Premiere Slovak Radio Orchestra, June 30, 1992, Bratislava, Slovakia, Robert Black, conductor; Lydia Forbes, violin. Henry V is an overture, but with a violin protagonist. This is a concerto, but the density of interaction between soloist and orchestra is far more intense than in any previous work, whether classical or modern. Its form is somewhat analogous to sonata, but it middle sectionbreaks away completely from what has come before into an exhilarating 5-8 ostinato. There is a joy in dissonance here, an embracing of pain, and all the sorrow of existence, as part a Gita-like vision of the horrible, terrifying beauty of men throwing themselves into the slaughter, straining their utmost in a joyous ‘dance’of mud and death. As such, the energy of the piece is compact, and onfirst listen, potentially overwhelming. Metaphors of the individual coming out of a society, being influenced by and then interacting with that society, and then finally leading it are strongly evoked by this work in a non-specific, archetypal way. Trance means an altered state of mind in which a person becomes capable of communicating with spirits by the means of a ritual. Echo like sounds have a significant role in the piece, they were achieved by aleatoric as well as metric materials. Our prehistoric ancestors experienced echo as a side effect of rituals they performed, basically they heard the echo of their own voices but they believed these sounds came from their ancestors. As 2013 was the 90th anniversary of Gyorgy Ligeti's birth, my piece pays respect to his musical heritage. In this regard the piece references Ligeti's artistic aesthetics and in some cases uses direct musical quotations.(Mate Bella, 2013)The work won first prize at the 2013 New Hungarian Music Forum In memoriam Gyorgy Ligeti composer's competition in chamber music category. It was premiered by Katalin Kokas and the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Gergely Vajda on 25 September 2013 in Budapest.

Since 1973 he has been a producer for radio broadcasts with France Musiques . Refusing to play tricks with history, Philippe Hersant has forged a language that extends the course of Western music as a whole, and, without ever seeking to establish a school, he was one of the first of his generation to place himself, once more, in the domain of tonality and modality. He does not, for all that, banish all neo-classical tendencies. On the contrary, he champions the mannerism and the deep subjectivity of his memory as sources and guides to creation.

Crazy Train was co-written by one of Mark Wood's main influences and favorite guitar players, Randy Rhoads, a neo-classical rock guitar player. When Wood discovered him, Rhoads was fully entrenched in the standard rock/blues style, yet had wonderful control of the flourish and esthetic of classical music in his playing. The influence was perfect for Mark Wood, who was an up-and-coming rock violinist at the time.
