Violin, cello and piano SKU: HL.49044398 For violin, violoncello and p...(+)
Violin, cello and piano SKU: HL.49044398 For violin, violoncello and piano. Composed by Toshio Hosokawa. Sheet music. Ensemble. Softcover. Composed 2013. Duration 11'. Schott Music #SJ10048. Published by Schott Music (HL.49044398). This piece is concerned with the world of shaman, which I have been very interested in lately. A shaman is a person who creates a path connecting this world and the underworld. In this trio, the violin represents female, and the cello male. The instruments sing a duo as an extension of the voices of two shamans. The piano is the cosmos and the nature. Violin and piano have a 'Yin and Yang' relationship, the creation principal of the Taoism cosmos: polar opposites which compliment one another without cancelling each other out, creating perfect harmony. Piano (Piano Solo) SKU: HL.51481453 Works of the 20th Century. Composed by Various. Edited by Jingxian Xie. Henle Music Folios. Chinese, Classical. Softcover. 88 pages. G. Henle #HN1453. Published by G. Henle (HL.51481453). UPC: 196288191933. 9.25x12.25x0.283 inches. This extraordinary edition includes a selection of ten piano works by Chinese composers from the second half of the 20th century. They are marked by Western influences while also reflecting the multifaceted folk music of China. They range from short character pieces to sonatinas, from simple song arrangements to multi-movement cycles. These works are of medium difficulty and offer a representative cross-section of a musical cosmos that remains largely unknown in Europe. Predominantly pentatonic in character, these works unite the magic of Far Eastern music with the sound of the piano. We were able to get the well-known pianist Jingxian (âJaneâ) Xie from Shanghai to select these compositions, which she herself regularly performs in the concert hall. She not only provided the fingerings, but has also written a preface that offers a general overview of modern Chinese piano music and introductions to each of the individual pieces. CONTENTS: Wei Qu: Flower Drum Pei-Xun Chen: Thunder during a Drought Li-San Wang: Sonatina Hu-Wei Huang: Pictures from Bashu Yi-Qiang Sun: Threshing Dance Wang-Hua Chu: The Moon Reflected in the Erquan Spring Jian-Zhon wang: A Hundred Birds Pay Homage to the Phoenix Jian-Zhong Wang: Colorful Clouds Chasing the Moon Ying-Hai Li: Adieux at Yangguan Li-San Wang: The Sound of the Waves. UPC: 680160921102. Key: E lydian. English. The Vastness of the Universe Jonas Hallgrimsson (1807-1845). About Jónas HalgrÃmsson (1807-1845) was an Icelandic poet, author and naturalist, who is considered one of Iceland's most renowned poets. Considered a Romantic writer, the strong imagery in his poetry was influenced heavily by the landscapes around him.The imagery, excitement, and curiosity of the universe leapt off the page and the music almost wrote itself. Reflecting on the cosmos and origin of the heavens, the poetry elicits excitement and stirs spatial imagery - ...speeding spark of light, ...wings swifter than wind..., ...I watched the stars...rise from the still stream of heaven... The pure and almost child-like fascination with the universe and its expansion and progression fuels the perpetual rhythm of the work as it continually pushes forward.A good friend asked if I would write a song for her ensemble. The original voicing, for SAB choir, contained parameters in that it had to be three-part with a limited range in the Bass part. With these stipulations I began to write. I searched for something that would be exciting for them and landed on Jonas Halgrimsson’s writings. I believe it is equally as exciting, accessible and challenging for treble choirs.Note to the DirectorTruly consider how the work can come to ‘life’ off the page. Rise and fall with phrase and sometimes each note. The magic exists beyond the ink on the page!Consideration to range, tessitura, and content was all considered as part of this process in creating music that is accessible to all programs and ensembles.Accompaniment NoteThe accompaniment can look intimidating, but please feel free to alter the pulsing eighth notes in the left hand with the eighth notes in the right-hand so it creates a compound rhythm. So long as the momentum of the work is pressed onward, you are doing this work justice. SATB Choir, Piano SKU: CA.926600 From: Sonne, Mond und Sterne. Composed by Peter Schindler. Carus digital: Extra digital products. Full Score. Duration 3 minutes. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.926600). ISBN 9790007295554. German. Peter Schindler's full-length secular choral work Sonne, Mond und Sterne (Sun, Moon and Stars) narrates a love story based on old texts which are given a new interpretation through these musical settings. Some individual numbers were published in spring, and now more movements with piano accompaniment are available in print and digitally.- choral work of medium difficulty- will appeal to experienced Brahms Requiem singers as well as ambitious chamber or youth choirs with a gospel, pop or jazz background-cross-over between jazz, chanson, and chamber music Peter Schindler about O Ewigkeit:We step on the stage of life, pull the curtains wide open and venture a glance at the eternal course of the stars. A powerful choral tutti sounds, the key note of C held on in the basses emphasizes the steadfastness of eternity, and above this is chromatic movement in the upper voices which produces friction. In the following softer central section, female and male voices sing separately. They sing in characteristic Gregorian style in vivid images of the immeasurable sand in the ocean, of tears and trickles, of the great beginning and the end of the cosmos. The verses from 1625 convey an image of astonishment, of seeking and not least also of comfort. The text functions as a framework, as it is repeated in a shortened form in the last number of Sonne, Mond und Sterne. It encapsulates the many life situations which are sketched and sung about in the staged cantata in metaphysical questions. $5.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

