Olivier Messiaen (1908-1992) is known for his unique composition style. Incorporating complex rhythms, harmony and melodies, Meditations on the Mystery of the Holy Trinity is no exception to the composer's popular, distinctive style. Composed in 1969, Meditations on the Mystery of the Holy Trinity is an example of Messiaen's use of Serialism. The composer first used what he called his musical alphabet in Meditations on the Mystery of the Holy Trinity, where the alphabet includes motifs for the concepts, 'to have', 'to be' and 'God'. Furthermore, 'sentences' depict the writings of St. Thomas Aquinas. Messiaen's musical alphabet, which he also described as communicable language is explained as a preface to the composition Meditations on the Mystery of the Holy Trinity. Divided into nine sections ('meditations'), a typical performance lasts about 74 minutes. Messiaen's Meditations on the Mystery of the Holy Trinity is essential to all advanced, virtuoso and contemporary organists seeking to expand and vary their repertoire..

Being a fascinatingly unique composer, Olivier Messiaen pushed the conventions of composing to its very limits. The composer''s music remains ever-popular and The Technique of my Musical Language provides the key and necessary knowledge into the study of his delightful music. Olivier Messiaen (1908-1992) was admitted to the Paris Conservatoire at the mere age of 11, where he won many prizes. As a passionate ornithologist, as well as organist and composer, many of Messiaen''s works depict bird song. His music is rhythmically complex and harmonically and melodically distinct, often using modes of limited transposition. It is for these reasons that the composer compiled The Technique of my Musical Language. The book contains text with musical examples, describing unique elements of his music, such as ametrical music, his rhythmic notations and his modes of limited transposition, among many others. For all fans of Messiaen, The Technique of my Musical Language is essential to the understanding of the composer''s much loved music..

There is no other work more closely associated with the organ than Johann Sebastian Bach's Toccata in D minor. During my compositional preparation, I repeatedly found myself returning to this work. I had a number of different formal models in mind, but felt myself gravitating towards the rhapsodic character of toccata form so that my new composition for organ ultimately became a toccata developing from a pedal point on the fundamental note 'D'. As is appropriate to the volume of a large modern organ, my concept focuses on symphonic tonal layers whose suggestive maelstrom originates from the inner strength of repeating elements and their register- like augmentation, culminating in the unleashing of polyrhythmic progressions. Ern Dohnányi (1877 - 1960) composed his C minor fantasia in 1892, at the age of fifteen. This work, which is appearing in print now for the first time, is a real curiosity: apart from a few polyphonic stylistic exercises written while he was at the music academy, this is Dohnányi's only piece for organ. The composer later recalled his first acquaintance with that instrument thus: 'My experience with the organ actually dates back to when I was a third-year grammar school student, for beginning with that year I served as organist for the Sunday worship services in the grammar school's church. These were the first wages I ever earned through music.' The Fantasie wasprepared for publication on the basis of the composer's manuscript by the well-known Dohmányi researcher Deborah Kiszely.

The title Ten Orphic Vignettes, which alludes to Orpheus, is a conceptual metaphor that represents the idea behind this set of pieces. Orpheus the legendary figure from Greek mythology was venerated for being endowed with superhuman musical skills. He was a poet and mystic whose poems set out many philosophical principles and dogmas of Ancient Greece. These pieces were written in 2021 and some of them are derived from compositional sketches from earlier years. The subject matter of these works are quite eclectic, encompassing Joy, death, aesthetic beauty, nostalgia, the mystical and the esoteric. They are designed to be played as solo pieces on their own or in groups chosen by the performer.Organ Duration: 32’ Composed: 2021 Published by: Zimbel Press.
