Antonin’s New World is an excellent piece of musical theatre featuring a comedy act for triangle soloist and band. The music itself does not sound comical, being based on Anton Dvorak’s Symphony in E Minor (‘From the New World’), but the right mix of seriousness and humour brings a surprising effect. With a bit of acting talent from your triangle soloist, this interpretation of the well known classical melody will be a major hit. Whether you choose Antonin’s New World as a “triangle solo†novelty piece or simply as a delightful adaptation of Dvorak’s immensely popular Ninth Symphony, both the band and the audience will love it!Dieses Werk kann ad libitum mit einem Triangel-Solisten und Blasorchester als Komödie in Szene gesetzt werden.

Antonin Dvorak first premiered his New World Symphony at Carnegie Hall in December of 1893 with the goal to bring American musical sensibility to European classical music. The second movement, labeled Largo, contained the melody that would later be identified as Goin’ Home. This well-crafted adaptation of that beautiful melody for concert band contains all the elements of the original orchestral version that has moved orchestral concert patrons for over a century. Expert scoring and careful orchestration techniques will ensure success with all ensembles. We think this outstanding arrangement will become a concert band classic for many years to come. Our highest recommendation!

Czech composer Antonin Dvorak is best-known for his beautiful string-quartets, his symphonies (especially nr.9 'From the New World'), and his Slavonic Dances Op. 46 and 72. Dutch composer and arrranger Jan Bosveld adapted two dances (nrs. 4 and 7) from his opus 46 to the wind-band medium. Alternating between the virtuoso and the melancholy, these lovely little pieces for orchestra above all provoke responses of instant recognition with your audiences. Gobelin Music Publications.

The year 2004 marked the 100th anniversary ofthe death of Antonin Dvorák. In 1879 Dvorákwrote this Polonaise as a commission for thecommittee organising the festivities for theirfamous national dance festival. Many famousCzech composers wrote dances specially for thisevent. This Polonaise in three movements, with itsfine melody lines, deserves to be more than just anoccasional work, however. Wil van der Beek’sconcert band arrangement does justice to theoriginal piece. This hauntingly beautiful melody is probably the mostfamous to come from the pen of Czech composer,Antonin Dvorák. Stephen Bulla’s transcription of‘Largo’ from the ‘New World Symphony’ will helpyour students focus on expressive playing, and bringgreat delight to all with the soothing nostalgicmelody.
