TB vocal soli, SATB choir, 2 flutes, cello, basso continuo SKU: CA.1001819 Christmas cantata. Composed by Johann Wendelin Glaser. Edited by Eberhard Hofmann. This edition: urtext. Stuttgart Urtext Edition. Complete orchestral parts. Sacred vocal music, Cantatas, Christmas. Set of Orchestra Parts. Duration 6 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 10.018/19. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.1001819). ISBN 9790007164768. Text language: German. Johann Wendelin Glaser was born in 1731 in Ostheim vor der Rhon, Bavaria. In 1751 he became music director in Wertheim, a position he held until his death in 1783. The 300 cantatas by this exceptionally productive composer were long unknown, and were only rediscovered by chance in 1910. The Christmas cantata Daran ist erschienen die Liebe Gottes comprises five movements, beginning with an opening chorus, followed by alternate arias and recitatives. A simple four-part chorale concludes the work. The cantata is easy-to-perform for choral singers and also because of its small instrumental scoring for just two flutes (or other melody instruments) and basso continuo. Chamber Music Cello, Viola, Violin 1, Violin 2 SKU: PR.114419030 Score and Parts. Composed by Mohammed Fairouz. Sws. Score and parts. With Standard notation. 68 pages. Duration 25 minutes. Theodore Presser Company #114-41903. Published by Theodore Presser Company (PR.114419030). ISBN 9781491114124. UPC: 680160669851. 9 x 12 inches. A fascination with polycultural synergy between diverse literary textsdrives the inspiration for much of Mohammed Fairouz’s prodigiouscreative output, including instrumental music as well as vocal. Inhis profound and extensive essay preceding the score, Fairouz shedslight on how Edgar Allen Poe’s “Israfel” relates to the prophetsand prophesies of the Quran, Old Testament, and New Testament. The eight-movement quartet may be heard as a dramatic galleryof portraits and of story-telling, flourishing in a post-traditionallanguage that is at once vernacular and spiritual, Middle Easternand Western. The complete set of score and parts is included in thispublication. (See pages 2-3 of score for clear distinction of paragraphs, etc.)Prophesies, by Mohammed FairouzEdgar Allen Poe’s rendition of Israfel was the point of departure for the final movement of my previous stringquartet which is titled The Named Angels. At the opening of his poem, Poe evokes the Quran:“And the angel Israfel, whose heartstrings are a lute, and who has the sweetest voice of all God’s creatures.”This informs the first lines of the poem that, in turn, gave me the title for the final movement of The Named Angels,“Israfel’s Spell”:In Heaven a spirit doth dwell“Whose heartstrings are a lute”None sing so wildly wellAs the angel Israfel,And the giddy stars (so legends tell),Ceasing their hymns, attend the spellOf his voice, all mute.It is the end of that poem, however, that is the starting point for the current quartet, Prophesies, which concernsitself with mortal prophets rather than eternal Angelic spirits. If I could dwellWhere IsrafelHath dwelt, and he where I,He might not sing so wildly wellA mortal melody,While a bolder note than this might swellFrom my lyre within the sky.Islamic thought has asked us to look at the example of the prophets. That’s significant because of the fact thatJoseph and all the prophets were human beings with the flaws of human beings. No prophet was perfect, andIslamic tradition has never asked its followers to aspire to the example of the Angels, the perfected ones. Instead weare given the gift of our prophets. While The Named Angels drew on the motion and energy of everlasting spirits,Prophesies is a depiction of the movements within our own mortal coil. This quartet is a continuation of a long tradition of Muslim artists telling their stories and singing their songs. Many of these renditions are, in fact, figurative and (contrary to popular belief) the Quran contains no “Islamicedict” prohibiting figurative renditions of the figures described in the Old Testament, New Testament, or Quran. The majority of artists, however, have preferred eternal and abstract forms such as words and their calligraphicrepresentations, poems (Yusuf and Zuleikha or the Conference of Birds come immediately to mind), architecture, and many other non-figurative art forms to the representation of man. These cold, ancient, and everlasting shapesof unending time flourished, and the divine infinity of representing geometric forms gained favor over the placementof the explicit representation of mankind and our own likeness at the center of the universes.Adding the string quartet to these forms which express the recursive spheres of heavens and earth abstractly shouldexplain why I have chosen to render higher things through the use of music without