SATB vocal soli, SATB choir, recorder, oboe I/oboe d'amore, oboe II-III, bassoon, 3 trumpets, timpani, 2 violins, viola, basso continuo SKU: CA.3106961 Cantata for 12th Sunday after Trinity. Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Edited by Klaus Hofmann. This edition: urtext. Stuttgart Urtext Edition: Bach vocal. Violin 1. Sacred vocal music, Cantatas, Trinity. Single Part, Violin 1. BWV BWV 69a. 8 pages. Duration 25 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 31.069/61. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3106961). ISBN 9790007206697. Text language: German/English. Bach's Cantata BWV 69a of 1723, which has remained largely unknown to the present day, is now available for the first time in a practical edition with this Carus publication. It has been unjustly neglected as it was overshadowed by the Cantata BWV 69 of the same name, a piece which Bach reworked to celebrate the inauguration of Leipzig Town Council in 1748. On that occasion Bach re-used the parts from 1723 for simplicity, and adapted them for the new use by means of cuts, alterations, and additions - something which certainly did not mean that he rejected the 1723 version. This version can readily be recovered from the parts of 1723, if we explore beyond the alterations of 1748. With its rich wind instruments and great opening chorus, the 1723 cantata is in no way inferior to the later festive music in terms of musical splendor. The text takes the Gospel reading about the healing of the deaf and dumb man as a reason for praise and thanks for God's good deeds. In contrast to the later version, in which God is thanked for the wisdom of the Leipzig authorities, the original version of 1723 is free of such contemporary references, and is suitable for use in worship and concerts in many different ways. Score and part available separately - see item CA.3106900. $7.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks | | |

Language: Latin. Franz Xaver Richter probably wrote his Missa in A, with the nickname Hyemalis (winter), between 1781 and 1783, during his tenure as Kapellmeister at the Strasbourg Cathedral. This peculiar epithet leads us to presume that the Mass was meant to be performed during a sacred service in a time period between Epiphany and the Sunday before Ash Wednesday (Quinquagesima). SATB vocal soli, SATB choir, 2 flutes, 2 horns, 2 violins, viola, basso continuo SKU: CA.2707114 Messe in A. Composed by Franz Xaver Richter. Edited by Michael Diorio. Messe In A 1788 (Hyemalis). Sacred vocal music, Masses, Latin. Single Part, Cello/Double Bass. 20 pages. Duration 35 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 27.071/14. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.2707114). ISBN 9790007199982. Key: A major. The present work, a first edition, is a Messe sollenne senza Trombe, in which Richter achieved a festive character with musical variety by means of a comparably modest ensemble. Sacred vocal music, Cantatas, Lent and Passiontide, Holy Week, Feasts of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Hymns in praise of the Virgin Mary. Single Part, Viola 1. Composed 1714. BWV 182. 8 pages. Duration 30 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 31.182/12. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3118212). ISBN 9790007050290. Key: A major. Language: German/English. Text: Franck, Salomo. Text: Salomo Franck. Version in A major (version in G major: Carus 31.182/50) The cantata Himmelskonig, sei willkommen BWV 182 holds a special place in Johann Sebastian Bach's biography. He had been employed as organist and chamber musician at the court of Weimar since 1708; on 2 March 1714, he was appointed concert master of the court, and his inauguration music for this occasion was Himmelskonig, sei willkommen. The cantata was first performed on Palm Sunday of that year, 25 March 1714. Bach performed this cantata several times - always revising and amending it - both in Weimar and in Leipzig. Of the altogether four versions, the first Leipzig version has been selected for the present new edition. Unlike the Weimar versions, it can be realized effectively using modern performance means. In his debut composition of 1714, the newly appointed concert master demonstrated his abilities: the eight movements contain a multitude of beautiful and rewarding challenges for choir and vocal soloists alike, and in addition there is the unusual attraction of a virtuoso solo part for the recorder.
