Mixed choir a cappella - advanced SKU: HL.49018386 Composed by Hermann Schroeder. This edition: Saddle stitching. Sheet music. Edition Schott. Choral score. Composed 1961. 32 pages. Duration 16'. Schott Music #C52981. Published by Schott Music (HL.49018386). ISBN 9790001153508. UPC: 841886011977. 7.5x10.75x0.096 inches. Latin. Herrmann Schroeder (1904-1984), one of the most important church music composers of the 20th century, wrote this Latin mass in 1961, i.e. at the beginning of the Second Vatican Council. The Council marked a turning point in the field of church music: Masses in the respective native languages gained more and more acceptance, Gregorian chant faded into the background, stylistic features of popular music were also taken up in church music. Today, about 50 years after the beginning of the Council, one can see a return to Gregorian chant and polyphonic vocal music, and this is why even works such as Schroeder's Latin Missa melismatica arouse great interest again. The work takes the free intonation of the Gregorian chant as a starting-point and is enriched with wide-spun melodic arcs in elaborate polyphony, according to Schroeder's opinion that Gregorian chant and polyphony are particularly suitable for giving expression to the mysticism and irrationality of religious faith in the liturgy. A demanding work for good choirs, duration ca. 16 minutes. $8.99 - See more - Buy online
| Orgelsinfonie No. 16 'Martin Luther' Organ - Advanced Schott
Organ - advanced SKU: HL.49045437 For Organ. Composed by Enjott Sc...(+)
Organ - advanced SKU: HL.49045437 For Organ. Composed by Enjott Schneider. This edition: Saddle stitching. Sheet music. Organ Large Works. Classical. Softcover. Composed 2016. 48 pages. Duration 24'. Schott Music #ED 22668. Published by Schott Music (HL.49045437). ISBN 9790001162715. UPC: 841886029088. 9.0x12.0x0.168 inches. On the occasion of the quincentenary of Reformation Day in 2017, the composer Enjott Schneider thoroughly studied Martin Luther the individual and all his contradictions. The result is a brilliant, demanding organ symphony which is perfect for concerts on the subject of Reformation and Martin Luther. The composer describes the five movements of the symphony as follows:'1st movement:Wir glauben all an einen Gott with its quintuplet-like beginning is very Gregorian in style, outlining the range of Lutheran emotionalism between the Middle Ages and the modern era. The irrationality of faith ultimately has priority over any thought and evidence. At the beginning of the movement, sounds of knocking on wood remind of the nailing of the Ninety-Five Theses to the doors of churches in Wittenberg. The chorale melody sometimes hides with an almost rough medieval saltarello, referring to Luther's robustness and vitality with which he knew to carry away even common people.2nd movement:In 1530, the electoral prince of Saxony presented to Luther at Coburg Castle the golden signet ring with the Luther rose which became the symbol of his theology of grace. A white heart with black cross is fixed on a five-petalled rose. To him, white is the colour of angels and ghosts, black stands for the pain of crucification: The just shall live by faith, but by faith in the Crucified. But the fact that the rose and the heart are the dominating symbols shows how Catholic Marian piety remained an ingredient of Luther's spirituality throughout his life. In line with the dominant five-petal structure of the rose, this movement was composed, to a large extent, in accordance with the floating, lyrical rhythm in 5/8 time.3rd movement:The omnipresence of death and dying - from the plague and war to the never-ending dangers of daily life - was an essential part of the world view of that time. Fears ensued that might heighten into the grotesque, e.g. in the pictures of Hieronymus Bosch. The Danse macabre was a popular motif in those years. Luther's chorale Mitten wir im Leben sind / mit dem Tod umfangen from 1524 (Enchiridion from Erfurt) is based on the Gregorian chant Media vita in morte sumus created in France around 750 and, with its idea of transience, inspired a simplistic air.4th movement:The famous confession delivered at the Diet of Worms in 1521, I stand here and can say no more. God help me. Amen, are not Luther's words but the version later used as text for a pamphlet. However, it represents quite plainly the straightforwardness and inevitability of his mission. Musically, it was made into a perpetuum mobile, i.e. a dogged, ostinato and never-ending musical air.5th movement:The Mighty Fortress, on the other hand, is one of the great symbols of Martin Luther which, with its shining C major key, embodies the Protestant ideology and willful nature of the Reformation unlike any other song. Heinrich Heine called it the Marseille anthem of the Reformation, Friedrich Engels the Marseillaise of the Peasants' Wars. This disputability is not thought through to the end but rather interrupted: With a jubilant birdcall version of the melody, the finale shows a rather chamber-music-like side of the ideals of freedom of Christians.'. $28.99 - See more - Buy online