the addition of words or anyother art-form. It is the abstract art of pure form, in which all is form and all is content, which compels me. Thisquartet should be seen as no more programmatic than the arches of the Great Mosque at Cordoba. The first movement, Yāqub (Jacob), is slow, quiet and prayerful. It evokes the patient sorrow of a slow choraledeveloping over time as it coaxes our pulse out of the ticking of a clock-like meter that defines our day-to-day livesand into a divine eternity. The second, Saleh, imagines the spirit of that desert-prophet through the use of a Liwa; the dance-sequence that hasbeen such a prevalent form of expression in the Arabian Peninsula for much of our recorded history. The third movement is titled Dawoōd, and it is emblematic of the beloved Prophet, King, and Psalmist, David.Though it has no lyrics, the movement functions as a dabkeh (an ancient dance native to the Levant) and also “sets”the opening of Psalm 100 (Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands). This line is never set to music or sung inthe quartet but is evoked through the rhythmic shape of the violin part which imitates the phonology and rhythmof my speaking the opening line in the Hebrew and develops the contours of that line incessantly throughout themovement.3The fourth movement is an ode to Yousef (Joseph) and relates to the first movement in tempo and tone just as Josephrelates to Jacob, his father. Together, the first and fourth movements provide a sort of Lamentation and relief.Joseph had the appearance of a noble angel, but he was very much a human being. And the story of this particularprophet had tragic beginnings many years before he found himself in a position of power in Egypt. Back in his youth, still among the Israelites, Joseph experienced a series of revelations through his dreams that spoke of his impendingcareer in prophecy. He confided his dreams to his father, the Prophet Jacob, who told his son of the greatness thatawaited him in his future only to have his brothers throw him into a well and leave him for dead. Joseph eventuallyfound his way from Israel to Egypt and rose out of slavery into a position of power. Meanwhile, famine engulfs Israel.Forty years pass, and back in the land of Jacob and Rachel, of Joseph’s brothers and Abraham’s tribe, Israel wasnot spared the effects of the famine. They sorely lacked Joseph’s prophecy and his vision. The Qur’an then tells usthat Jacob, sensing Joseph, sends the other brothers to Egypt instructing them to come back with food and grain.Arriving in Egypt, they unwittingly appear before Joseph. They don’t recognize their little brother who has risen toa position of might, dressed in his Egyptian regalia. They ask for the food and the grain. After some conversation, Joseph is no longer able to contain his emotion. Overcome, he reveals himself to his nowterrified brothers. He embraces them. He asks them eagerly, “How is our father?” Joseph gives them the gift of thefood and the grain that they came in search of. He relieves them from hunger and alleviates their fear. He sendsthem back with proof that he is alive, and it is this joyful proof from the miraculous hands of a prophet that bringsback the ancient Jacob’s vision after 40 years of blindness. In this story, I am struck by the fact that Joseph may not have made the decision to forgive his brothers on thespot, but that something inside the prophet’s soul found forgiveness and peace for the brothers who had so gravelywronged him at some point along his journey. I would suspect this point to have been present at Joseph’s inception, even before he had ever been wronged. This is proof, if we needed it, that Joseph’s angel-like beauty was not only physical and external, but also internalas well: Joseph possessed a profound loveliness of spirit that bound his appearance and his soul. In Joseph, formand soul are one.Time is to musicians what light is to a painter. In this way, the story of Joseph also shows us that time can affectour perception of even the most tragic wounds. In fact, the most common Arabic word for “human being” is insaan, which shares its roots with the word insaa, “to forget.” While our ability to remember is essential to how we learnabout ourselves, our capacity to “forgive and forget” may also be one of our great gifts as human beings. The fifth movement follows my ode to Joseph with a structural memory of Mūsa (Moses). The movement consistsentirely of descending motifs which I constructed as an indication of Moses’ descending movement as he emergedto his people from the heights of Mt. Sinai. The music is constructed in five phrases which function as a formalreference to the five books of Moses, the Pentateuch. The movement is placed as the fifth of the quartet for the samereason. While Joseph is always evoked as supremely beautiful