With the Symphony K. 112, Cliff Eisen, Professor at the renowned Kings College and one of the leading Mozart specialists of the younger generation, continues the series of new editions of Mozarts orchestral works which began with the Prague Symphony. Here too, the editorial principles follow the guidelines of Urtext. In his work, he takes particular care in bringing his expert knowledge of contemporary performance practice into play when evaluating authentic part material. Eisen comes to surprising conclusions in a number of cases. At the very least, the Symphony K. 112 will sound different in these passages with the new material.

Mozart composed two new symphonies in the Autumn of 1773, after having returned to Salzburg from Vienna. The first of the two was the Symphony No.24 In B Flat K.182, and the second was the Symphony No.25 in G Minor K.183

This symphony was one of two which Mozart composed in a minor key ? the other being the Symphony No.40 in G Minor K.550. The latter can be identified with some of Mozart?s most troubled and agitated music, reflecting those difficult moments in his life. However, the twenty-fifth symphony is thought to have been composed as part of a sudden wave of minor-key symphonies which appeared in the later 1760s and early 1770s ? among others were composed by Vanhal, Ordonez, and Joseph Haydn.Available here is the study score for one of Mozart?s two symphonies composed in a minor key, the Symphony No.25 in G Minor K.183. This score is ideal for study and perusal usage..

The present edition is the first since 1932 to be based on Mozarts autograph score. It reflects the conviction that his autograph scores represent not only the substance of his works, but also actual performances. A Fassung letzter Hand is scarcely possible.Cliff Eisen, one of the leading Mozart specialists of his generation, takes particular care in bringing his expert knowledge of contemporary performance practice into play when evaluating authentic part material. In the Prague Symphony, Eisen comes to surprising conclusions in a number of cases, such as the delicate matter of the division of the bassoons led col basso. Which of the low strings are they intended to play along with? When read properly, the sources provided a clear-cut answer. The Prague Symphony will sound different with the new Breitkopf Urtext material.

Following nearly 4 years without having composed a new symphony, although still writing opera overtures and works from orchestral serenades, Mozart composed the ?Paris? Symphony. Mozart received the commission from Joseph Legros, when him and his mother were in Paris in 1778.Mozart composed the work for the largest orchestra he?d written for until then in a symphony, marking the first time which he had used Clarinets in one of his symphonies. Mozart had taken pains to write the work in a style that would appeal to the French and, despite a dismal rehearsal, the first performance was well received.Available here is a study score of Mozart?s Symphony No.31 in D ?Paris? K.297, which is ideal for study and perusal usage..

“The Symphony No.39 In E Flat K.543 was finished in Vienna on 26th June 1788. Together with the symphonies in G minor and C major Jupiter (all three were composed in less than a month), it marks the summit of Mozart's achievement in symphonic form. Although this symphony breaks no new ground as regards the use of orchestral instruments, it is nevertheless one of the first examples of modern orchestration, because the resources of each instrument and the various combinations of timbre are here exploited with great skill. This miniature score is an excellent resource for perusal or private study of this work.â€.

This wonderful arrangement of the second movement from Mozart's Symphony No. 17 is an excellent piece for developing ensembles to learn about the stylistic nuances of Mozart. Arranged by Steven Campbell in G Major and set in common time, younger musicians will find the setting very accessible. This is a great way to introduce varied bowing techniques like staccato, legato, spiccato, and brushed strokes that often accompany the lighter Classical style. (4:10).

There are many clues hinting that Mozart himself wrote the wind-band version of his "Entführung” located in Donaueschingen. Our arrangement features a concert close to the Overture which is unquestionably superior to the posthumous endings added by other musicians. Bastiaan Blomhert transposed this coherent close to the orchestral version. After "Don Giovanni” there ist now a second authentic concert close for a Mozart overture.

His concertos justifiably rank among the milestones of solo music accompanied by orchestra. In Viennese Classicism, piano music flourished thanks to innovations in the instrumental technique, and even Mozart fully exploited the advantages of the fortepiano action over the rigid sound of the harpsichord in his works.Piano Concerto No. 25 is Mozart's longest concerto. The harmonic structure, the continuous change between major and minor, the witty dialoguing between solo and orchestra, the strong contrapuntal saturation, the frequent use of the pedal point as well as the overflowing melodic abundance give the work a character all its own.

Cinque studi per orchestra (1959?60) clearly documents the process by which Maros - starting from Bartók's expressionist works written during the 1920s, especially The Miraculous Mandarin and The Night's Music -escaped from the earlier tonal, classicizing realm of music. The composition takes the form of a suite, with alternating notturno and scherzo movements. Decisive to the character of both are percussion instruments hitherto used solo only rarely in Hungarian orchestral practice. (Anna Dalos).
