This three movement work is based upon the chant hymn Pange Lingua (Now my tongue, the mystery telling) for the feast of Corpus Christi. Movement I, Pange Lingua, is set as a duet between flute stops over a quiet pedal drone. Movement II, Verbum Caro, Panem verum has the chant at 4' pitch in the pedal with rich string accompaniment in the manuals. The final movement Genitori, Genitoque, is a French-style toccata on full organ. Of medium difficulty, this work can be used effectively as a prelude, offertory, and postlude or as a recital piece.
