Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 2.5 SKU: BT.GOB-000776-140 Arranged by Menno Haantjes. Score Only. Gobelin Music Publications #GOB 000776-140. Published by Gobelin Music Publications (BT.GOB-000776-140). Whereas ‘Auld Lang Syne’ may be considered the best-known Scottish song ever, yet at the same time it is an obscure one, for there are but few people who know the complete text by heart. After the familiar ‘Should auld acquaintance be forgot .....‘ many people take their refuge to lyrics like ‘rum tee dum ta dee ..... lah, lah, lah ........... for auld lang syne’. Even in Scotland only a handful of persons know the entire text and are able to give a correct rendering of it. The current lyrics have been attributed to the Scottish poet Robert Burns. Burns, however, he did not write the whole poem : after he had heard an old man sing the centuries-old Scotchballad, he wrote it down and added a number of stanzas (1788). Historical research teaches us that the ballad served many purposes, both political and religious. Nowadays, ‘Auld Lang Syne’ is sung as a Christmas Carol and it is also sung on New Year’s Eve at the turning of the year. Apart from that, though, the song is also sung on many other occasions sometimes with different lyrics, which usually have Love, Friendship and/or Parting as their themes, as these go well with the fascinating melody. In this arrangement a low-sounding solo instrument is central. The harmonization in the accompaniment fits in perfectly with the sentiments this song will evoke. Should auld acquaintance be forgot And never brought to mind? Should auld acquintance be forgot. And days of auld lang syne? For auld lang syne, my dear, For auld lang syne, We’ll take a cup of kindness yet, For auld lang syne.
Na het bekende ‘Should auld acquaintaintance be forgot and .....‘ vervallenvelen in ‘rum tee dum ta dee ..... lah, lah, lah ........... for auld lang syne’.

Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 4 SKU: BT.DHP-1195884-010 Variations on a theme by Jean-Philippe Rameau. Composed by Jan de Haan. Concert and Contest Collection CBHA. Concert Piece. Set (Score & Parts). Composed 2019. De Haske Publications #DHP 1195884-010. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1195884-010). English-German-French-Dutch. Tribute to a Maestro is an homage to Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683 1764), one of the most important French Baroque composers. Rameau was a hugely significant composer, organist, harpsichordist and music teacher: he also published several authoritative books on music theory. Jan de Haan based this tribute on a theme from ‘Les Sauvages’ (The Savages), the fourth act of Rameau’s ballet-opera, Les Indes Galantes (The Amorous Indies). The work begins with two variations, whereupon the striking theme can be heard. After a short intermezzo, four more variations follow, of which the last one is composed in Baroque style.
$211.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 3 SKU: BT.CMP-1008-06-010 Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Arranged by Mike Hannickel. Concert Band. Classical. Set (Score & Parts). Composed 2006. Curnow Music #CMP 1008-06-010. Published by Curnow Music (BT.CMP-1008-06-010). 9x12 inches. English. Imagine Tchaikovsky on a vacation trip that was arranged by a really, really bad travel agent. That, in a “nutshellâ€, describesThe Nutty Nutcracker. This humorous style parody of what may arguably be some of the best-known melodies on the planetis a certain crowd pleaser. Everybody knows the tunes, but not like THIS! The Arabian Tango; The Chinese Hoedown; TheWaltz of the Mariachi Flowers; The Dance of the Klezmer Clarinets and MORE. You get the idea! Great fun for everyone. You’llwant to use Mike Hannickel’s A Nutty Nutcracker again and again.Whoops! Where are we?
$130.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 5 SKU: BT.DHP-0890145-140 Composed by Ottorino Respighi. The Great Classics. Score Only. Composed 1989. De Haske Publications #DHP 0890145-140. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-0890145-140). Not much is known about the origin of Huntingtower, except for the fact that this ballad was composed in 1931 by the Italian composer Ottorino Respighi (1879-1936), commissioned by Edwin Franko Goldman and the American Bandmaster Association, and was premiered on 17 April 1932 at a concert in memory of John Philip Sousa in Washington D.C. It is not even certain whether Respighi arranged the work himself, or left this to someone else. Huntingtower is the name of a castle in Scotland, where Respighi spent some time. It is possible that this ballad contains his musical impressions of his stay there. The orchestration on this CD, made by Franco Cesarini in 1987, is an adaptation ofthe work to the demands of the contemporary concert band.
English-German-French-Dutch. The name Cambrinus, a corrupted variation on ‘Jan Primus’ (John the First), refers to the flamboyant John I of Brabant, who was the Duke of the Dutch provinces Brabant and Limburg, in the second half of the 13th century. This piece of music tells the story of this notable man, starting with the Battle of Worringen in 1288, where he scored a glorious victory, followed by an exuberant celebration in which he also contemplates about the suffering he and his men have caused. The works offers exciting energetic musical scenes with lots of action, as well as beautiful romantic and heroic themes offering plenty of opportunities for your band to unfold all its qualities.

$176.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks
