SATB vocal soli, SATB choir, 2 oboes, oboe da caccia, bassoon solo, violin solo, strings, basso continuo SKU: CA.3117714 Cantata for the 4th Sunday after Trinity. Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Edited by Tobias Rimek. This edition: urtext. Stuttgart Urtext Edition: Bach vocal. Violoncello. Sacred vocal music, Cantatas, Whitsun. Single Part, Cello. Composed 1732. BWV 177. 12 pages. Duration 13 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 31.177/14. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3117714). ISBN 9790007209841. Text language: German/English. The cantata Ich ruf zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ begins with an expansive chorale arrangement, for which Bach reverted to a proven model: The four voices of the solo ensemble take over the chorale, in which the melody lies in the soprano. For stanzas 2-4 Bach chooses the aria form with a highly differentiated scoring from movement to movement, ranging from a continuo Aria (1st movement), up to an aria accompanied by the violin, with obbligato bassoon and continuo. A straightforward four-part chorale movement concludes the cantata. Score and part available separately - see item CA.3117700. $4.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Edited by Reinhold Kubik. Arranged by Paul Horn. Hymns by Martin Luther: Aus tiefer Not schrei ich zu dir. German title: Aus tiefer Not schrei ich zu dir. Sacred vocal music, Cantatas. Set of Orchestra Parts. Composed 1724. BWV 38. Duration 21 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 31.038/19. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3103819). ISBN 9790007136093. Key: E phrygian. Language: German. Text: Luther, Martin. Text: Martin Luther. The opening movement of Bach's chorale cantata on Luther's In deepest need I cry to you BWV 38, which was composed for the 21st Sunday after Trinity Sunday, belongs to a group of cantatas whose opening choruses are not concertante but have been kept in the style of a motet; the instruments merely amplify the vocal parts. The archaic character of the movement is emphasized by the addition of a trombone quartet. An exciting recitative and an aria full of pungent harmonies is followed by an entirely unusual recitative in which the chorale melody forms the bass foundation for the vocal part. A second aria - which is no less unusual -is a trio which is only accompanied by the continuo; it leads into the concluding chorale which, pursuant to the 1st line of text Ob bei uns ist der Sunden viel, already begins with a brusque dissonance. Score and parts available separately - see item CA.3103800. $86.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Orchestra SATB vocal soli, SATB choir, 2 oboes, [4 trombones], 2 violins, viola, basso continuo - Grade 3 SKU: CA.3103812 Cantata for the 21st Sunday after Trinity. Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Edited by Reinhold Kubik. Arranged by Paul Horn. Hymns by Martin Luther: Aus tiefer Not schrei ich zu dir. German title: Aus tiefer Not. Sacred vocal music, Cantatas. Single Part, Violin 2. Composed 1724. BWV 38. 2 pages. Duration 21 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 31.038/12. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3103812). ISBN 9790007042806. The cantata Die Himmel erzahlen die Ehre Gottes (The heavens are telling of God in glory) BWV 76 by Johann Sebastian Bach was written for the 2nd Sunday after Trinity, which fell on 6 June 1723 in the year it was first performed. This ambitious two-part work was the second cantata which Bach wrote after taking up the position of Kantor of St. Thomas's in Leipzig. Bach's aim was evidently to demonstrate a particularly wide range of musical forms in both the arias and the recitatives in this cantata. The opening chorus is based on verses 2 and 4 of Psalm 19, with verse 4 structured as a choral fugue. Both parts of the cantata end with a chorale movement with different verses from the Lutheran hymn Es woll uns Gott genadig sein. The text refers loosely to the epistle reading from the 1st letter of St John, but deals more with general thoughts about the temptations of the Christian which can be overcome through love. Bach also performed the first part of the cantata later with minor revisions, but evidently no alterations to the text, on Reformation Day in Leipzig.
