The series Morgen kommt der Weihnachtsmann has been conceived for making music together in the Christmas season. Special emphasis is placed on duet playing with 2 identical instruments: with 2 violins (ED 5475), 2 violas (ED 7935), 2 violoncellos (ED 5548), 2 descant recorders (ED 7934), and 2 flutes (ED 8026). Since words have been set to the upper part (melody part), the obvious thing to do would be to perform the pieces with voice and accompaniment. The settings are easy so that even musicians with little practice can play along. This series includes two editions for piano which can be combined with all instrumental volumes: In addition to the known very easy edition for piano beginners with mainly two-part settings in five-note range ('very easy', ED 5325), there is for the first time a more sonorous two- or three-part edition for moderately advanced players ('easy to intermediate', ED 22507). This new edition is ideal for accompanying the instrumental parts.

'Two pieces of scherzo character in triple time flank a slower movement in duple time. The first burlesque entitled 'Quarrel' is Márta's piece, Nov. 1908, is a dispute between two opposing characters, with grimaces and taunts. The second burlesque, with the subtitle 'Slightly Tipsy' or 'A bit drunk' is one of Bartók's ingenious programme music miniatures, with characteristic performance indications. The figure appearing in a stumbling rhythm begins to sing indifferently, then continues ruvido (coarsely). By the end of the middle section, to be played in dry tone, our hero collapses completely, and takes leave as a pitiful figure, like the wooden puppet after the dance in The WoodenPrince ballet. ...Finally, the titleless third burlesque, Molto vivo, capriccioso, also stimulates the imagination: one can detect in it the grotesque rush of the last bagatelle, 'My Dancing Sweetheart,' just like the Wooden Prince dance. The two piano pieces were inspired by a statue which can be seen in the Egyptian Collection of the Louvre in Paris. The full-length portrait of the couple holding hands was carved in wood by the unknown master more than 4000 years ago (i.e. between 2350-2200, the time of the VIth dynasty's reign). We don't know who they are, where they come from, and we also don't know where they are going. All we see is that they belong together. And in Kurtag's music we can now also hear their quiet footsteps| Kurtag wrote the pieces in April-May 2013. The first piece is dedicated to pianist Menahem Pressler, celebrating his 90th birthday that year, the second piece (Double) to the French pianist-teacher, Valerie Haluk. The two pieces can be performed together or separately. This edition has been published for Gyorgy Kurtag's 90th birthday. (Tunde Szitha).

Arnold Schonberg is the central figure in the musical world of this century. His musical significance was already apparent during his life-time, but his posthumous influence has increased immensely. His work paved the way for ground-breaking changes in musical perception. This complete edition aspires to be equally indispensable for research as well as for performance. The edition is published in two series: series A in folio format contains all completed works, all piano scores prepared by the composer himself and all unfinished works suitable for performance; also fragments (large scores) which are better suited to be printed in such a format. Series B, in quarto format, contains early versions, sketches, ideas and fragments as well as genesis and a Critical Commentary.

Sibelius secured his international reputation as a 20th-century classic above all with his large orchestral works. However, his vocal works, including the songs for voice and orchestra, are just as important and innovative. They combine Sibelius's masterful command of the orchestral apparatus with a uniquely sensitive feeling for the textual sources. They range from the dramatic ballad Koskenlaskijan morsiamet Op. 33 to the intimate, lyrical Arioso Op. 3, and from the post-Wagnerian Serenad JS 183 (presented here for the first time) to the boldly orchestrated vision Luonnotar Op. 70. Following the two books of songs with piano accompaniment, this volume of the Sibelius Complete Edition (JSW) will definitely make an important contribution to the international reception of Sibelius' works.

Written in honor of a friend who succumbed tragically to leukemia shortly after high school, Elegie contemplates the emotional cycle of mourning - heart-breaking loss and flashes of anger surface, yet there is still time to celebrate a wonderous life. Built on two simple melodies – first a sad lament, then a happy yet nostalgic variation on the same tune. Early Advanced.

''In this composition I was not searching for the conventional possibilities of the piano quintet, but for the acoustic distance between the two types of sound. The sounds of the piano are not meant to be the acoustic-harmonic support for the strings, but it is the string quartet that appears as the acoustic extension of the piano. Other times the single instruments of the quartet sound more or less independently of each other and they echo each other. Their asynchrony multiplies the sound-space, like the loose play of peasant musicians.'' (L. Vidovszky) The piece was commissioned by Kunstfest Weimar for the concerts entitled Visions - Hommage a Franz Liszt''. It was premieredon August 27, 2011 in Weimar, performed by the soloists of Klangforum Wien.
