James Curnow's grade 1 holiday arrangement is an energetic exploration of four great carols. Nice counterpoint and stylistic subtleties help your band reach for a higher level of performance. Staccato, full value, detached, accented, slurred; it's all here. There is SO much you can teach your band in this arrangement! Plus, it can also be used as an audience sing-along. Outstanding!

Hungarian-born composer Béla Bartók assembled two sets of Romanian Christmas Carols for piano solo in 1915. Two of these contrasting settings fit the musical and technical parameters for less experienced concert band players perfectly, and are presented in this arrangement with slight alteration. A fresh new holiday arrangement with a multicultural flavor! This title is available in MakeMusic Cloud.

As seen in the mind-boggling Trans-Siberian Orchestra stage show! This thought-provoking medley of Christmas tunes describes a lone performer playing Christmas carols in the midst of the Bosnian war. The piece reflects the power, drama, and hope of a single musician in the midst of war, reflecting on the power of music to bring hope. The rock rhythm section contributes to an intense and very hip musical experience. Perhaps this can inspire a field trip to see the band live with lights and effects. (3:15).

Get ready for an abundance of merriment! This work features carols that have been traditionally sung in Canada for many years and will help to create a spirit of mirth in no time. It opens with the joyous strains of Il Est Né Le Divin Enfant (He is Born, The Divine Child) and continues with the plaintive and modal Noël Nouvelet (Sing We Now of Christmas). The Huron Carol ('Twas In the Moon of Wintertime) is then presented with remnants of Noël Nouvelet cleverly woven in. The dramatic conclusion develops brief dialogue between Good King Wenceslas and Il Est Né Le Divin Enfant that brings the work to an exuberant and powerful close. Juxtaposing the lyrical and expressive with the joyous and cheerful in this masterful arrangement will add a little touch of Canada to your next holiday concert. (4:00).

A delightful medley of three Angel carols that builds to an exciting finish topped by an optional descant trumpet (only goes up to a written G). Carols included are Angels We Have Heard On High, Hark The Herald Angels Sing, and Angels From The Realms of Glory. Features a beautiful brass chorale and since it is well cued, it can be performed successfully even with small bands. Very impressive sound that will be a highlight of any holiday performance!
