires of contemporary coposers, such as Vivaldi and Lotti, As a composer, Marcello was ingenious and imaginative; his works include opera librettos, concertos, vocal music, and psalm settings in cantana style. This particular psalm setting has become popular for organ, and, thanks to the talent of arranger Barry Toombs, is part of the repertoire of the Westwind Brass. Mr. Toombs's brass quintet arrangement of The Heavens Declare calls for the optional B Piccolo Trumpet in the 1st Trumpet part. It is preferred that the 1st trumpet player use a piccolo trumpet. However, if one is not available, B trumpet may be uses as a substitute.

The town of Zevenhuizen (Seven Houses) in the Dutch province of Groningen conceived the idea to assemble 777 musicians for an experimental open air concert. Within that context, Jacob de Haan was commissioned to write a special composition for the local music society Concordia on the occasion of its fiftieth anniversary. The full number of musicians could not be realized entirely, but the performance was a great happening nonetheless. Now, the music has been published in a compilation, with the most appealing melodies in a varying style of rock music and ballads. The compelling closing theme of Music Xperience will linger in the minds of many listeners and players long after the concert has ended.

Antonio Vivaldi stands, with Handel and J.S. Bach, as one of the titanic figures of late Baroque composition. Not only was he lauded as a composer of vocal and instrumental works both sacred and secular, he was the most prolific composer of his age - in addition to hundreds of vocal works (including forty-nine operas), he composed five hundred concerti. The Four Seasons are by far the best known, with the second movement, Largo, portraying time spent by a roaring fire listening to the rain pounding against the window. This piece attempts to portray atmospheric pictures through music. The opening section evokes the somewhat misty and hazy early morning atmosphere surrounding the ancient monument. When the band reaches its first dynamic climax it is as if the massive boulders are audible, even touchable through the use of minor 3rd chords. The main theme - constructed on the notes CAFBG symbolises the arrangement of the central boulders in the shape of a horseshoe, which forms the focal point of this huge collection of stones. Towards the end of the work you will experience a fantastic effect when five soloists play a five part hymn whilst other members of the band create a specialatmosphere by imitating a choir of monks and druids.
