Roland Kernen kreierte dieses Medley mit Pep aus fünf Hitparadenstürmern der letzten vierzig Jahre: Rock Around the Clock von Bill Haley, Ben von Michael Jackson, Paradise by the Dashboard Light von Meatloaf, Music von John Miles und YMCA von The Village People. Die schwungvolle Bearbeitung von Roland Kernen steht den Originalversionen um nichts nach.

This composition of Marc Cunningham has four parts, and takes place on a sunny day in a picturesque town.

1. Promenade
Many people walk through the city. The band passes through the streets. People are strolling along the avenues and amorous couples are sitting on a park bench.

2. Lovey Dovey
One of these couples is knee-deep in love.

3. Crispy and Creamy
Here the contrasts between a crisp staccato section in two-four time signature and a smooth legato section in three-four time signature are depicted. Is Crispy the boy and Creamy the girl?

4. Farewell
In the last particle the couple says goodbye. We still think back tothe walk through the city. It sounds a little less happy now. Not everyone is good at saying goodbye, sometimes a tear flows.

Deze compositie van Mark Cunningham heeft vier delen, en speelt zich af op een zonnige dag in een pittoresk stadje.

1. Promenade Veel mensen maken een wandeling door de stad. De fanfare trekt door de straten. Mensen lopente flaneren langs de lanen en verliefde stelletjes zitten op een bankje in het park.

2. Lovey-dovey Eén van deze stelletjes is tot over de oren verliefd.

3. Crispy and Creamy Hier worden de tegenstellingentussen een knapperig staccato gedeelte in 2/4 maatsoort en een vloeiend legato gedeelte in 3/4 maatsoort uitgebeeld. Is Crispy de jongen en Creamy het meisje?

4. Farewell In het laatste deeltje nemen ze afscheid van elkaar.We denken nog even terug aan de wandeling door de stad. Het klinkt nu wel wat minder vrolijk. Niet iedereen is goed in afscheid nemen, er vloeit wel eens een traantje.

Pride of the Forest reflects the pride that is associated with the character of the people who live in the Fryske W lden (‘The Frisian Woods’), a region in the northeast of the Dutch province of Friesland. Generally speaking, the inhabitants are tough, stalwart, straightforward, tenacious, honest and most of all, proud. During the piece the typical landscape as well as all characteristics of the Frisian people are described in a fantastic and colourful way. A lovely piece for your contest or concert!

Pride of the Forest verklankt de trots die verbonden is aan de volksaard van de mensen die wonen in de Friese Wouden (de Fryske W lden), een streek in het noordoosten van Friesland. De bewoners zijn er over het algemeen stoer, ruig, recht voor z’n raap, vasthoudend, eerlijk en vooral trots. De kenmerkende eigenschappen van het landschap en de Friezen uit deze regio worden beschreven op programmatische en kleurrijke wijze. Een prachtig werk voor uw volgende wedstrijd of concert!

Pride of the Forest spiegelt den Stolz wider, den man mit dem Charakter der Menschen verbindet, die in den Fryske W lden“ (Friesischen Wäldern), einer Region im Nordosten der niederländischen Provinz Friesland, leben. Im Allgemeinen sind die Einwohner dort bodenständig, treu, direkt, geradlinig, ehrlich und vor allem stolz. In dem Stück werden sowohl die typische Landschaft als auch die Charaktereigenschaften der Friesen auf programmatische, fantastische und lebhafte Weise beschrieben. En général, les habitants sont des gens résistants, vaillants, francs, tenaces, honnêtes et, surtout, fiers. Cette œuvre illustre le paysage et les caractéristiques typiques des Frisons de façon programmatique, fantastique et colorée. Un morceau magnifique pour vos concours ou vos concerts !

Cittaslow is an international network of more than 220 towns in 30 countries. Its members are towns where people are still finding themselves reminiscing over the old times; towns that are rich in theatres, squares, cafés, restaurants and spiritual places; towns with untouched landscapes and charming craftsman where people are still able to recognize the slow course of the seasons, and respect their authentic products, true taste as well as their health. The Hymn of Cittaslow, which was commissioned by the organisation itself, is entirely inspired by their commitment to the preservation of the member towns. The tempo is naturally ‘slow', and the themes somehow soundfamiliar. On the one hand, the music emanates peace and quiet, but it also sounds grand in its lyricism, thereby reflecting the beauty of the Cittaslow towns.

Cittaslow is een internationaal netwerk van meer dan 220 gemeenten verspreid over 30 landen. De aangesloten plaatsen zijn gemeenten waar mensen nieuwsgierig zijn naar vroeger, waar een rijke schakering aan theaters, pleinen, cafés, restaurants en spirituele plekken te vinden is, met een ongerept landschap en innemende ambachtslieden, waar mensen de langzame tred van de seizoenen nog herkennen en hun authentieke producten, ware smaak en gezondheid eerbiedigen. De Hymn of Cittaslow, in opdracht van deze organisatie gecomponeerd, is helemaal ge nspireerd op deze gedachte. Het tempo is uiteraard 'slow' en de thema's zijn herkenbaar. De muziek ademt enerzijds rust, maarklinkt ook groots in haar lyriek, die de schoonheid van de Cittaslow-gemeenten weerspiegelt.

Städte mit unberührten Landschaften und bezauberndem Handwerk, wo man immer noch den langsamen Lauf der Jahreszeiten wahrnehmen sowie authentische und gesunde Produkte mit ihrem ursprünglichen Geschmack genießen kann. Die Hymn of Cittaslow wurde von der Organisation selbst in Auftrag gegeben und ist ganz von dem Engagement ihrer Mitgliedsstädte inspiriert, die sich dafür einsetzen, dieVergangenheit zu bewahren.
