New edition based on the recently-discovered partial autograph from Országos Széchényi Könyvtár Budapest..This new Urtext edition of Mozart's Piano Sonata in A major K331 (300i), with the famous final Rondo 'Alla turca', draws on a recently-discovered autograph source to create a version which has substantial differences - particularly in the six variations and the Menuetto - to earlier editions. In the preface, the editor, Klaus Burmeister, considers this new edition within the history (dating back to 1784) of printed editions of the sonata, particularly at Edition Peters. The editor also pays particularly attention to the specific use of articulation marks, as Mozart learned to use them from his father Leopold. Liszt was one of the greatest piano virtuosos of the 19th century and a very influential teacher who played an enormous part in the development of modern piano technique. For this reason the majority of his works make the highest technical demands of the performer - this selection, however, contains only pieces at an intermediate difficulty level. In addition to the hits (D flat major Consolation, Liebestraum No. 3) the moderately advanced student or amateur player will discover real finds such as the three pieces in the Bunte Reihe ( Colourful Series ), the earlier version of the Valse impromptu and the Romance oubliée ( Forgotten Romance ) and the later, simplified versionthe composer made of the i>Grand galop chromatique. This publication was based on the EMB New Liszt Edition, but bearing practical considerations in mind. Playing - is just playing. It requires a great deal of freedom and initiative from the performer. On no account should the written image be taken seriously but the written image must be taken extremely seriously as regards the musical process, the quality of sound and silence. Our purpose in compiling this volume was to gather attractive pieces that are neither too long nor too technically difficult so that the collection would be as varied as possible and show many different 'faces' of Beethoven. In the selection process the most important consideration was the musical aspect, thus the works are arranged not in order of difficulty, but more or less by composition date. Bach's Two-Part Inventions, first printed in 1801, have played a key role in modern-day music education for decades. Bach dedicated the predecessor of these works to his son, Wilhelm Friedemann they were originally-titled Preambulum and compiled within the collection of piano music known today as Klavierbüchlein für Wilhelm Friedemann Bach (1720). The principle aim of these pedagogical works was to promote the acquisition of clean two-part playing as well as stylistically-sound cantabile playing. As a musical form, the invention left its mark on the music composition tendencies and conventions of the 17th century as well as its musical performance practices. Bach'sinventions as a whole also provide students with insight into the fundamentals of counterpoint.
