The Netherlands have been an important trading nation for a long time partly as a result of their geographical situation.
One of the first multinationals in The Netherlands was the ‘Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie’ (VOC).
The aim of the VOC was to send ships to Asia in order to buy pepper and spices, and to take over the Portuguese monopoly in this field. The Company was successful. An era of great prosperity resulted, in which the art of painting (Rembrandt van Rijn) as well as science (Constantijn Huygens) flourished alongside a thriving economy.

1. The Sails are set : There is a lot of hustle and bustle on the quay. The crew are preparing fordeparture. Goodbyes are said and once the sails have been hoisted the ship sets out to sea.

2. A Visit to the Rajah of Yogyakarta: After a voyage of many months the place of destination is reached. A visit to the Radja, the king of the area around Yokyakarta, follows. The dishes and beverages and the native culture in general are very pleasant after having been on a diet of ship’s biscuit and water for such a long time.

3. The Holds have been loaded: The holds have been loaded to the brim, and the voyage home can be begin!

4. Death sails along: Life at sea is rough. not seldom did a sailor die of a tropical disease or scurvy. After a memorial service, the Captain would speak the words ‘One, two, three, in God’s name ...’ and the body, wrapped in canvas, would be committed to the sea.

5. A joyful homecoming: After many months of hardship coming home is perhaps the best part of the entire voyage. The quay is filled with people eager to give the crew a warm welcome.

Nederland is, mede door de geografische ligging, sinds lange tijd een belangrijke handelsnatie.
Eén van de eerste multinationals was de ‘Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie’ (VOC).
Het doel van de VOC was schepen naar Azië testuren om peper en specerijen te kopen en het Portugese monopolie over te nemen.
De VOC werd een succes. Het was een tijd van grote welvaart (Gouden Eeuw), waarin naast een bloeiende economie ook de schilderkunst (Rembrandt vanRijn) en de wetenschap (Constantijn Huygens) floreerden.

1. The Sails are set: Aan de kade is het een drukte van belang. De bemanning maakt het schip klaar voor vertrek. Er wordt afscheid genomen en als de zeilen gehesenzijn zetten we koers naar volle zee.

2. A Visit to the Rajah of Yogyakarta: Na een maandenlange reis wordt de bestemming bereikt. Er volgt een bezoek aan de Radja, de koning van de streek rond Yokyakarta. De spijzen, drankenen de inheemse cultuur zijn zeer aangenaam na maanden scheepsbeschuit en water.

3. The Holds have been loaded: De laadruimtes zijn volgestouwd. De thuisreis kan beginnen.

4. Death sails along: Het leven op zeeis hard. Niet zelden vond een zeeman de dood door een tropische ziekte of scheurbuik. Na een herdenkingsdienst sprak de kapitein de woorden: ‘Eén, twee, drie in Godsnaam .....’, waarna het in zeildoek gewikkelde lichaam aan de golvenwerd toevertrouwd.

5. A joyful homecoming: Na maanden van ontberingen is het thuiskomen misschien wel het mooiste van de hele reis. De kade staat weer vol om de bemanning een warm onthaal te geven.

Die Liedkomponisten Bob Crewe und Bob Gaudio waren ein äußerst erfolgreiches Duo. In den 60er- und 70er-Jahren des vergangenen Jahrhunderts schrieben sie zahlreiche Hits für Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, darunter auch Can't Take My Eyes Off You aus dem Jahr 1967. Die Liste der bekannten Künstler, die das unwiderstehliche, flotte Lied in ihr Repertoire aufnahmen, ist lang: The Lettermen, Andy Williams, Diana Ross & The Supremes, Gloria Gaynor, The Boystown Gang, The Pet Shop Boys und viele mehr. Can't Take My Eyes Off You kann zweifellos zu den Klassikern der Popmusik gerechnet werden. Lorenzo Bocci schrieb diese spannende Bearbeitung für Blasorchester.

Les auteurs-compositeurs Bob Crewe et Bob Gaudio ont formé un tandem couronné de succès. Dans les années 60 et 70, ils signent de nombreux tubes pour Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons dont l’immense standard de l’année 1967, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You. Par la suite, une pléiade d’artistes célèbres reprend cette chanson charmante au rythme enlevé. The composition ".The Fever Tree". in 2008 was commissioned by the Music Association of Central and Eastern Netherlands St.Willibrord as a gift to all its members on the occasion of the formation of a national music organization and the elimination of the music union for Central and Eastern Netherlands St.Willibrord.
The fever tree is a controversial legend about St. Willibrord (658-739).
The daughter of a pagan chieftain of Hoemannen that made the area around
Heumen unsafe, was seriously ill. They feared for her life.
The chief of the gang turned to predatory Willibrord, who same time in this region led mission.
Willibrord commanded theman to repent and a headband of the girl
to a certain special tree to hang.
The desperate captain obeyed, and his daughter was a miraculous heal.
Then came the anger of the Hoemannen against their leader, who in their
eyes had committed treason by the group to convert. They abused themselves to him and killed him brutally.
The daughter remained behind in great sorrow, comforted by Willibrord.

The composition has the following scenes:
- Andante moderato - the calling of Willibrord
- Allegro moderato - Willibrord passes through the province of Brabant and try to people to repent
- Vivace - Hoemannen terrorize the inhabitants of the area Heumen
- Andante - the healing of the sick girl and the conversion of the centurion
- Inquieto - the revenge of the Hoemannen
- Adagio - elegy on the death of the chief

De compositie 'The Fever Tree' (De koortsboom) werd in 2008 geschreven in opdracht van de Muziekbond Midden- en Oost Nederland St.Willibrord, als geschenk aan al haar leden bij gelegenheid van de vorming van één landelijke muziekorganisatieen de opheffing van de muziekbond voor Midden- en Oost Nederland St.Willibrord.

De koortsboom is een omstreden legende rond St. Willibrord (658-739).
De dochter van de heidense hoofdman van de Hoemannen, diehet gebied rond Heumen onveilig maakten, was ernstig ziek. Men vreesde voor haar leven. De hoofdman van de roofzuchtige bende wende zich tot Willibrord, die in dezelfde tijd in deze streek missioneerde. Willibrord gebood deman zich te bekeren én een hoofdband van het meisje aan een bepaalde, bijzondere boom te hangen. De radeloze hoofdman gehoorzaamde en zijn dochter werd op wonderbaarlijke wijze genezen. Toen keerde de woede van de Hoemannen zichtegen hun leider, die in hun ogen verraad had gepleegd aan de groep door zich te bekeren. Ze vergrepen zich aan hem en vermoordden hem op gruwelijke wijze. De dochter bleef in grote droefheid achter, getroost door Willibrord.

De compositie kent de volgende tableaus:

- Andante moderato - de roeping van Willibrord
- Allegro moderato - Willibrord trekt door het Brabantse land en tracht de bevolking te bekeren
- Vivace - deHoemannen terroriseren de inwoners van het gebied rond Heumen
- Andante - de genezing van het zieke meisje en de bekering van de hoofdman
- Inquieto - de wraak van de Hoemannen
- Adagio - treurzang over de doodvan de hoofdman.
