This classic Clarence Williams composition was written at the very beginning of the Jazz Age and speaks in the Count Basie language. An 8 measure written piano solo feeds into a quiet full ensemble melody with brass in bucket mutes. (Open in stand will do) Well placed unisons and ensemble writing leads to a 16 bar tenor sax solo (suggested written solo is provided) then builds to a final full ensemble shout chorus a minor third higher. Includes an optional flute part. The unique surprise ending will treat the audience and band to a few happy moments. Hint: (Opt. one bar vocal ending).

A brisk new swinger by Erik Sherburne with a catchy melody that is a perfect concert or contest piece for bands at the grade 3 level. Lots of great ensemble writing and an open solo section for the soloists of your choosing. Includes suggested solos for the horns. Ranges are reasonable and all rhythm parts are completely notated for less experienced players.