Choral (SSAATTBB A Cappella) SKU: HL.49045940 SSAATTBB a cappella. Composed by Alwin Michael Schronen. Choral. Classical, General Worship, Sacred. Octavo. 8 pages. Schott Music #C59054. Published by Schott Music (HL.49045940). Artfully combining the old with the new - that is one of the hallmarks of Alwin M. Schronen. That this versatile balancing actor andbearer of numerous compositional prizes succeeds in mastering this artistic balancing act, he proves once again in his sacred choralcomposition Hodie Christus natus est. This Latin-speaking work for 8-part mixed choir a cappella (SSAATTBB) is based on the antiphonto the Magnificat of the Christmas Vespers. Schronen opens his Christmas song with the literal intonation of the traditional Gregorian melody. After this beginning, alternating between male and female voices, the composer lets the entire choir join in the jubilation of thanks for the birth of Jesus. He manages to lift the listener with his very own musical language in other heavenly realms. A wonderful, but at the same time vocally demanding piece of music, which is equally suitable for the use of church music asit is for concert use. $4.95 - See more - Buy online

| Pater noster Choral TTBB [Score] Carus Verlag
SSAATTBB Choir SKU: CA.967400 Composed by Jacek Sykulski. Edited by Stefa...(+)
SSAATTBB Choir SKU: CA.967400 Composed by Jacek Sykulski. Edited by Stefan Schuck. CARUS CONTEMPORARY. Sacred vocal music. Full score. 16 pages. Duration 8 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 09.674/00. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.967400). ISBN 9790007187484. Language: Latin. With the publication of his hypnotic Pater noster, Carus proudly presents Jacek Sykulski as a new composer in the Carus Contemporary series. Whilst Sykulski has achieved worldwide success as Director of the Academic Choir at the University of Poznan and the Poznan Boys' Choir, as a composer he has remained a well-guarded secret until now. In his sacred compositions he combines in music the deeply Catholic-imbued tradition of his country with his own compositional technique, characterized by a tremendous vocal sensuousness of sound and a conscious use of tonality enriched by dissonance. His Pater noster was composed in 2009 and revised in 2015 for a performance by the RIAS Kammerchor in Berlin. The first section of this three-part work for eight-part choir (tenors and sopranos also split into three) begins with the invocation Pater noster homophonically in A minor. This then introduces the Gregorian liturgical melody of the Our Father canonically and aleatorically, like a contemplative congregational hymn. The middle section calls out Dein Reich komme in increasingly insistent rhythmic declamation, more demanding, with hypnotic repetitions and intensifications. In the last section, Sykulski returns to the opening harmonies, but now a semitone lower on A flat, followed by an intensification at the words sed libera nos a malo - and delivery us from evil once more; this ends unresolved in a diatonic cluster on A flat as the paradigm of our imperfect earthly existence. The eight-minute unaccompanied composition is extremely singable, impressive, and not difficult to master. The piece is suitable for use in the liturgy, as well as in concerts and competitions. $12.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Piano/harpsichord and orchestra (picc.2.2.cor ang.2.2 - 4.2.3.1 - timp - perc(4) - hp - str) SKU: BR.PB-15160 Urtext. Composed by Sergej Rachmaninow. Edited by Norbert Gertsch. Orchestra; Softbound. Partitur-Bibliothek (Score Library). Variations; Solo concerto; Late-romantic; Early modern. Sheet Music. Duration 22'. Breitkopf and Haertel #PB 15160. Published by Breitkopf and Haertel (BR.PB-15160). ISBN 9790004215654. 10 x 12.5 inches. Paganini's Capricci served as inspiration for many composers. In addition to Brahms, Schumann and Liszt, Rachmaninoff was also inspired by the idea. His Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini has since become one of his best known and most popular works and was an immediate success. In 1934, between two intense concert seasons, Rachmaninoff took advantage of the peace and quiet at his villa on Lake Lucerne to compose the Variations. Paganini's virtuosity and joy of playing are juxtaposed with the Gregorian sequence Dies irae. A symbol of the evil spirit to which Paganini sold his soul? At least that is how Rachmaninoff wrote it in a letter to the choreographer Fokine. For the demanding piano part, the composer and celebrated pianist himself had to start practicing very early: The composition is very difficult, and I should really start practicing now, but I get lazier with my finger exercises year after year. The editor, Norbert Gertsch, presents with this edition for the first time an Urtext edition of the work that Joachim Kaiser described as Rachmaninoff's most spiritual, witty, elegant work for piano.. $160.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 3 to 4 weeks