| Ode on St. Cecilia's Day 1692 Z 328 Breitkopf & Härtel

Chorus (with soloists) and piano (solos: SAATBB - choir: SSAATB - 2rec.B-fl.2.0.0. - 0.2.0.0. - timp - str - bc) SKU: BR.ED-10296 Hail! Bright Cecilia. Composed by Henry Purcell. Edited by Christopher Hogwood. Choir; stapled. Renaissance/early Baroque; Baroque. Piano/Vocal Score. 80 pages. Duration 60'. Breitkopf and Haertel #ED 10296. Published by Breitkopf and Haertel (BR.ED-10296). ISBN 9790220101977. 7.5 x 11 inches. The Ode was admirably set by Mr. Henry Purcell, and performed twice with universal applause. (The Gentlemen's Journal, 1692)
The popularity of Purcell's setting is apparent from the many sources that survive and from the printed extracts which appeared almost immediately after its first performance. The primary source for this edition is the largely autograph manuscript in the Bodleian Library. Rather to reduce the orthography to a norm, the capitalization of the vocal text favours Purcell's preferences.
My father PhDr. Jaroslav Smolka (1933-2011) was a leading Czech musicologist author of books Czech Cantata and Oratorium Fuga in Czech Music Smetana's Orchestra Music Smetana's Vocal Music monography of Jan Dismas Zelenka and many others. He was a legendary teacher of Music History at Prague Music Academy critic recording producer composer; for almost 50 years he was an important and highly respected personality of Prague musical life. My father devoted a lot of time and energy to musical education and activities of my sister and me using often quite original methods such as teaching of intervals and counterpoint through Bartok's Microcosmos ear training filling all imaginable moments of everyday life or lessons of harmony analysis starting with Overture to Tristan and Musorgsky's Catacombs. The Martinu song Wondering Maiden was his solo number in our home vocal productions which he used to sing with amazing devotion while his huge voice was audible in several neighboring streets. My Agnus Dei is closely bound to all this history e.g. by using canon and preferring beauty of dissonant seconds like Bartok or quoting Martinu and his refined neoclassical harmony. Father would be probably a bit critical about the minimalistic monotony of the main body of the piece. Nevertheless firstly he would improvise a short lecture of history of Agnus Dei in Requiem in Czech Music naming by heart many dates and all examples of changes of order of the traditional text by composers. Examples would be sung probably. (Martin Smolka). $22.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 3 to 4 weeks

Chorus (with soloists) and piano (solos: TTB - choir: SST(A)TBB - 2.0.0.0. - 0.0.0.0. - vl.2va.vc/db) SKU: BR.ED-12658 Requiem. Composed by Andre Campra. Edited by Jean-Paul Montagnier. Choir; Softbound. Mass; Requiem; Baroque. Piano/Vocal Score. 70 pages. Duration 55'. Breitkopf and Haertel #ED 12658. Published by Breitkopf and Haertel (BR.ED-12658). ISBN 9790220121760. 7.5 x 11 inches. Among Campra's Latin works, the ,Messe de mort' is perhaps one of the more successful and today it is one of the more frequently performed. It is also the most enigmatic score of his entire output. Despite extensive researches, no evidence of any sort has yet been brought to light to document its origin, purpose, date of composition, first performance or reception. A stylistic analysis indubitably supports the contention that the ,Messe de mort' is a late work, composed perhaps between 1722 and 1729. The present edition is based on the manuscript from the Bibliotheque Nationale de France (Paris). It it the oldest known source of the work. The very few errors have been corrected.
