This edition of the Organ Book by Nicolas de Grigny was edited by C. L. Koehlhoeffer. Featuring 43 pieces, this book uses pedals and other techniques that would be known by advanced players. The scores of the Organ Book were first published in 1699 under another name before being republished under this name in 1711. J. S. Bach corrected these initial editions, and his corrections arestill taken into account in this book. Organ Book is a good representation of the Organ music of the Louis XIV period. Nicolas de Grigny was a French organist living in theareaof Rheims, where he was the main Cathedral organist.

Prelude On Lasst Uns Erfreuen is a work by renowned contemporary composer Nico Muhly , for Organ. Lasting around 6 minutes, it was composed in 2007. The composition was dedicated to Alison Shafer, commemorating 25 years of service for Christian Lane and the Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ, Frederick, Maryland. The Orgelbüchlein Project is a collective composition project aiming to complete Bach's unfinished manuscript known as 'Orgelbüchlein'. In the 'Little Organ Book', Bach laid out a complete hymnal of short organ chorale preludes, 164 in all, but only completed 46 of them. Why the remaining 118 were left as blank pages, with only a title at the head, remains a mystery, but they inspried organists William Whitehead to found the Orgelbüchlein Project, in which contemporary composers are invited to contribute a piece to completing the collection. The resulting collection, to be published in six volumes, represents a cross-section of the most interesting composers at work today across Europe.More information about the project is available at www.orgelbuechlein.comList of Composers

According to Muhly, this composition is an attempt to set the text of the Latin Mass using a completely different harmonic structure from his previous works. The rhythms and melodies can be seen as circular, rather than linear, becoming evident from both the Organ parts and the choir's initial phrases. As the piece progresses, the dynamic tempo enhances the interplay of all parts, all the while hinting at Stravinskian inspirations.

The Belgian organist and composer Jacques-Nicolas Lemmens (1823-1881) ranks among the most important organ teachers of the 19th century. A student of Adolf Friedrich Hasse in Breslau, he was familiar with the Bach organ tradition but also had a decisive influence on the French organ tradition. From 1849-1869 he was a teacher at the Conservatoire of Brussels and in 1869 he founded his own important church music school in Mechelen ('Lemmens Institute'). His 'Ecole d'orgue', published by Schott in 1862, has now been re-published as a reprint edition due to great demand.
