Written to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the surprise attack on the American Pacific Fleet, Remembering Pearl Harbor is a stirring tribute honoring the heroes of the date which will live in infamy- December 7, 1941. Like flying over the Pacific, the opening bars seemingly soar back in time. The composition takes the listener on a moving journey from the precarious moments before the fateful attack, through the air strike and resulting aftermath. The musical voyage begins with chimes, signifying the hour of the attack that Sunday morning, developing into the heroic main theme representing the Spirit of America. A rousing version of Anchors Aweigh takes us to the naval base at Pearl Harbor and the activities of the day. By the end of Anchors Aweigh, the mood seems to change, foreshadowing the fate of the U.S. fleet. Next, the haunting theme of the Japanese National Anthem is heard and the distant sound of propellers as they approach. When the planes arrive, the battle rages until there is total destruction. Countless people lost their lives on this tragic day. The playing of Taps and the Navy Hymn, Eternal Father, Strong to Save is presented as an homage to those who perished. Following this solemn moment, the American spirit begins to rise as they come together to defeat the enemy. As the U.S. triumphs in the end, we hear fragments of many American tunes depicting the strength and resilience of the American People. You may want to consider using portions of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's famous speech to enhance your performance. The following sections are suggested: Measure 46: Yesterday, December 7th, 1941 - a date which will live in infamy - the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by the naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan. Measure 83: The attack yesterday on the Hawaiian Islands has caused severe damage to American naval and military forces. I regret to tell you that very many American lives have been lost. Measure 105: No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory.. | Eternal Father, Strong to Save Concert band - Advanced Claude T. Smith Publications
Grade 5 SKU: CL.CTS-7709-00 For Concert Band. Composed by Claude T...(+)
Grade 5 SKU: CL.CTS-7709-00 For Concert Band. Composed by Claude T. Smith. Concert Band. Score and set of parts. Composed 1975. Claude T. Smith Publications #CTS-7709-00. Published by Claude T. Smith Publications (CL.CTS-7709-00). Legendary composer W. Francis McBeth once said, If Claude Smith only wrote the fanfare to Eternal Father, he would still be a legend. Smith takes the Navy’s hymn as the basis for his fanfare. This famous hymn tune, normally in the major key, has now been placed in the minor key then transitions to Allegro Vivace. The hymn tune is put through its paces including several variations and two fugatos (one for the woodwinds and one for brass). A short transition,(including the famous 7/8 measure!) to the now well-known setting for French horn quartet, gives us an emotional rendition of the original hymn tune now in the major key. The full band plays the hymn, and a timpani roll takes us back to the original fanfare now in C major. A classic of literature and a composition which will provide a meaningful experience for musician and audience member alike. $95.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks

SKU: GI.G-CD-513 Composed by Iona Community and John L. Bell. Sacred. CD. GIA Publications #513. Published by GIA Publications (GI.G-CD-513). We do not believe that it is any longer possible to claim membership of the holy catholic Church and refuse to sing songs from repertoires other than those of the mission-sending churches in the North. And, if at the same time, the Church does not rehearse and sing new songs, it will breed disciples who are unfit for heaven, where the new song is an eternal feature. —Wild Goose Worship GroupOne Is the Body, like many collections by the Wild Goose Worship Group of the Iona Community, is deliberately eclectic and brings to us music from around the world. Blessed Be God is a lively song of praise from Pakistan, while Je Lourai l'Eternel (I'll Praise God Eternal) is a beautifully simple piece from France. Mexico, El Salvador, Wales, Hawaii, Germany, Brazil, South Africa, Nepal, and the Netherlands are also represented here in texts and tunes. Sizohamba (We Will Walk with God) is a particularly fun and infectious piece from South Africa. With its delightful four-part harmony, it makes a wonderful recessional song in Xhosa or in English. Several new pieces by John Bell are included in this collection, including Keep Me Lord and the title song. John also contributes a wonderful new inclusive text, Women and Men as God Intended, to the popular tune KOMT NU MET ZANG, usually sung with the text What Is This Place.. $16.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks
