Duo-Sonata for violin and piano was written between September and October of 2010. It is made up of three movements, each of which has unique characteristics. The first, Allegro appassionato, is monothematic, although the theme itself is presented in several ways. Following a vigorous start featuring violin cadenza, the movement is developed with a lively feel, alternating lyrical fragments with other energetic ones. Its conclusion is resounding.Meanwhile, the second movement, Quasi un lamento, is introspective and fragile. A long melody is sustained by a delicate and transparent piano accompaniment, evoking once again the theme of the first movement and concluding with a Lento of descending piano harmonies while the violin follows, in octaves, with heartfelt glissando. The third movement, Scherzando-Allegro, is a light-hearted game between the piano and the violin. The main theme is repeated once again, this time with a binary time signature. The violin uses ricochet (the rebounding of notes in a bow stroke), as well as natural and artificial harmonies in quick time. The piano part unfolds completely naturally, excluding any gratuitous artifice.

Sonata for bassoon and piano is one of Swiders first works for a wind instrument. It was written most probably in the years 1953-1954, under a clear influence of neo-classicist stylistics. The only documented performance took place on 5th May 1955 in Katowice, or Stalinogrod, as such was the name of that city in those days. The first part of Sonata is written in a form of scherzando of a light and witty character, where the composer fully uses the facture and bassoons sound potential. The second part, full of meditation and cantilena, bears a particular expression of lower registers of the instrument. Part three is a traditional minuet in moderato tempo, with stylised folk elements in the middle fragment. The last part resumes the scherzo form, capped by a cadenza written by Marek Baranski, in which attempting to imitate the language of Jozef Swider's compositions that include numerous elements of a synthetic finale he included most music concepts outlined in the entire Sonata.

Niccolò Paganini's (1782-1840) wrote two installments (Op. 2 and Op. 3) of six sonatas each for violin and guitar between 1805 and 1809 while he lived in Florence with a guitar-playing noblewoman. Paganini kept both his love for the guitar and the noblewoman secret, and these twelve sonatas were written for more intimate settings rather than the larger public performances we often associate with Paganini's virtuosity. Reprint of guitarist Erwin Schwarz-Reiflingen's (1891-1964) edition. Both Op. 2 and Op. 3 are available from the publisher.

Solstice Sonata (2013) for trumpet and organ was commissioned by the American Guild of Organists for its 2014 Biennial National Convention in Boston, Massachusetts. It was premiered on June 24, 2014 at the Memorial Church, Harvard University, by trumpeter Chris Gekker and organist Christian Lane. At the solstice (summer in the Northern Hemisphere and winter in the Southern), the sun is directly aligned with the tropical latitude lines, and the longest day of the year occurs (marking the start of summer). This sonata is music of celebration and contemplation, taking the inspiration of the longest day as a starting place for both meditation both thoughtful and joyous. Take Flight soars and leaps with vigor-perhaps the image of a hang-glider's journey over a dramatic landscape under the late evening sun. The Dream of Peace is lyrical and passionate; it is perhaps night music of reflection and intensity. Glittering, Aglow begins with quiet, mystical music: a gradual awakening. A vibrant, syncopated dance breaks out, is interrupted by the quiet music again, and returns to push forward to a vibrant conclusion. The new season has begun.Instrumentation: Trumpet and Organ. The editors of the New Karl Scheit Guitar Edition, guitarists all, have unearthed a rare gem in Marella's Sonata. Having made his mark as an accomplished violinist in the 18th century scene of Paris and Dublin, Marella relocated to London to continue his career, becoming also a teacher of guitar and composer of study volumes for that instrument. The Sonata in La Maggiore is taken from a second volume of pieces dating from 1762, and consists of three movements - Andantino, Largo, and Menuetto a theme and five variations). For intermediate to advanced performers.

It is considered a milestone in the repertoire for bass clarinet: Othmar Schoeck's Sonata op. 41, composed in 1927/28 for the Swiss music patron and amateur clarinetist Werner Reinhart. In the tension area between late Romanticism and currents of New Music of the 1920s, Schoeck created a work of fascinating colorfulness, which even has jazz elements flashing up in the finale. This classic work is one of the most exciting, boldest instrumental works by the important song and opera composer. CD: Renate Rusche (bass clarinet), Werner Hagen (piano) Sc 63072.

A Short Sonata is a work written at around Grade 8 standard for euphonium and piano. In each of the work's three movements, different qualities of the instrument are utilised and explored. In the first movement, an Allegro in 6/8 time, these qualities are the instrument's general agility, and its ability to play fast-moving melodies in a way that drives the music forward. Throughout, different ways of phrasing similar material are used to create interest and a varied sound. In the second, slow movement, the resonant and majestic way in which the euphonium can deliver lyrical melodic lines is explored. The movement is made up of four long phrases which peak dynamically at the third, giving room for interpretation and feeling. The third movement exploits the instrument's ability to play loudly and aggressively, using lots of accented notes, hairpin crescendos and quick double-tonguing. A Short Sonata was the winner of the first Stainer & Bell Award for Brass Composition, held at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff in May 2010.
