On Christmas Eve 1950, the Italian Radio broadcast a radio play based on Adalbert Stifter's novella Rock Crystal. The music was written by Nino Rota, the translation was made by Gabriella Benci and Ippolito Pizzetti (the son of the composer Ildebrando Pizzetti, one of Rota's teachers). Here, too, the duo carefully edited the existing piano version. With these two pieces, the piano duet repertoire has taken on a whole new colour, and both performers and listeners can plunge into the atmosphere of Rota's film music. Hungarian composer, pianist and ethnomusicologist Béla Bartók (1881-1945) originally completed the cycle of 85 short piano pieces FOR CHILDREN in 1909. Each piece was based on a folk tune, with the first 42 being Hungarian, and the remaining 43 being Slovakian. Famed Hungarian violinist Joseph Szigeti (1892-1973) took six of the Hungarian folk tunes and transcribed them for violin and piano. As Bartók later removed and revised some of the songs in the collection, the following numbers included are the original numbers from the 1909 collection: No. 28 - Parlando, No. 18 - Andante con moto, No. 42 - Allegro vivace, No. 33 - Andante sostenuto, No. 6 - Allegro, No. 13 - Andante, No. 38 - Poco vivace. In addition to the original, more difficult violin part he transcribed originally, Szigeti also wrote a simplified version where only the first to fourth positions are used. Both violin versions are included in this edition.

Suite No. 1 is a hymn to the divinity of the dance. The piece explores all possibilities of extreme rhythm, harmony and orchestration in order to place special emphasis on the piano as a solo instrument with all its possibilities: from percussion instrument to lyric simplicity. At the end, the composer quotes the style of his scores together with the ancient tragedies in an epilogue with prominent signals from the wind section.

Massenet's Three Pieces for Piano, Four Hands Opus 11 was published in 1867. Two of the pieces were adapted for Cello in 1877. Mr. Sauer has arranged these two pieces for Trombone and Piano:
1.  Andante sostenuto
2. Allegretto vivo scherzando
The Andante is flowing and lyrical and the Allegretto is a lively 6/8 dance in A-B-A form.
The two movements total about 5 minutes and are appropriate for advanced performers.