in the Books of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, Suleiman(Solomon) is described as surpassing in his quicksilver intelligence. This movement is composed of a seven-partriddle which passes by in an instant but can be caught by the attentive listener. From Solomon, we work our wayback to Yishak (Isaac) in a seventh movement that evokes Isaac’s literal meaning in Arabic and Hebrew: laughter. The eighth and final movement of this quartet is named for the Patriarch of the entire Book: Ibrahim (Abraham). Itrelates to Isaac just as Joseph relates to Jacob; they are father and son. The lines are prayerful and contemplative;the form of the music evolves from a fugue joining together many different forms of prayer into a single tapestry ofcounterpoint, to the cyclical form of this entire quartet which is rendered through the motion of pilgrims circling theKaaba (cube) in Mecca — a structure which was built by Abraham for Hagaar and their son Ismail. These are just some of the figures that are cherished by all three of the Middle Eastern monotheisms (Judaism,Christianity, and Islam) that the Qur’an refers to collectively as Ahl Al-Kitab. This Arabic phrase is most commonlytranslated as “The People of the Book,” but here the most common translation is a flawed one: the Arabic word“ahl” means “family” and not just “people.” A better translation would be “Family of the Book.” Each of the eightmovements of Prophesies grows from a single musical cell. This quartet is a family album.—Mohammed Fairouz (2018. $45.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks

Harpsichord; Organ; Early Music SKU: UT.HS-282 Composed by Alessandro Scarlatti. Edited by Francesco Tasini. Saddle stitching. Classical. Ut Orpheus #HS 282. Published by Ut Orpheus (UT.HS-282). ISBN 9790215326446. 9 x 12 inches. The two-part composition has always been an essential stage in didactic treatises for teaching counterpoint; the Duo has been of fundamental importance, since the early decades of the sixteenth century, in the teaching of singing and in instrumental practice. The interpretation and performance of Scarlatti’s Fughe a Due require on the one hand a correct and prompt interpretation of the chords which are the basis of the movement and the relationship between the two parts, and on the other an indispensable invention of a third or even a fourth part (to ensure, above all, full and significant harmony). An indication of this practice of filling in is offered by the same ms. source containing Scarlatti’s Fughe a Due. In Fugue II in D minor, in the first eleven bars, we find indicated above the Bass a series of numbers showing the interval in relation to the respective upper line. These indications should not be confused with the numerical marking typical of the basso continuo and of the partimento, for they establish a clear sign of the usual practice exercised in the teaching of counterpoint in order to guide the student visually to pass safely and speedily from two to three or more parts; this type of numbering is often found in the counterpoint methods of the time, in particular in the section illustrating the Contrapunto semplice e Diminuito. These fifteen Fughe a Due, unlike the many Duos and Duets which figure in the counterpoint methods, are not a simple display of formulas, but they assert themselves as a calculated sample of characterized styles and genres, a series of pieces conceived with an exquisite sense of form. $30.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 3 to 4 weeks

Dixit Dominus (Ps 109), a psalm setting for double choir, is one of Vivaldi's most significant sacred works. In it, he takes up the old Venetian polychoral tradition, combining its compositional techniques with those of the instrumental concerto, the cantata and the opera. The broadly conceived cycle of movements, consisting of eight psalm verses and the doxology, is characterized by an expansive arch of tonalities connecting the two framing outer movements in D major (these are also thematically related): Dixit Dominus and Gloria Patri. The contrasting and varied inner movements are perfect examples of Vivaldi's skill in vividly portraying linguistic figures in music. SKU: GI.G-1064 Composed by Tony Alonso S.J. Sacred. GIA Publications #1064. Published by GIA Publications (GI.G-1064). UPC: 785147006428. From the music of the Buena Vista Social Club to Gloria Estefan, the lyrical melodies and infectious rhythms of Cuban music have become embedded in U.S. culture. With Caminemos con Jesús / Let Us Walk with Jesus, composer Tony Alonso presents a groundbreaking collection of liturgical music that calls on his own Cuban musical heritage to provide new ways of singing the liturgy in Spanish, English or bilingually. The first project of its kind, Caminemos con Jesús not only utilizes rich