Written for 3-4 octave handbell choir and 3 octaves of handchimes. Level 3. This stunning original from Matthew Compton is replete with emotion and descriptive storytelling. From a delicate, ethereal opening, the piece moves into a section with flowing accompaniment relying heavily on straight eighths set against triplet eighths. A faster section ensues featuring a soaring melody and unexpected harmonic twists before returning to the feeling of the opening. An altered statement of the theme makes a brief appearance before the piece ends as it began. A truly beautiful and very approachable piece from one of today's up-and-coming composers! Please note, the recording is of the 5 -7 octave version.
