This famous Concerto for Double Bass and Piano accompaniment by Edouard Nanny is part of the?Double Bass Classics. It is the famous piece No. 23 of this collection which, even though attributed to Dragonetti, is commonly acknowledge as a tribute to him composed by Edouard Nanny. The book features a score and double bass part. Written in A major and divided in three parts, Allegro Moderato, Andante and Allegro Giusto, all its movements start with the piano which is later joined by the double bass. This latter then becomes the main element, the piano accompaniment being mainly chords. Quite difficult, this piece would fit the skills and abilities of advanced players, for recitals or concerts. The Easy Concert Pieces series features easy to moderately difficult works for double bass with piano accompaniment. Ordered by difficulty in three volumes, the pieces are suitable for auditions, competitions or exams. The series contains original works by Bottesini, Dragonetti, Gretchaninoff, Hindemith, Laska, Regner, Reinagle, Teppo Hauta-aho and others as well as orchestral excerpts by Beethoven, Dvorak, Haydn, Mahler and arrangements of famous classical masterpieces. All pieces are included on the accompanying audio, as a full version and as a piano accompaniment. Volume 2 (easy to intermediate) contains pieces up to the 3rd position. Written for Rodney Slatford, Bryan Kelly's Diversions reflect both the composer's admiration for the dedicatee, and his insights into the lively character of the instrument - perhaps even more than the viola the 'Cinderella' of the orchestra, and yet capable of great charm and richness of expression. The winning Raggle Taggle Variants at the heart of the collection brilliantly display several sides of the instrument's character, while an Elegy, an Invention, a Polonaise and a Burlesque showcase its solemnity, its seriousness, its lyric eloquence and its humour. Warmly recommended to young players of around Grade 5 standard.