Cuban idioms but also explores what style and musical form can teach us about praying together across cultural and linguistic boundaries. The dynamic call-and-response form that is a hallmark of traditional Cuban music makes these songs especially compelling choices for bilingual worship, allowing assemblies to learn, internalize, and pray easily in both Spanish and English. “Qué AlegrÃa Cuando Me Dijeron / I Rejoiced When I Heard Them Say†uses the words of the psalm as a rhythmic mantra, creating a fresh and engaging way to gather as the Body of Christ. “LetanÃa a la Madre de las Américas / Litany of Mary of The Americas,†invokes the Mary of many names and nations with a simple yet strong response that will enliven Marian feasts throughout the year. The gentle simplicity of “Tres Guajiros / Three Peasants†re-imagines the story of the Magi as humble peasants bringing gifts of the land to honor the newborn Jesus. Also, in this collection and for the first time in published form, is Gloria Estefan’s “Caridad,†a powerful and poetic prayer to Our Lady of Charity, the patroness of Cuba. All of the pieces of this collection focus on the importance of bringing the voices of the assembly to the forefront while the arrangements are skillfully crafted to be accessible to musicians of all abilities. In addition to the spiral-bound edition, individual octavos, and flute and brass parts, Caminemos con Jesús offers a special edition featuring parts for guitar, percussion and other instruments central to Cuban music. The studio recording is a stunning source of prayer and inspiration, produced in Miami by Grammy Award winner Juan Delgado and featuring some of the finest Cuban-American musicians today. GIA Publications, Inc. is committed to responding to the rich diversity of the contemporary Church. With Caminemos con Jesús, we offer you our very best bilingual music for the liturgical year. “The music of my father’s Cuban homeland has been the language of my heart for as long as I can remember. These songs infuse that rich tradition with the unique sabor of my own experience as a Cuban-American in a distinctly liturgical shape that I hope will inspire others in their daily camino con Jesús.†–Tony Alonso Featuring “Live Mercy, Be Holy / Vive la Misericordia, Vive la Santidad,†the 2020 Los Angeles Religious Education Congress theme song! Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 4 SKU: BT.GOB-001149-010 Composed by Harrie Janssen. Concert March. Set (Score & Parts). Composed 2012. 86 pages. Gobelin Music Publications #GOB 001149-010. Published by Gobelin Music Publications (BT.GOB-001149-010). 9x12 inches. English-Dutch. The title Whistle for a Penny can have different meanings, but brings especially to mind the difficult relationship between art and money… After a short introduction, the main theme is heard. This theme is an excellent tune to whistle, by the way. After lots of variation in the instrumentation, as well as contrasting melodies and themes, the finale sees a return to the opening bars of the composition.
$135.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks
| Doble Concert de la Porta Ferrada Editorial de Musica Boileau
Violin, cello and set of chamber instruments SKU: BO.B.3338 Composed by X...(+)
Violin, cello and set of chamber instruments SKU: BO.B.3338 Composed by Xavier Benguerel. Instrumental Sets. Duration 15:00. Published by Editorial de Musica Boileau (BO.B.3338). English comments: I finished writing the Porta Ferrada Double Concerto at the beginning of 2004. I was commissioned to write it for the Porta Ferrada International Music Festival (in Sant Feliu de Guixols). This double concerto for violin, cello and chamber ensemble represents the start of a period in which the pieces that I am working on are all for small ensembles: Davallament, for soprano and piano; Quinteto de la sala de Levante, for clarinet and string quartet; Palau d'hivern, for soprano, clarinet and string quartet; and Concertino Geminis for solo violin and 15 string instruments.Having written large-scale works, I have now gone back to writing chamber music. We can see how, throughout my career, the sinfonia concertante form is omnipresent in almost all my earlier periods. I still haven't found a satisfactory answer to why I choose a dialogue between a soloist and an instrumental group so often. I would perhaps say that with a solo instrument it seems as if my music has to flow more effortlessly, allowing me to work more easily. Having a main character in the piece's discourse greatly helps me to develop the idea I have about the piece I want to write. In this case there are two string soloists, the violin and the cello, which of course play a major part, but without this becoming a virtuosic. As for its form, the piece is based on three parts that meet without interruption. It was first performed on 10 August 2005 at the Teatre Auditori Municipal in Sant Feliu de Guixols as part of the 43rd edition of the Porta Ferrada International Festival, by the Porta Ferrada Simfonietta orchestra and the soloists Melodie Giot and Manon Philippe, conducted by Daniel Tosi. $42.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 4 to 6 weeks

