German title: Klavierquartett, -Quintett, -Sextet. Josef Gabriel Rheinberger. Complete Works. Full score (complete edition / selected edition). Carus Verlag #CV 50.231/00. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.5023100). ISBN 9790007090319. Volume 31 contains, among other works, the Piano Quartet, which was enthusiastically received by the critics in Rheinberger's time: The themes are noble, with significant content, the motivic development is rich and interesting, above all free from anything resembling a mould ... and such a healthy musical wind blows through the entire work that I believe I am not mistaken if I forsee for this work a great success. This is how a contemporary critic reviewed the work. Indeed, op. 38 proceeded to become the most successful of Rheinberger's chamber music works during his lifetime. The Sextet op. 191b is an effective arrangement of his Piano Trio No. 4 op. 191, for flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn and piano. All works are also available in separate editions. $233.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

4 Clarinets SKU: AP.1-ADV8415 Folksong from The Hebrides (for Clarinet Quartet). Arranged by Frank Reinshagen. Quartet; Solo Small Ensembles; Woodwind - Clarinet Quartet. Advance Music. Form: Variations. Folk; Traditional. Score and Part(s). Advance Music #01-ADV8415. Published by Advance Music (AP.1-ADV8415). UPC: 805095084153. English. Traditional. In writing these arrangements for clarinet quartet, Frank Reinshagen has created little masterpieces, which broaden the rhythmical and harmonic context of the original tunes in an interesting manner without detracting from their archaic and melancholic character. These original tunes are---in a direct or wider sense---of Celtic origin. In other words, they have been borrowed from the Irish, Scottish, and Gaelic musical tradition. These through-composed arrangements are rather easy to perform from the rhythmical and technical point of view. Yet, they are quite demanding in respect of the key they are written in, their intonation, and especially, their interpretation. Their different instrumentations are fully compatible with each other and, due to their overall structure, they are also suitable to be played with multi-scored parts.
Annotation on Aignish on the Machair: The arrangement of Aignish on the Machair, Folksong from The Hebrides, illustrates, above all, the melancholic character inherent in the harmonies of the original tune. A short rubato passage is followed by several variations over the flowing melody in 3/4-time. The short triplet passages embedded in these variations are quite demanding from the technical point of view; considering the key they are written in, however, these passages are not too difficult to play. $19.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 4 to 6 weeks

Concert Band (Score & Parts) SKU: HL.4008643 Score and Parts. Composed by Franco Cesarini. Arranged by Franco Cesarini. Editions Franco Cesarini. Concert Band, Tuning, Warm-Up. Softcover. Hal Leonard #EFC003-CBHA. Published by Hal Leonard (HL.4008643). ISBN 9798350114997. UPC: 196288189664. During his experience as a band conductor and teacher of wind orchestra conducting at university, Franco Cesarini has dealt with the topic of warm-ups very frequently. Throughout these long years of conducting he has had the opportunity to try many existing methods, evaluating their advantages and disadvantages. After a long time, he has decided to compile a collection of chorales for warm-ups, which are organized according to the criteria that he considers most effective. While working on his60 Warm-up Chorales for Concert Band, Franco Cesarini has always borne in mind that amateur musicians play for pleasure. He feels that it is extremely important that they have satisfaction at every moment of the rehearsal and not to start the rehearsal with needless “punishing†exercises. Nobody is really motivated to start playing with scales, long notes, or tricky rhythmical exercises. There is often a distinguished absentee in band rehearsals, namely music itself! Although this publication does not foresee a specific tempo for the chorales, they should often be performed rather slowly but without dragging. Dynamics are not indicated, so that the conductor has the opportunity to draw the attention of the musicians to his gestures and to make them react according to his indications. Timpani and bell parts have been added with the aim of not leaving the percussionists completely inactive during the warm-up phase, but can also be omitted. The chorales are written in four parts (SATB) and are also playable in smaller groups. The four voices can be played in different combinations of woodwinds or brass quartets or in mixed combinations. The collection includes ten chorales for the following keys: D flat major, A flat major, E flat major, B flat major, F major and C major. With his 60 Warm-up Chorales Franco Cesarini would like to convey the message to play the chorales in a musical way, thus raising the musicians’awareness of phrasing, the right interpretation of cadences, rubato and agogic. Above all, never do anything withoutputting the musical aspect in the foreground. $206.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Chamber Music Percussion, Percussion 1, Percussion 2, Percussion 3, Percussion 4 SKU: PR.114409860 Concertino for Roto Toms and Percussion Quartet. Composed by William Kraft. Encounters. Contemporary. Set of Score and Parts. With Standard notation. Composed 1976. 27+12+10+10+10+10 pages. Duration 10 minutes. Theodore Presser Company #114-40986. Published by Theodore Presser Company (PR.114409860). UPC: 680160014644. Here I have adapted a standard musical form to a contemporary medium. The concertino is a small concerto: a one-movement work that draws upon the basic principles of the concerto form - two bodies of sound which at times compete, contrast, or act together. The piece explores the musical possibilities of Roto-toms. The sound of these drums is a cross between a tom-tom and a timpani, and their pitch is changed by rotating the drum. During the course of the work, the various effects used include pitch and fingernail glissandi; playing on the rims; and playing on the heads with fingers, brushes, timpani sticks, wood mallets or rattan. Harmonics on the octave and the fourth above the fundamental pitch are produced by the drums when weights (in this case, small pitched cymbales called crotales) are placed in the center of the drum heads. In return the drum itself acts a resonator for the crotales, which also have a fundamental pitch when played on the face and a partial a fifth above when played on the center dome. The opening section of the concertino introduces a motive, played by the soloist, while the ensemble sustains a bowed chord on the vibraphone. Following this cadenza-like introduction, the piece gradually moves into a bright 6/8 tempo that is characterized by constant sixteenth notes in all parts. After a brief period of interaction, the ensemble continues its sixteenth notes patterns and the soloist plays and improvised solo. Next, an interlude is presented by the ensemble which leads to a dramatic recapitulation by the soloist of the motivic material. A thematically-derived coda concludes the work. Encounters VI, commissioned by Remo Belli, is dedicated to Jennifer Kraft, the composer's daughter. The premiere performance took place in 1976 at the MENC National Convention in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and was performed by the Temple University Percussion Ensemble conducted by Glenn Steele. --William Kraft. $46.99 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Clarinet Quintet - intermediate SKU: BT.DHP-1064015-070 Composed by Charles Francois Gounod and Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Lorenzo Bocci. Music Box. Set (Score & Parts). Composed 2006. 12 pages. De Haske Publications #DHP 1064015-070. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1064015-070). 9x12 inches. English-German-French-Dutch. Over the course of time, many composers have honoured the mother of Jesus with a musical Ave Maria (a Hail Mary). One of the most well-known is that of the French composer Charles François Gounod (1818-1893), who added a melody to the first prelude from Das Wohltemperierte Klavier by the German master-composer Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750). The result is a long, lyrical melody line with a wonderfully built-up curve of tension, floating above a softly sparkling accompaniment. Lorenzo Bocci has arranged the Ave Maria by Bach/Gounod for clarinet ensemble.
$23.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks
