Beautiful and creative adaptation of the familiar theme from Dvorak's New World Symphony, this arrangement is just what you need for the ballad spot in your contest/competition programs. Written as a trumpet/flugelhorn feature, it is equally effective spotlighting an alto saxophone. Originally scored in the late 1970's for the San Francisco Symphony Summer Workshop Jazz Band and recently updated for publication, this fantastic flag-waver for developing groups is the perfect program opener or closer. Set in a driving up-tempo swing feel, solos for alto sax and trumpet can be negotiated using the notes of a single scale.
