The Spirit of Christmas is a medley of charming Christmas carols, all with an international character. The medley consists of the following five carols: Away in a Manger - The First Noel - It Came Upon the Midnight Clear - O Come, All YeFaithful and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. A four-part choir part in English has been added which can be used ad lib. or you can also opt for singing the melody line only, for example with a soloist and/or the congregation. The arrangementis not too high pitched so that the work can also be used in combination with a children's or High School choir.

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen appeared in print for the first time in William Sandy’s Christmas Carols Ancient and Modern in 1833, although it was believed to have been written many years earlier. Today, God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen is one of the most loved and popular English Christmas songs of all time. Italian composer and arranger Lorenzo Bocci fell in love with the delightful melody and created an arrangement that will be perfect at any Christmas concert or event.

Over de vraag of dit kerstlied uit de vijftiende of de achttiende eeuw stamt, zijn de geleerden het niet eens. Wel treffen we het voor het eerst in gedrukte vorm aan in het jaar 1833, in het gezangenboek Christmas Carols Ancient andModern van William Sandy. Hoe dan ook, dit lied behoort al vele eeuwen tot de geliefdste kerstklassiekers van het Engelstalige gebied. Ook de Italiaan Lorenzo Bocci liet zich betoveren door de prachtige oude melodie en maakte ereen sfeervolle bewerking van voor blaasorkest.

Verschiedenen Quellen zufolge stammt dieses englische Weihnachtslied aus dem 15. oder 18. Jahrhundert und wurde erstmals im Gesangbuch Christmas Carols Ancient and Modern von William Sandy im Jahre 1833 gedruckt. Unbestritten ist hingegen die Tatsache, dass es seit langem zu den beliebtesten englischen Weihnachtsliedern zählt und auch über den englischen Sprachraum hinaus bekannt ist. Der Italiener Lorenzo Bocci ließ sich vom Zauber der alten Weise gefangen nehmen und verfasste eine stimmungsvolle Bearbeitung für Blasorchester.

John Rutter (b.1945) is one of England's best known composers of choral literature. While his choral works, including Te Deum, Magnificat, and Requiem, are the most familiar, he has also written numerous instrumental works. Rutter composed the Nativity Carol for SATB chorus and organ in 1963, and it was published in 1967 as part of a collection entitled Carols for Two Choirs. Although the title suggests a seasonal work, its musical richness lends itself favorably for performance at any time of the year.
