This piece is playable by younger groups and is a great way to expose students to the march form and style without sounding like your typical march. Step right up ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, step right up! See the exotic, the strange, and the magical at the Cirque de L’étrange. Welcome to the Cirque de L’étrange, known in English as the “Circus of the Strange.†This piece evokes a time of a bygone era, a time when circuses and carnivals provided people from all walks of life a chance to see human and animal oddities that were sources of both delight and horror. While many of these sideshow attractions were deemed fraudulent, it did not deter the crowds from flocking to be shocked and awed. I have always held a special place in my heart for the showmanship of carnivals, because my grandfather dearly loved them. For much of his life, he worked at fairs and carnivals selling cotton candy and candy apples. A large portion of my days when growing up were spent running around fairgrounds and helping my grandfather with his stand. He imparted in me a love for the cunning, magic, and sheer joy that only carnivals and circuses can bring. In Cirque de L’étrange, I sought to capture the the mirthful, yet uncanny mood of the carnivals that I grew up exploring, thus transporting you to a different time.Cirque de L'étrange is an original concert march written in standard march form, but its sound is anything but standard. This piece is playable by younger groups, as it is a great way to expose students to the march form and style while not sounding like your typical march.Opening in D minor, the piece combines the playful feel of a march and a macabre tango. The second time through the First Strain (mm. 5-23), the upper woodwinds and bells add a second counter melody based in D harmonic minor, which heightens the peculiar nature of the piece. The Second Strain (mm. 24-43) by contrast, is a little more upbeat, thus evoking the magical ebullience of a circus, which is further highlighted by the xylophone part. The Second Strain ends in the key of F major and sets up the transition to the Trio in the key of G minor. The Trio (m. 44) begins with the G harmonic minor melody in the clarinets and a counter melody in the bassoon and tenor saxophone. The rest of the woodwinds and bells join in at m. 60 while the percussion adds a Gypsy-like feel with tambourine and triangle. At m. 76 the full band joins in the macabre parade with the trombones and baritones harmonizing the counter melody. The conclusion of the march has the upper woodwinds, adding a second counter melody complete with trills to bring the march to an exciting and dramatic finish. As the World’s Greatest Showman, P.T. Barnum, a man my grandfather greatly admired, once said “The noblest art is that of making others happy.†It is my hope that through this piece you will experience the thrill, delight, and fright that only carnivals can bring as you visit the Circus of the Strange! $70.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks

Kaleidoscope Sky starts in a triumphant and celebratory fashion and continues to conjure images reminiscent of the wide variety of soaring colors on display at a hot-air balloon event. Ultimately, the piece appropriately concludes with a suspenseful, yet graceful, run to the finish line. Melodic lines should soar with attention being paid to phrase markings and assigned articulations. Encourage musicians to allow room for the melodic material to be heard in thicker textures where supporting harmonies are often rhythmic in nature. These harmonies should support, and not cloud the melodies. The meter changes should sound effortless, and the continuous figures in the percussion will help to achieve this effect. The snare drum, in particular, should bring accented notes to the foreground while maintaining a steady textural effect with non-accented notes as a rhythmic background. This will go a long way in finding a cohesive subdivision and ensemble pulse. | Four Earth Songs Sc/pts Full Score Concert band [Score] - Intermediate De Haske Publications
Concert Band and Vocal Soloist (Score) - Grade 5 SKU: HL.44011763 Poem...(+)
