Agitato: This is a movement with a clear romantic intention, as well as passionate. It is like a projection of different colors in an atmosphere of lightness. In this case I probably had Mendelssohn in the back of my mind. Everything in it is extroverted. Vigor and gentleness alternate until reaching the end, where I make a clear allusion to the music of Bach. The movement ends in a fast arpeggio.Capriccio: This part has a humorous touch to it. An evidently burlesque subject matter matches the various rhythmic and harmonic combinations. I do not wish to conceal a similarity of style with the music of Prokofiev. As a reminder, my Sonatina for violin solo comes from an idea taken from this Russian master's Sonata, also for violin solo. The mood is marcato and sharp, alternating expressive moments with others of a mysterious nature. To end up with, a fast and lively coda.Ricordo: It has a burlesque introduction, but this serves as a preamble to the expressive nature of the whole. There are several emotional atmospheres in which harmony plays an essential part. The left hand will be responsible for the melody while the right hand constantly draws semiquavers all in a reflexive mood. In the end, the music fades away gently.Animato: This movement brings us back to the extroverted mood of the Agitato. It transitions from an impressionistic atmosphere at the beginning, to a vigorous and energetic climate. Groups of 4, 5 and 6 notes with semiquavers cause certain instability, controlled, on the other hand, by an unchanging tempo. The movement ends in a forceful marcato, though in an overall maestoso atmosphere.

Left-hand broken chords create a warm harmonic texture in this reflective piece. Section A is in A minor in 3/4 time while the contrasting Section B is in A major in 4/4 time with both hands playing thick, sonorous chords. It calls for expressive playing, legato pedaling, and voicing an expressive, cantabile melody.

Carter Pann writes, the piece might have been titled Three Improvisations, but there is an expressive inertia baked in to these works which makes them truer as rhapsodies. This description tells us much about the work, whose movements are an enterprising tango, a bombastic central movement with virtuosic thrust, and a and a hymn heard from afar without any sense of marked time.Three Rhapsodies was commissioned by the American Composers Forum with complete support from the Thelma E. Hunter Fund. The premiere performance took place in Kilbourn Hall at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York by pianist Marina Lomazov. As with all of my piano works, this was very much an at-the-piano compositional experience. As a pianist I cannot imagine writing a solo work away from the instrument (though at times that would be quite convenient). The whole work explores a palette of impassioned emotions – sometimes veiled, sometimes emboldened, or even outrageous at times. There are technical freedoms in each movement, allowing the pianist to stretch their interpretive inclinations to great lengths. In this way the piece might have been titled Three Improvisations, but there is an expressive inertia baked in to these works which make them truer as rhapsodies. The first movement is a tango with real wanderlust. The second reminds me of Rachmaninoff’s Polka de W.R. in its bombast, but also Chopin’s sixteenth prelude with its sheer virtuosic thrust. The third is a hymn heard from afar with no rhythmic drive, only sheened sonority.

The Treble And Bass Sectors Of The Keyboard Are Clearly Contrasted AndOften Widely Separated. In Atmosphere And Expression The Music Is Another Kind Of Two-Part Invention, Contrasting Bright, Upwards-Arching Phrases (Heard At The Opening And Evoking The Arrival Of Light At The Beginning Of The Day) With Veiled, Mysterious Scurryings, Suggesting The Stranger, More Nervous Life Lived At Night And In The Early Morning. Federico Ruiz finds constant inspiration in the rich popular and folkloric music of his country, the very thing that first attracted Clara Rodriguez to his compositions. They first met in 1993 and she became acquainted not only with his music, but, through it, discovered the precision and the soft expressiveness of each of the numerous rhythms of Latin America and the Caribbean. His music is a sophisticated synthesis of Latin American styles that, amongst many other traits, expresses the subtle interface between â??classicalâ?? and â??popularâ?? music of the continent.TrÃptico Tropical, Merengue and Zumba que Zumba.

This series of easy piano pieces for teaching purposes presents pupils in the early and early-middle stages with a careful selection from well-known and less-known compositions by important masters. The individual volumes are deliberately kept small in extent, since it is more stimulating for children if the literature used for instruction is changed frequently. Of all Grieg's piano music, it is the Lyric Pieces (EB 8832) that enjoy the greatest popularity. These character pieces, which are very varied in their difficulty and their length, preoccupied the composer throughout his creative life. The easiest pieces from the first three books (op. 12, 38 and 43) have been chosen for the present volume. In the musical sense, however, they are by no means light-weight. Only someone who has made the art of playing expressively in the Romantic style his own with the help of Schumann's Scenes from childhood (EB 8436) will be able to interpret this poetry filled with the soul of nordic peoples appropriately. Interpretative indications have been partly added to; fingerings and the distribution of the music between the hands have, as far as possible, been adapted to smaller hands. Sensitive use of the pedal and a tempo rubato imbued with the sense of the music are prerequisites. Heinz Walter, Salzburg, Summer 1977.

There's a tinge of sadness in this romantic ballad in A minor. Section A is allegro con moto with easy L.H. crossovers. Section B is slower and expressive having a steady eighth note pulse. Pedal is utilized throughout, and the repeated patterns make it easy to memorize.

“These real masterpieces, even if only a few minutes long, are of tremendous melodiousness and expressiveness!”, Franz Schubert said about Friedrich Kuhlau's sonatinas. The four Sonatinas Op. 88 were written in 1827, i.e. during Friedrich Kuhlau's middle creative period, even before the great success of the opera “Elfenhügel.” and the year of Beethoven's death. All four works contain beautiful melodic ideas, but Sonatina Op. 88 No. 3 with its minor tonality, its free treatment of form and tempo in the first movement and the lively last movement is something special. Of medium difficulty, this sonatina is great fun to play. This edition is accompanied by a preface and “Teaching Notes” by Monika Twelsiek. It is part of the new Schott Student Edition series which offers varied literature at five different levels of difficulty, from 1 (easy) to 5 (difficult), for instrumental lessons. For further information on this series, see www.schott-student-edition.com.

More and more people are looking for a way to offset the demands of everyday life by making music. Particularly welcome are pieces that often evoke poetic, meditative moods and are good for the soul through their simple harmonies. The majority of the pieces in this book arose from this premise. They also explore the multi-faceted expressive possibilities of the piano as well: they can convey exuberance, comfort, joy, longing, compassion, mourning, anger and ecstasy, but also mystical moments. Short programmatic annotations in the musical text, along with the titles and the music on the audiotracks, awaken inner relationships that infuse more spirit into ones playing. And the possibility of expressing feelings while playing can also be a motivation to expand ones own piano-technical resources.,,Dans la selection de Michael Proksch, tout est propice a l'improvisation, plus classique que reellement jazz. Le CD joint donne une bonne idee.(Pianiste).
