| Complete Bach Transcriptions Piano solo Crescendo Music Publications
Piano SKU: C4.9790902257176 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Edited by ...(+)
Piano SKU: C4.9790902257176 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Edited by Daniel Mitterdorfer and Harold Fabrikant. Arranged by Eugen d'Albert. Classical. Score. Crescendo Music Publications #9790902257176. Published by Crescendo Music Publications (C4.9790902257176). ISBN 9790902257176. 8.27 x 11.7 inches. Eugen d'Albert (1864-1932) enjoyed an illustrious and colourful career as both concert pianist and composer. He wished to include J.S. Bach's music in his concerts and sought the grandeur of some of the large secular organ works. The transcriptions he made for this purpose are arguably better than the numerous Bach transcriptions made by his contemporaries. D'Albert's versions of eight secular masterworks present them remarkably close to their original form, yet perfectly matched to the modern piano. At times, they make very considerable technical demands, but the effort to master them is amply rewarded.
This 116-page volume marks their first appearance since they were first issued over a century ago. Many errors and inaccuracies have been remedied and English translations of his musical terms have been provided. $37.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 4 to 6 weeks | | |

| Complete Chorales Breitkopf & Härtel

Chorus a cappella SKU: BR.CHB-5377 Urtext. Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Choir; Softbound. Chor-Bibliothek (Choral Library). Baroque period. Sheet Music. Breitkopf and Haertel #CHB 5377. Published by Breitkopf and Haertel (BR.CHB-5377). ISBN 9790004413784. 7.5 x 10.5 inches. German. The Complete Chorales are an Urtext edition of all four-part chorales by Johann Sebastian Bach and the new standard in editing for this genre. Musicologist Thomas Daniel, a well-known specialist for the topic of Bach chorales, divided the chorales in two parts of about equal length: Chorales from cantatas, motets, and passions that were confirmedly written by Bach are found in the first part, while the second part includes chorales from later sources and printings, e.g. the four-volume edition published by Breitkopf in 1784 to 1787. Thereby, the authentic chorales are clearly separated from the chorales of partly dubious authorship for the first time. Drawing on new sources, e.g. from the archive of the Berliner Sing-Akademie, some settings can even be attributed to Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach - contrary to his claim in the preface of the Breitkopf edition that all songs were created by my dear late father. The volume includes an informative preface and a separate introduction on the edition for both parts while giving editorial remarks for each chorale for the first time, directly below the score. Additionally, it provides helpful indices that allow searches for text incipits, BWV numbers, melody composers, and lyricists.Get an insight into our material with the reading sample. In the Download section, you can also find a concordance to the previous edition. This is a treasure trove of fine music, beautifully presented and intelligently edited. [...] It will become my reference for Bach chorales. (Jeremy Summerly, Choir & Organ)