ISBN 9790007294533. Key: E flat major. Latin. Schubertâ??s Mass in E-flat major is the last of his six settings of the Ordinarium Missae (Mass ordinary) and also his most important work in this genre. The mass is full of color and drama, infused with the spirit of confession. For many choirs, it is on the wish list of those works they would like to sing someday. But what happens if you donâ??t have enough singers, money is tight, and your venue is on the small side? Here the experienced arranger and orchestral musician Joachim Linckelmann has a great solution. His version for soloists, choir and chamber orchestra requires only 7 winds rather than the original 13. The string parts, while identical to the original, can now also be scaled back. The vocal parts (soloists and chorus) are completely untouched by the arrangement, so that the vocal scores and choral scores of the Carus Urtext edition can also be used for performanceâ?¢,A large-scale work now arranged for smaller choirs â?¢,13 winds of the original version reduced to 7 instrumentsâ?¢,Vocal scores and choral scores of the original version can still be usedâ?¢,carus plus: The work (original version) is available in the app carus music, the Choir Coach, as well as in our Carus Choir Coach series (audio only).. Concert Band/Harmonie/Fanfare Band - Grade 2 SKU: BT.DHP-1115114-015 Arranged by Roland Kernen. Flexible 5 Series. Concert Piece. Set (Score and Parts). Composed 2011. De Haske Publications #DHP 1115114-015. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1115114-015). 9x12 inches. English-German-French-Dutch. Stand By Me, perhaps Ben E. Kingâ??s greatest hit ever, was first released in 1961 as the b-side of a single, but as it soon went to number one on the RandB charts and to number one of the pop charts, the single was released again with Stand By Me as the a-side. In 1986 it was rereleased again, on the release of the movie by the same name, and it is also well-known through countless cover versions by famous singers. Now, Stand By Me is available for a flexible five part instrumentation.
Stand By Me, Ben E. Kings vielleicht gröÃ?ter Hit, erschien erstmals im Jahr 1961 auf Schallplatte.
$91.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Parts Woodwind Octet (Woodwind Parts) SKU: HL.49045833 Siz Mozart Opera Arias arranged by Steve Martland for wind octet. Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Steve Martland. Woodwind Ensemble. Classical. Softcover. 116 pages. Duration 900 seconds. Schott Music #ED12939-10. Published by Schott Music (HL.49045833). 9.0x12.0 inches. With Wolf-Gang, the British composer Steve Martland, ironizingly, follows the 18-century tradition of wind music ensembles with which underpaid musicians made some money on the side. Martland arranged six arias from Don Giovanni, The Magic Flute and Le Nozze di Figaro for wind octet, adapting them to today's possible playing techniques. By adding cor anglais and soprano saxophone, it was possible to have each aria played by a different combination of instruments so that each aria stands out against the others with regard to the sound. While rearranging the instrumentation, Martland left the musical material of Mozart untouched. Contents: I La ci darem la mano (Don Giovanni) II Madamina, il catalogo e questo (Don Giovanni) III Der Vogelfanger bin ich ja (The Magic Flute) IV Marsch der Priester (The Magic Flute) V Se a caso Madama (The Marriage of Figaro) VI Non piu andrai (The Marriage of Figaro). $50.00 - See more - Buy online

Concert Band/Harmonie/Fanfare Band - Grade 2 SKU: BT.DHP-1115068-015 Arranged by Lorenzo Bocci. Flexible 4 Series. Christmas. Set (Score and Parts). Composed 2011. De Haske Publications #DHP 1115068-015. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1115068-015). 9x12 inches. English-German-French-Dutch. The First Nowell is a traditional Christmas song that can be traced back to the 18th century. The word â??nowellâ? is in fact derived the French word for Christmas, â??noelâ?. The First Nowell is sung in Englishspeaking countries around the world, although the actual text may vary by region and local customs. The simple and beautiful melody has made this carol a Christmas favourite. Lorenzo Bocci turns the melody into an elegant flexible four-part arrangement.
The First Nowell ist ein traditionelles Weihnachtslied, das vermutlich aus dem Cornwall des 18. Jahrhunderts stammt.
$91.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks
