Berners The Triumph of Neptune Suite arranged for Piano. Described as 'A pantomime in twelve scenes', this was composed in 1926 for Diaghilev's Russian Ballet. With a book by Sacheverell Sitwell and choreography by George Balanchine, it was inspired by a series of Victorian drawings which Diaghilev had bought Pollock and Webb's theatrical bookshop in Hoxton. It depicts the fortunes of Tom Tug, a sailor who has left his wife after her infidelity and follows his adventures which end triumphantly with his transformation into a Fairy Prince and marriage to Neptune's daughter

Basso Continuo, Bassoon, Strings (Score) SKU: HL.50601156 For Bassoon,...(+)
Basso Continuo, Bassoon, Strings (Score) SKU: HL.50601156 For Bassoon, Strings, and Basso Continuo Score. Composed by Antonio Vivaldi. Edited by Federico Maria Sardelli. Woodwind Solo. Classical. Softcover. 52 pages. Ricordi #PR1434. Published by Ricordi (HL.50601156). UPC: 888680739447. 7.75x10.5 inches. Critical edition by Federico Maria Sardelli. The critical edition of these concertos that have come down in incomplete form adds the last piece to the immense mosaic of Vivaldi's music for bassoon; his 39 solo concertos plus a huge number of concertante parts scattered among works in different genresindeed constitute a unique contribution for his period.
The critical introduction takes the opportunity to sum up the state of knowledge about this subject, tracing the history of this instrument in Italy from the seventeenth century up to Vivaldi, and identifying possible performers and commissioners of his works written for it. A surprising picture emerges: at the very time when the bassoon had reached the nadir of its fortunes, Vivaldi entrusted to this instrument an extraordinary number of works making extreme technical demands, clear evidence that there was a virtuoso in Venice capable of playing them.
The two concertos RV 468 and RV 482, sadly lacking some of their movements, are nevertheless perfectly playable and enjoyable piecesthat testify to the generous assistance given by Vivaldi to the maturation of this instrument. $30.99 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 24 hours - In Stock

| Magnolia Suite Piano solo Theodore Presser Co.
Chamber Music Piano SKU: PR.140401330 Composed by R. Nathaniel Dett. Edit...(+)
Chamber Music Piano SKU: PR.140401330 Composed by R. Nathaniel Dett. Edited by Lara Downes. 32 pages. Duration 18 minutes. Theodore Presser Company #140-40133. Published by Theodore Presser Company (PR.140401330). ISBN 9781491134412. UPC: 680160684939. Nathaniel Dett was among America’s leading composers in the early 20th century, and MAGNOLIA SUITE is a beautiful example of his rich, hybrid style. Deeply inspired by the music and mission of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Dett’s piano music springs from the late Romantic traditions of florid texture and embellishment, along with programmatic titles and raw emotion. It is notable for melody writing inspired by and paraphrasing African-American song. The 18-minute MAGNOLIA SUITE contains five movements, any of which may also be performed separately. This edition by Lara Downes provides a clean, new engraving that corrects the many errors and unclear indications appearing in the historical printing. Robert Nathaniel Dett was born in a place that was built on freedom. The little village of Drummondville, Ontario was founded by enslaved Africans – Dett’s ancestors among them – who traveled the Underground Railroad out of the American South into Canada. Their journey brought them to a safe haven, a place where fortunes and futures could be transformed in the span of one generation, to lives full of new possibilities. You could call it “the place where the rainbow ends,†which is the title of the last movement of Dett’s Magnolia Suite. When Dett wrote these pieces, he was a young teacher at Lane College in Tennessee, a historically Black college that had been founded in 1882, the year of his birth. A place built on freedom, with the purpose of educating newly-emancipated slaves – a place designed to nurture the blossoming of ideas, the vibrant flowering of minds set free. This music is inspired by the gorgeous splendor of the magnolia blooms on that college campus, and also by the shared histories, experiences, and aspirations of the community that Dett found there. These five pieces pay affectionate tribute to lineage and legacy. They express gratitude for the bittersweet beauties of the present; nostalgia for the past (a bit romanticized, as the past always is); and an effervescent optimism for the future that awaits us in the place where the rainbow ends. $19.99 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks

When traveling through the desert southwest of the United States, you may be fortunate enough to come across a strange looking brown and white streaked bird called the Roadrunner. It has a blue patch of skin circling the eyes, a tiny dot of bright red behind the eyes, a bushy crest on the top of its head and a long tail that bobs up and down. A member of the cuckoo family, it is New Mexico's state bird, and can run in bursts of speed from between ten to twenty miles per hour. Because it is equipped to run rather than fly, its feet are different from other bird species, having two toes in front and two toes in the back. Its tracks looks like the letter X. Although roadrunners can become airborne, they are basically ground birds and do not fly. They eat insects, scorpions, small rodents, birds, lizards and snakes. They do make noise when in danger; however, the clicks and clatters do not resemble the sound of a honking horn that we think of from the Hollywood cartoon version of roadrunners. The repeated notes in the opening melody of Roadrunner Rally will remind you of the sight of a roadrunner traveling along at breakneck speed. A crisp spiccato accompanied by pizzicato in the cello and bass paints the picture of the bird running through the desert. At m. 17 you will hear that raucous honk, honk that is associated with the roadrunner saying Out of my way! The syncopation can easily be learned by feel as well as by counting carefully. At m. 25 and similar passages, the first violins will have fun learning the jazz licks. The walking bass like at m.69 with the jerky sound of the octaves in the upper strings will remind you of the awkward appearance of this ungainly bird. And of course, Roadrunner Rally ends with a loudly emphasized honking noise, the beep that we associate with the humorous picture of the roadrunner. Fanfare Band - Grade 2 SKU: BT.GOB-000332-020 Composed by Andreas Ludwig Schulte. Set (Score & Parts). 75 pages. Gobelin Music Publications #GOB 000332-020. Published by Gobelin Music Publications (BT.GOB-000332-020). The atmosphere of the Wild West is caught in a striking and most imaginative way by young composer Andreas Schulte in this work. A caravan of gold- and fortuneseekers launch themselves into a big adventure and begin their rush westward.
The first movement desciribes these first days of buoyancy and optimism in a crisp march. Near the campfire the pioneers rest themselves, and the music expresses feelings of romance, nostalgia for the past and hopes for the future. A wistful melody very characteristically communicates these feelings. Relaxation takes place in the third movement which is a musical characterization of a rodeo and its attendant festivities. It is obvious that sometimes something goes wrong and this aspect can also be heard. Nevertheless, the valiant rider wins in the end. With a flashback to the beginning, the journey is completed musically, thus giving the composition a dignified finale.
Let the mystic Wild West entrance you. (Wagons ho ....!!)

| A Western Suite Brass ensemble [Score] - Easy Gobelin Music Publications
Brass Band - Grade 2 SKU: BT.GOB-000451-130 Composed by Andreas Ludwig Sc...(+)
Brass Band - Grade 2 SKU: BT.GOB-000451-130 Composed by Andreas Ludwig Schulte. Arranged by David Well. Score Only. 20 pages. Gobelin Music Publications #GOB 000451-130. Published by Gobelin Music Publications (BT.GOB-000451-130).

ISBN 9788759874226. 9.5x14.25x0.058 inches. Danish. String Quartet No.1 - 'Quartetto Breve' (1952) by Per Norgard. Programme note: The spectrum of sound, the gesticulation - in short, the very nature of the strings - has always had a central place in my output, demonstrated by the numbers of string quartets, concertos with string soloist, chamber and solo works. The interest dates back to my school years, when I was fortunate to be able to compose for a cello-playing schoolmate and to accompany him on the piano. I discovered then the innumerable nuances of sound and playing varieties offered by just one bow, four strings and five fingers.. My first string quartet - Quartetto Breve - has a firm root in the Nordictradition and is strongly inspired by Jean Sibelius (1865-1957) and my teacher Vagn Holmboe (1909-96). | Dutch Harp Music Harp Ut Orpheus
Books and Journals; Harp SKU: UT.LB-4 Composed by Mirella Vita. Paperback...(+)
Books and Journals; Harp SKU: UT.LB-4 Composed by Mirella Vita. Paperback (Soft Cover). Classical. Books and Journals. Ut Orpheus #LB 4. Published by Ut Orpheus (UT.LB-4). ISBN 9788881094479. 6.5 x 9.5 inches. â??During my career spanning half a century, like all my fellow harpists I constantly had to grapple with the commonly held view that the harp has neither music nor history of its own. Fortunately, over the years I have been able to give the lie to this myth and have tried to bring to light some of the vast repertoire, both early and modern, expressly composed for this instrument which has been treated somewhat as an outsider in the musical world. The research work for my books on Italian and Swiss harp music was plain sailing because source materials were specific titles and title pages. Were I to write books on French, German, Austrian, British, Bohemian, Spanish, Portuguese or Scandinavian harp music, the work involved would be equally smooth and straightforward. However, where Dutch music is concerned, the approach is rather different, because here it is the painters, treatise-writers and historians who provide the evidence and guidance necessary to discover the musical customs and traditions where the harp played a significant part. Performers looking for pieces of music may use this book as follows: chapter II deals with treatises, chapter III with paintings, chapter IV with history and research accounts. Chapters V and VI are concerned with confusions in terminology. Chapter VII describes recent developments and chapters VIII and IX cover composers and pieces of music. Libraries and publishers are listed with their addresses in chapters X and XI, and finally chapter XII consists of the index based on the various groups of performers. In this last chapter harpists will find the composers most suited to their programme, and can then turn to chapters VIII and IX for details. The actual pieces can be obtained by consulting chapters X and XI. I wish you every success in your search, in your rehearsals and in your concerts ! In order to define what is Dutch or non-Dutch in early music, I have followed the current approach, i.e. all art and history prior to the separation of the â??Seven ProvinÂces in the 16th century is the common heritage of the Low Countries, whereas everything pertaining to those courageous lands from then onwards is specifically Dutch.. $27.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 3 to 4 weeks