Concert Band and Vocal Soloist (Score) - Grade 5 SKU: HL.44011763 Poems by Graeme King. Composed by Marco Putz. De Haske Concert Band. Concert Piece. Score Only. Composed 2010. De Haske Publications #1094768. Published by De Haske Publications (HL.44011763). UPC: 884088896607. 9x12 inches. English-German-French-Dutch. The hymn Nun ruhen alle Walder (Now All Forests Rest), arranged by J.S. Bach (No. 6, So sei nun, Seele, deine, from Cantata BWV 13), is a guiding light throughout this four-movement composition. Pütz wrote this work as a musical outcry against the wilful, profit-driven destruction of our environment. When Bach used the word ruhen (to rest) over 350 years ago, it probably had a different nuance from the meaning it has today. At the beginning of the 21st century - the so-called age of progress - nun ruhen alle Walder should mean now all forests die . Massive industrialization and globalization, coupled with pure greed, corruption, political scandals, an ever-wideninggap between the rich and poor, and other such senseless human actions, are pushing our blue planet closer and closer to the point of no return. This work is not intended to be a ranting accusation. It should remind us of the beauty and harmony that can exist all around us in nature, if we take care of it. Pütz hopes that this will, one day, help put a greater emphasis on humanity's survival, and coexistence with nature rather than the exploitation described earlier. All four texts were created by Australian poet Graeme King, whose works were discovered by Pütz, by chance on the internet. Pütz was especially captivated by King's clarity, and intrigued by the possibilities of adapting and melding the strong rhythmical structure of King's writing with his own musical language. The four movements are as follows: 1. Tears of Nature 2. Grrrevolution 3. Stand up! 4. Tomorrow The world premiere of Four Earth Songs took place on 7 July 2009 at the 14th WASBE-Conference in Cincinnati (USA). This work is dedicated in friendship to Jouke Hoekstra, conductor, and the Frysk Fanfare Orkest (the Frisian Fanfare-Orchestra).
Tears of Nature 2. Grrrevolution 3.Stand up! 4.
Tears of Nature 2. Grrrevolution 3. Stand up! 4. Tomorrow Die offizielle Uraufführung von Four Earth Songs fand am 7. Juli 2009 statt, anlasslich der 14. WASBE-Konferenz in Cincinnati (USA).
Concert Band and Vocal Soloist (Score & Parts) - Grade 5 SKU: HL.44011762 ...(+)
Concert Band and Vocal Soloist (Score & Parts) - Grade 5 SKU: HL.44011762 Poems by Graeme King. Composed by Marco Putz. De Haske Concert Band. Concert Piece. Score Only. Composed 2010. Hal Leonard #1094768. Published by Hal Leonard (HL.44011762). UPC: 884088896591. 9x12 inches. English(US)/Deutsch/Francais/Nederlands.
Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 5 SKU: BT.GOB-000447-010 Composed by Carl Wittrock. Set (Score & Parts). 174 pages. Gobelin Music Publications #GOB 000447-010. Published by Gobelin Music Publications (BT.GOB-000447-010). In Scotland, the monster of Loch Ness is a hot issue, but the American state of Montana enjoys a comparable phenomenon going by the name of Montana Nessie. In the western part of this remote state lies Flathead Lake: a lake of 45 kilometres /38miles in lenght and 24 kilometres /15 miles breath. At several places, its depth exeeds 100 metres. Nessies discovery takes us back to the year 1889, when captain James Kerr aboard the passengership U.S.Grant was startled by a ship unknown to himsuddenly approaching his vessel across Flathead Lake. However, it turned out not to be a ship but an undefinable animal of immense size. From that moment onwards, life would never be the same again in and around Flathead Lake. The composer wasinspired by the story, and summarized the events into a symphonic poem, but from a surprising angle:that of the monster.
The exiting opening allows us to follow the monster in its natural surroundings. The fast follow-up movement depictsMontana Nessie trotting and frolicking about the Montana woods and prairies. From its abode, it thorougly enjoys everything around it. This period abruptly ends in a short climax (Chimes). The solo for cor anglais marks a new period in themonsters life. The presence of people has a paralizing effect and the apprehensive atmosphere of the slow movement may be felt profoundly. The monster observes and mildly teases the ship. Abhor sounds force the ship to a withdrawal. The movingmusical continuation depicts the triumphant monster dancing an ironic waltz. The monsters fear and anger at the intrusion of his freedom run through the piece like continuous threads, and develop into the works final theme.

Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 6 SKU: BT.DHP-1115235-140 Composed by Thierry Deleruyelle. Concert and Contest Collection CBHA. Concert Piece. Score Only. Composed 2011. 84 pages. De Haske Publications #DHP 1115235-140. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1115235-140). 9x12 inches. English-German-French-Dutch. The Atlas Symphony for symphonic wind band is an impressive and subtle work, thematically complex, with a rich orchestration, but also great beauty. The composer was keen to draw a parallel between an atlas, where all the geographical maps of the world are collected in one book, and his score, which brings together all the facets of his musical style. Despite being written without any breaks, the symphony is structured around three main ideas. It is based upon a series of notes that will become the very essence of the piece, its building blocks. Like the works of composers of serial music, the series appears in different forms - melodic and harmonic, thematic or simply asan accompaniment. With its wealth of rhythms and contrapuntal power, this piece is a compelling concerto for orchestra. The Orchestre de la Police Nationale was the first to be attracted to this work and premiered it with excellence under the baton of composer Thierry Deleruyelle.
$85.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

| Symphony No. 1 - The Borgias (The Black Legend) - 2. Nepotism Concert band [Score] Hal Leonard
Concert Band (Score) SKU: HL.4008922 Score. Composed by Otto M. Sc...(+)
Concert Band (Score) SKU: HL.4008922 Score. Composed by Otto M. Schwarz. Symphonic Dimensions. Symphony. Softcover. Duration 555 seconds. Hal Leonard #SDP1422201. Published by Hal Leonard (HL.4008922). UPC: 196288277538. A sinister legend hangs over the Borgia family, a legend of corruption, abuse of power, orgies, sex and murder. These rumors proliferated especially during the papacy of Alexander VI, a descendant of the family, who was even called the Antichrist. On his death, contemporary witnesses reported that the devil himself prowled around the death chamber and a black dog run along the corridors of the Vatican as his emissary. One might say that this Borgia pope, who ruled together with his family with the greatest brutality, became demonized. Unscrupulousness, poison-toting, incest and other malice are to this day the hallmarks of this pontiff. 2. NEPOTISM Rodrigo Borgia was elected Pope on August 11, 1492. From the very start, the new pope was prepared to use any means to eliminate his opponents, either through the infamous “Borgia poison” or by excommunication and execution. His son Cesare, who wanted little to do with the church, was appointed cardinal against his will. Alessandro Farnese, broth of Giulia Farnese, the Pope's mistress, also became a cardinal. Numerous Spaniards were brought into the country and were appointed to ecclesiastical posts. This infuriated the opponents of Alexander VI. The Dominican Girolamo Savonarola from Florence demanded the removal of the Pope. He was tortured and banned. Giuliano della Rovere wanted to convene councils to depose the Pope, which Alexander managed to prevent through artful political maneuverings. Through great brutality, brillian political skill and power games, this pope was able to achieve his goal of leaving for his children a great legacy. Alexander VI constantly changed his allies and always acted unscrupulously to improve his financial situation and expand his sphere of influence. At the centre of the second movement of this work is the medieval hymn Dies Irae (Day of Wrath), which acts as a warning in the background condemning the Pope's actions. $43.00 - See more - Buy online

| The Power of the Megatsunami Concert band [Score and Parts] - Intermediate Gobelin Music Publications
Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 4 SKU: BT.GOB-000478-010 Composed by Carl W...(+)
Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 4 SKU: BT.GOB-000478-010 Composed by Carl Wittrock. Set (Score & Parts). 166 pages. Gobelin Music Publications #GOB 000478-010. Published by Gobelin Music Publications (BT.GOB-000478-010). The word ‘tsunami’ is of Japanese origin. When you look it up in a dictionary, you will find that it means ‘a great sea wave produced by submarine earth movement or volcanic eruption’. A megatsunami is the superlative of this awesome expression of power that nature can create, and has catastrophic consequences.
When Carl Wittrock completed this composition not many such big earth movements had occurred, but since then we have become all too familiar with the disastrous consequences which a tsunami may have. On the 26th of December 2004 a heavy seaquake took place near the Indonesian island of Sumatra. Tidal waves 10 meters in height ravaged the coastal regions ofmany countries for miles around. The tsunami took the lives of thousands of people and destroyed many villages and towns.
There are more areas which run the risk of being struck by a tsunami, such as the island of La Palma, one of the Canary Islands. This island is based on oceanic crust at a fracture zone and as such is one of nature’s time bombs. The consequences of a natural calamity like a megatsunami are immense. In the case of La Palma, the tidal wave will move in the direction of South America, where it may reach 50 km inland, destroying everything on its way.
In his composition Wittrock describes an ordinary day which will have an unexpected ending. Right from the beginning there seems to be something in the air, the music creating an oppressive atmosphere of impending disaster. Themes are interrupted, broken off suddenly, followed by silence, suggesting the calm before the storm. Suddenly a short climax (glissandi in the trombone part) indicates the seaquake, and the megatsunami is a fact. Hereafter follows a turbulent passage symbolising the huge rolling waves. After nature’s force has spent itself, resignation sets in and the composition ends with a majestic ode to nature.
$203.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1135402-140). 356 X 267 inches. English-German-French-Dutch. Satoshi Yagisawa has lived in Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture in Japan since he was in elementary school. Around Christmas time every year in Ichikawa City, seven Chiba high school bands hold a joint concert. For the 20th anniversary the composer was asked to write a piece to be performed to close the concert. This piece was first performed in 2010 by Tadashi Yoshida, conductor and close friend of Satoshi Yagisawa, with a combined wind orchestra from Chiba Prefectural Kokubun High School, Chiba Prefectural Ichikawa Nishi High School, Chiba Prefectural Matsudo Mutsumi High School, Chiba Prefectural Matsudo Akiyama High School, Chiba Prefectural Matsudo Yakiri High School,Chiba Prefectural Funabashi Nishi High School and Chiba Prefectural Shiroi High School. The title was chosen from suggestions submitted by participating students. Dream Cruise was chosen by Satomi Otsu, a junior in Chiba Prefectural Matsudo Mutsumi High School Wind Orchestra. The composer skillfully scored this piece and created the chorus part so that all the hundreds of students could participate in the performance. This version has been revised so it can be played without the chorus part.
| Tirol Terra Fortis Concert band [Score and Parts] - Intermediate De Haske Publications
Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 4 SKU: BT.DHP-1094734-010 Composed by Jan V...(+)
Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 4 SKU: BT.DHP-1094734-010 Composed by Jan Van der Roost. Concert and Contest Collection CBHA. Concert Piece. Set (Score & Parts). Composed 2009. De Haske Publications #DHP 1094734-010. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1094734-010). 9x12 inches. English-German-French-Dutch. The Stadtmusikkapelle Wilten-Innsbruck (Austria) invited Belgian composer Jan Van der Roost to write a work to mark the bicentenary of the Tyrolean fight for freedom, which was settled in 1809. Various musical elements reflect this historical event. First, a hymn-like section rings out, based on melodic fragments from the ‘Tiroler Landeshymne’ (by Leopold Knebelsberger), which intertwine in a counterpoint-like arrangement. The second passage is more bellicose in character, and mirrors the fight of the Tyroleans - under the inspiring leadership of freedom fighter Andreas Hofer (1767-1810) - against Bavarian, French and Italian troops. Next, a broad, chorale-style melodyappears again: here, the imposing beauty of nature in Tyrol, and the amiable, lively temperament of the people who live in this mountainous region, are glorified. This is neither a programmatic work around an historical reconstruction, nor a politically inspired work: it is a combination of factual and cultural components, with an artistic and sonorous character. The use of the flugelhorn in particular gives Tirol Terra Fortis its ‘couleur locale’: for this beautiful instrument can invariably be found in the Austrian wind band. The commissioning music society had therefore specifically asked the composer to incorporate the instrument in this work. It certainly enhances the already extensive colour palette of the modern concert band!
$211.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks
