The main theme of this composition was created on a clear, starry night on the 10th of August. While writing it, the Italian composer Angela Ciampani was inspired by her son Lorenzo and the sight of stars over the green hills of Umbria. Initially, it was a short solo for trumpet and piano: subsequently, Jacob de Haan extended and rewrote the composition for euphonium solo and band. This arrangement was created for the celebration of the 170th and 20th anniversaries, respectively, of the concert bands of Monteleone d'Orvieto and Citt della Pieve.

Het hoofdthema van deze compositie werd gecreëerd in de nacht van 10 augustus, een van die heldere nachten met sterren die zachtjes vallen om de dromen niet te wekken. De Italiaanse componiste Angela Ciampani werd bij het schrijven ervan ge nspireerd door haar zoon Lorenzo en de sporen van vallende sterren verspreid over de groene heuvels van Umbrië. In eerste instantie betrof het een korte solo voor trompet en piano, vervolgens heeft Jacob de Haan de compositie uitgebouwd en herschreven voor euphoniumsolo en blaasorkest. Aanleiding hiervoor was de viering van de 170e en 20e verjaardag van de harmonieorkesten van respectievelijk Monteleone d'Orvieto en Citt della Pieve.

Das Hauptthema dieser Komposition entstand in der Nacht des 10. August einer dieser sternenklaren Nächte, in der die Sternschnuppen sanft vom Himmel fallen, um die Träume der Schlafenden nicht zu stören. Die italienische Komponistin Angela Ciampani wurde bei der Komposition durch ihren Sohn Lorenzo und die Spuren der Sternschnuppen über den grünen Hügeln Umbriens inspiriert. Was ursprünglich als kurzes Solostück für Trompete und Klavier konzipiert war, wurde später von Jacob de Haan erweitert und für Solo-Euphonium und Blasorchester neu geschrieben. Der Anlass hierfür waren die Feiern zum 170. und 20. Jubiläum der Blasorchester von Monteleone d'Orvieto bzw. Citt dellaPieve.

La compositrice italienne Angela Ciampani a été inspirée par son fils Lorenzo et les traces des étoiles filantes dispersées par-dessus les collines vertes d’Ombrie. A l’origine, l’œuvre consistait en un court solo pour trompette et piano : par la suite, Jacob de Haan a étendu et réécrit la composition pour euphonium solo et harmonie l’occasion de la célébration des 170e et 20e anniversaires des orchestres de Monteleone d’Orvieto et de Citt della Pieve respectivement.
