The alleluia refrain for the sprinkling rite and again for the gospel acclamation uses the melody of the undulating vesper antiphon for Low Sunday from the Liber usualis. The sprinkling rite is scored for cantor, assembly, and organ with a soprano descant for the refrain. Don’t miss the message for the music! The authors have restated the answer to this question from Scripture with a straightforward “the least likely person: a stranger otherwise.” And the “other” is Christ, whether orphan, widow, beggar, or prisoner. The song is scored for solo performance with guitar and keyboard accompaniment. Unison or Solo.

The tune SEGUNDO is intended specifically for hymn texts in long meter (LM, or 88 88) that can benefit from a sense of gravitas. In performance, the entire hymn may be sung by unison choir, or if desired, the beginning stanzas may be sung by one or more soloists or sections allowing the piece to build over its four stanzas, so that the last stanza, with its soaring descant, pours forth rife with emotion.
