Noel is based on the famous English Carol The First Noel. The age of this song is not clear.Some scientists argue that tis song is from early thirteenth century, others say that it's from the sixteenth century.The first publication was in 'Christmas Carols, Ancient and Modern', compiled by William B. Sandys. (London, 1833).The exact origin is unknown. By Norman influences on the text, with the result that the spelling of the song is not certified (Noel, Nowell), an individual will sometimes claim that France is the cradle of this song, but in general assumes that the First Noel 'for the first time somewhere in England sung.'Noel' is gebaseerd op de zeer bekende Engelse Carol 'the First Noel'. Over de 'leeftijd' van dit lied is men het niet eens. Zo zijn er geleerden die beweren dat het al vanaf begin dertiende eeuw gezongen werd, anderen zeggendat het lied vanaf de zestiende eeuw bestaat. He studied philosophy, psychology and biology. In the latter he was admitted to the degree of doctor. His marriage provided financial independence, so that he could focus on his studies. Hauptmann wrote various novels, plays, poetry and scientific works. Night Twilight floats above the valley's night mists are hanging, there's a whispering brook. Now the covering veil is lifting quite: come and look! See the magicland before our gaze: tall as dreams the silver mountains stand, crossed by silent silver paths shining from a secret land. Noble, pure, the dreaming country sleeps. By the path the shadow black and hogh of a beach. a wisp of a white smoke creeps to the dark'ning sky. Where the valley is the darkest hued countless little lights shine silently. O my soul! Drink of solitude! ‘Panem et Circenses’, Bread and Games were essential for keeping the citizens of ancient Rome in check. While the bread was meant for the poorest among the Romans, the Games were Popular Pastime Number One for everybody.There were different kinds of games, such as chariot races (especially popular with female spectators), or wild-beast fights, where lions, tigers, bulls or bears were set on one another or even on human beings. Most popular, however, were the Gladiator fights. In ‘Bread and Games’ William Vean depicts one of the many fights in the antique Colosseum. 1. Entrance of the Gladiators: By powerful bugle-calls the attention of the peoplewas asked for, after which the Gladiators entered the Arena at the sound of heroic marching-music.2.Swordfight: We can hear that the fights were not mere child’s play in this part.On the contrary, they were a matter of life and death and were fought accordingly.3.Mercy of the Emperor: Sometimes a wounded gladiator could be fortunate, depending on the mercy of the audience. Waving one’s handkerchief meant mercy, a turned-down thumb meant no pardon. The Emperor had the right to take the final decision, but he usually complied with the wish of the majority of the public. 4.Lap of Honour: Gladiators were mainly selected among slaves, convicted criminals, or prisoners of war. Consequently, winning was very important, as it would mean fame, honour and sometimes even wealth. A lap of honour, therefore, was the winner’s due reward. ‘Panem et Circenses’, brood en (circus)spelen, essentieel in het Romeinse leven om de burgers in het gareel te houden. Wapperende zakdoeken betekende geluk, met de duim naar beneden wijzen betekende geen pardon.De Keizer had het laatste woord maar volgde meestal de stemming van het publiek. 4. Lap of Honour: Gladiatoren werden meestal uit slaven, veroordeelde misdadigers of krijgsgevangen geselecteerd. Winnen was daarom erg belangrijk.Dit betekende roem, eer en soms zelfs rijkdom. During the eighteenth century a person called ‘The Dance Master' made his appearance in Ireland. He was a travelling dance-teacher, who moved from one village to another to teach the people there how to dance. The piece consists of two dances, Reel and the Jig. Hij was een rondreizende dansleraar die van het ene dorp naar het andere trok om er mensen te leren dansen. Dit werk bestaat uit twee dansen: een Reel en een Jig. Im 18. Jahrhundert gab es in Irland den so genannten Dance Master“. Dieser war ein reisender Tanzlehrer, der von einem Dorf zum anderen zog, um den Menschen dort das Tanzen beizubringen. Dieses Stück besteht aus zwei Tänzen: einem Reel und einer Jig. Au cours du 18ème siècle le maître danser (dance master) est apparu en Irlande. Il voyageait d’un village l’autre pour enseigner la danse aux habitants. Ce morceau contient deux danses, le reel et la jig (gigue). Nel XVIII secolo una persona chiamata ‘The Dance Master' (Maestro di ballo) fece la sua comparsa in Irlanda. William Blueheart March is een hommage aan een van die bestuursleden die al hun vrije tijd opofferen aan datgene waaraan zij hun hart hebben verpand: de plaatselijke muziekvereniging. Het begin van deze fraaie mars is in mineur.Verder is de opbouw traditioneel, met een inleiding, thema, bassolo en trio. Er zijn lange melodische lijnen gebruikt. De mars stelt technisch niet al te hoge eisen aan het orkest, maar in muzikaal opzicht valt er veel te genieten.William Bluehart March is een ideaal werk voor plechtige gelegenheden - zowel op straat als in de concertzaal.William Blueheart March wurde zum Gedenken an all die Menschen geschrieben, die einen großen Teil ihrer Freizeit dem widmen, woran ihr Herz am meisten hängt: dem Blasorchester und dem Musikvereinsleben. Aus gegebenem Anlass beginnt der Marsch in Moll und folgt im weiteren Verlauf der traditionellen Marschform: Einleitung, Thema, Basssolo, Trio. Besonderes Kennzeichen dieses Marsches, der technisch keine zu hohen Anforderungen stellt, sind lange melodische Linien. Ein Stück, das jedes Blasorchester einmal braucht!William Blueheart March de Rudy Böhmer est une marche (de concert ou de plein air) idéale en toute circonstance solennelle. Structurée de façon conventionnelle avec une introduction (en mineur), une ligne mélodique, un solo de basse et un trio, cette marche est techniquement peu exigeante, mais pleine de charmantes couleurs sonores.
