Composer's Note:
In writing these pieces I had in mind certain difficulties which worry most organists from time to time; and in order to combine, as it were, business with pleasure I thought it worthwhile to concentrate upon one aspect of organ technique in each piece, even at the risk of making them a little more difficult than others in this series.
In Procession the main difficulty lies in the pedals Arabesque, on the other hand could hardly have had a simpler pedal part: its object is to exercise the left hand in producing a smooth, running semi-quaver pattern Pageant with its cross-rhythms, is designed to produce well-disciplinedhands and feet that can, when required, work in conflicting rhythms.
I have kept the registration schemes as simple and straightforward as possible.

hier preisen auf der Erd offers a selection of some of the multi-faceted and highly original forms found among the chorale prelude of the romantic era.
ISBN 9790004180518. 9 x 12 inches.
The spotlight is not on Brahms, Reger and Karg-Elert, but on the romantic organ composers Otto Dienel, Theophil Forchhammer, Max Gulbins, Otto Heinermann, Karl Hoyer, Wilhelm Kienzl, Emil Magnus, Karl Piutti and many others whose works have recently begun to attract greater attention. The idea of romanticism is extended into the 20th century by the inclusion of certain other composers as well. hier preisen auf der Erd illustrates a particularly fruitful period in the history of organ music while also expanding the four-volume collection in Ewigkeit dich loben, which was unable to take certain interesting rediscoveries into account at the time of compilation.hier preisen auf der Erd offers a selection of some of the multi-faceted and highly original forms found among the chorale prelude of the romantic era. This version of Cortege and Litanie by Marcel Dupré was written for organ. For upper intermediate players, this 8 page composition is written with 4 sharps and includes the use of the pedals. The piece, initially written for a small orchestra in 1922, was created for a play. Dupré integrated it into one of his piano recitals and was later asked to arrange it for other instruments. These scores therefore exist also arranged for piano, orchestra (in 4 and 16) and for the conductor. In terms of composition, the piece is divided into two: “Cortege,” which title describes a solemn procession, begins in E major and lasts twice as long as the introductory theme; and “Litanie,” which is describing the prayer sung during a procession and which follows the “Cortege” part to then be joined by it. Marcel Dupré is a French composer and virtuoso organist who won the Prix de Rome in 1914. He became famous when he played the work of Bach in its totality from memory in 1920. He later became the professor of many renowned students at the Paris Conservatoire such as Messiaen, Langlais and Cochereau among others.

Being a fascinatingly unique composer, Olivier Messiaen pushed the conventions of composing to its very limits. The composer''s music remains ever-popular and The Technique of my Musical Language provides the key and necessary knowledge into the study of his delightful music. Olivier Messiaen (1908-1992) was admitted to the Paris Conservatoire at the mere age of 11, where he won many prizes. As a passionate ornithologist, as well as organist and composer, many of Messiaen''s works depict bird song. His music is rhythmically complex and harmonically and melodically distinct, often using modes of limited transposition. It is for these reasons that the composer compiled The Technique of my Musical Language. The book contains text with musical examples, describing unique elements of his music, such as ametrical music, his rhythmic notations and his modes of limited transposition, among many others. For all fans of Messiaen, The Technique of my Musical Language is essential to the understanding of the composer''s much loved music..

Often listeners respond very well to settings that demonstrate a sense of humor and fun without being irreverent. David Schelat walks that tightrope admirably in this collection of hymn tune arrangements. There is a variety of moods and techniques here, as well as a few that present more challenges than others (LLANFAIR, for example, which has pedal flourishes). A great new collection to have around.

Among the numerous Requiem settings of the 19th century, only very few are scored for male voices. Although several compositions (by, amongst others, Max Reger and Peter Cornelius) are designated 'Requiem', these are usually only single-movement works, not settings of the entire text of the ordinary. To date, only four complete settings for male choir - by Luigi Cherubini, Franz Liszt, Hugo Kaun and Lorenzo Perosare - are known. With the first edition of the Requiem by Johann Christian Heinrich Rinck for solo voices, male choir and organ, a further work is being made available for performance. Rinck, celebrated as the Rhenish Bach and as a worldwide famous composer, wrote it in 1836.

A very practical collection for accompanying hymns. Composer Edward Eicker has taken ten familiar and frequently-used hymn tunes and provided each with an artful introduction and a free harmonization, often used for a final stanza. In addition, there is a modulation provided for each tune that takes the hymn up one step. The modulation is followed by the same free harmonization in the new key. This collection provides organists with great flexibility—any one of the four items provided for the hymns can be used by itself or in any combination with the others.
