Thebasis of the piece is a sequence of four chords, very simple and minimalistic. A person with schizophrenia hears voices that can be very disturbing; there is a longing for silence. I wrote this piece so that my son Alex, who suffers from the illness, could hear silence and meditation from it. This is a unique improvisation for flute and Piano based on a theme by Erik Satie and to which other original themes have been added. The work will certainly be a delight for the public because the sound material is treated in both classical and jazzy style.
