These little pieces are intended for flautists of about a year's standing. It is hoped that this small album will also help to foster in young players a taste for ensemble playing: the two simple trios also include oboe and clarinet, but if these instruments are not available the parts may be played on a violin.

The rich trio literature for Flute, Clarinet, and Piano created by Michael Webster comprises many faithful transcriptions as well as Webster’s original reworkings of opera highlights. Fitting between these opposite approaches, HUNGARIAN MARCH AND RONDO is a newly-formed concert work using two movements from Schubert’s Divertissement à la Hongroise, D. 818, originally for Piano, Four Hands. The opening Hungarian March has all the stately bounce and elegance of a Schubert March Militaire, and the Rondo is a charmed inspiration from the Schubert who created many hundreds of the world’s most beautiful lieder and ornamental instrumental chamber works.

The present volume in the EMB Urtext series is the first complete practical edition of the set of trio sonatas for two violins or two flutes by the prominent Italian violin player of the late Baroque. The six trio sonatas do not belong to the usual Corellian type but introduce bold novelties with regard to form, harmony and melody alike. The sixth sonata proves to be particularly interesting since each of the solo instruments conducted in canon have their own continuo part.
