Teach violin with the popular Suzuki Violin School! The Suzuki Method of Talent Education is based on Shinichi Suzuki's view that every child is born with ability, and that people are the product of their environment. According to Shinichi Suzuki, a world-renowned violinist and teacher, the greatest joy an adult can know comes from developing a child's potential so he/she can express all that is harmonious and best in human beings. Students are taught using the mother-tongue approach. Each series of books for a particular instrument in the Suzuki Method is considered a Suzuki music school, such as the Suzuki Violin School. Suzuki lessons are generally given in a private studio setting with additional group lessons. The student listens to the recordings and work with their Suzuki violin teacher to develop their potential as a musician and as a person. This CD of the Suzuki violin method, Volume 1 features recordings by Hilary Hahn in collaboration with pianist Natalie Zhu, as well as piano accompaniment only tracks for play-along purposes. About Suzuki Method
The Suzuki Method is based on the principle that all children possess ability and that this ability can be developed and enhanced through a nurturing environment. All children learn to speak their own language with relative ease and if the same natural learning process is applied in teaching other skills, these can be acquired as successfully. Suzuki referred to the process as the Mother Tongue Method and to the whole system of pedagogy as Talent Education. The important elements of the Suzuki approach to instrumental teaching include the following:an early start (aged 3-4 is normal in most countries); the importance of listening to music; learning to play before learning to read; -the involvement of the parent; a nurturing and positive learning environment; a high standard of teaching by trained teachers; the importance of producing a good sound in a balanced and natural way; core repertoire, used by Suzuki students across the world; social interaction with other children. Suzuki students from all over the world can communicate through the language of music.

Combines and replaces the two original publications of Sounds of a Rainbow Book 1 from Spartan Press (SP950-1), into this volume that includes both duets and violin and piano versions in one volume.Whether a student or a great artist, the desire to make a beautiful sound is a constant in the life of any musician. Sound is the musician’s voice, the means of communicating an artistic vision to the audience and it should be the aim for children of any age or standard to be engaged in good tone production. The inspiration for writing the pieces for this book came to me from the wish to give the young children I teach music which would develop their ear for both good intonation and beautiful tone production. All the pieces have a strongly implied harmonic structure allowing them to be played without accompaniment. The purpose of the second violin part is therefore to enable the teacher to underline the harmony as well as to influence the student’s tone production and intonation through his own sound, as much can be taught by good example. The violin student also has the option to play with piano. The accompaniments included within this book are written by Heidi Rolfe. The choice of keys in this book covers most of the requirements for scales in the Associated Board syllabus Grade 1.Finally I think that children enjoy the challenge of expressing different moods and emotions musically, and I hope that the range of ideas implied by the keys and the titles of these pieces will fire their imagination.Nigel GoldbergGrade 1Former Spartan Press Cat. The most important aspect of the violin method 'Die frohliche Violine' is the fun of learning to play the violin: The textbook is aimed at an early playful beginning with the instrument. Over the course of the lessons, the pupils are deliberately addressed in a language that corresponds to their age. Furthermore, the method provides a stylistically varied range of classical and folkloristic instrumental pieces, and always gives a lot of interesting information on the music and its composers.Vol. 1: Detailed introduction to the bow hold - songs and instrumental pieces, using exclusively the first type of fingering while focussing on rhythmic, melodic and technical variety - playful touching and feeling of violin-playing techniques such as pizzicato, position playing, harmonics and double stops. Vol. 1 is accompanied by a CD (T 3272) containing all songs and pieces with funny dialogues spoken by children. A motivating addition to violin lessons and a great gift idea!

Carefully selected and curated to support teachers and students in their artistic and technical development, the Violin Series, 2021 Edition includes pieces from a diverse range of eras and styles that represent stepping stones to major violin repertoire. Each level is constructed to link repertoire selections to necessary techniques and corresponding etudes, while illustrating step-by-step connections for developing core skills. Each Repertoire book includes access to quality video and audio recordings by some of North America's finest violinists and accompanists; both performance and accompaniment-only tracks for each Repertoire selection offer students a model for performance practice and the convenience of accompanied rehearsal at home.
Violin Repertoire 1 offers selections at various tempos that explore familiar D major/minor and A major/minor tonalities in first position, while encouraging further development of hand-frame knowledge in the keys of G major and C major across the fingerboard. Through a broad cross-section of pieces in simple and compound time, enriched piano accompaniments enhance lyricism and tone production. The pieces explore bow development and division using a variety of lengths, while also introducing hooked bows and slurs. New experiences include artificial harmonics, glissando, and double stops; duets are included to provide opportunities for in-class and recital collaboration. Featured composers include Harold Birston, Christine Donkin, Robert Fleming, Christine Gale, Terence Greaves, Ricky Hyslop, Michael Joncas, Dmitri Kabalevsky, Christopher Norton, Mary Alice Rich, Alec Rowley, and Robert Schumann.
