Arpeggios are chord notes played one at a time rather than strummed or plucked all together. They are an essential part of great improvising and melody writing because playing chord notes in the right places creates solid melody lines. Chord notes sound more resolved than notes that are chromatic out of the key . Practicing arpeggios will improve your ability to learn melodies, make reading music easier, and develop your tone and picking accuracy. The first part of this book focuses on the basic fingerings of the following six arpeggios: major 7th, major 7th #5 , dominant 7th, minor 7th, minor 7th b5 , and diminished 7th. This book along with its accompanying audio represents a comprehensive guide to all things arpeggio. It delves into traditional applications of arpeggios, as well as how they relate to slash chords, modal music and more. The student will learn about how arpeggios fall over standard chord progressions, as well as how to embellish arpeggios to make them more musical in performance situations. In standard notation and tab. Includes access to online audio.

Ideal for the intermediate-level guitarist, these 17 traditional tunes from the UK plus one from France are arranged to be played with your electric guitar plugged-in. The transformation that occurs in switching from acoustic to electric instruments adds an unmistakable Celtic rock element to the authorâ??s companion recording.
The tunes are all played twice through on the recording and transcribed note-for-note in the book. The recording features backup from both electric bass and a second electric guitar, often played with a slide and a little â??dirtâ? thrown into the mix. Skillful bodhrán and djembe playing on many of the tracks adds to the dynamic nature of the recording.
Many of these tunes can be played in lower positions but a few venture as high as the 14th fret. Playing one note at a time within a narrow range, if you donâ??t read particularly well now, working through these tunes will help you improve and gain confidence as a sight reader.
Written in standard notation and guitar tablature. Includes access to online audio.

Chord Master is a chord dictionary with a difference. Rather than just show chord shapes - which are all there in the Chord Matrix - a large portion of the book explains how to use chords, with information about the theory behind them, and attempts to answer the questions guitarists often have about chord shapes. Also, it presents usable groups of chords for beginners in relation to a variety of song styles. This new, revised edition emphasises the practical and is even more useful to beginners, with expanded exercises and more audio. The multimedia component has roughly doubled the number of tracks and is 30 minutes longer. Some audio examples have a backing track arranged to stress melodic and rhythmic elements so that when the reader puts the chords alongside, the effect is marked, sometimes allowing for re-harmonizing the same music with a different chord progression, or a chord progression played in more than one area of the guitar. The notation of the chord progressions is partly redesigned, making it easier to read. This will also make this part of the book more attractive to the casual browser. More chord types have been added to Chord Master's Matrix (dictionary) section, with new material about balanced chords (which remove ineffective or unnecessary doublings of notes) and about effective chord voicing. The section about chords from famous songs is expanded with more examples of unusual chords, including ones that players are often curious about - one of the most famous examples is the first chord of A Hard Day's Night..
