This thoughtful adaptation from Haydn's Creation is a wonderful way to incorporate classical music on your next program while working on balance between woodwinds, brass and percussion. It can also function as a lyrical work on your program without the demands of long sustained phrases. Easy to put together, yet still authentic to the original.

This unusual concert work, commissioned by the concert band ?Harmonie Concorde? from Sanem in Luxembourg, is built on two basic ideas: the evolution of the economic and social context of this Luxembourg city with its strong mining industry and the European concept, which is clearly present in this very small but prosperous country with its many European institutes. This is musically expressed in a few quotes from the European hymn Ode to Joy, the closing of Beethoven?s Ninth Symphony and from the Te Deum by Charpentier ? widely known as the signature tune for Eurovision broadcasts. A work of true unity.

In this lyrical work Jacob de Haan has created an atmospheric piece, which is in many ways similar to an on-stage stage musical production. Dreamy passages alternate with festive and swinging fragments as various aspects of village life, such as the beauty, the peace and quiet and nature around the village, are portrayed. Why not add a unique twist to your performance by projecting images or films of your town or village onto a screen behind the band.

Kaleidoscope is a set of five variations of on the ‘Brugger Lied’ (Brugg Song) which is the traditional song of the town of Brugg. Picture yourself in the marvellous paradise of Italy’s Grado Lagoon. The magnificent display of colour and the salty scent of sea air combine with the fragrant tamarisk to create a unique atmosphere. In this glorious haven time stands still - except for the flight of the seagulls and the slow flood tide. From a distance you hear an adagio coming through the air from a procession of boats. Its solemn tones dissipate into the landscape of the lagoon.
