The suite from the cycle 'Ploner Musiktag' (1932) was structured according to the exact instrumentation directions of the composer and completed with a percussion part ad lib. Particular attraction is caused by the different instrumentation of the four movements which, how-ever, takes into consideration the conditions of school practice.

Jeg har ogsa i dette stykke forsogt at introducere staerke folelsesmaessige udtryk, ved brug af instrumentale farver og tonale virkemidler. Titlen Hush er forbundet med et slags indre digt jeg har haft i tankerne medens jeg komponerede. Da jeg jo ikke er digter i ord, er det ufuldstaendigt og utilstraekkeligt i sin form, men derfor alligevel meget godt beskrivende for stykkets vaesen. Programme note

Morpheus in the Greek mythology is the most powerful of the Oneroi, the gods of dreams. He is the one who sends us our dreams and he may appear to us within the dreams in disguise.

Analogous to the logic of dreams, in Morpheus everything is interwoven, as chains of associations appear to logically lead us from one line of thought to another. Everything seems strangelyfamiliar. But the logic is treacherous and we already feel, it may only be valid within the dream. Nothing that appears similar is actually ever really the same.

Half awakening, we struggle to hold on to a vanishing world we felt we were on the verge of understanding, but which we already know will eventually escape us when we fully awake.

Everything remains a mystery until the end.

Nacht Und Trompeten by Hans Abrahamsen (1981). Programme note: The piece is dedicated to Hans Werner Henze, from whose request the piece arose. The music unfolds in a space, in which the memory of the earlier music has the same reality as the music of today. But the music of the memory is naturally distant and vague, whereas the music of today is present and gesticulated. In the opening section the past and the present are clearly separated, but during the piece, this balance is lifted, as the music of the past (trumpet signals, Sicilian melodicity, romantic Pathos, strawinskian neo-classicism) in a dynamic and often dramatic surrealistic play with minimalism and modernism oftoday is unravelled.
