This flexible piece in 4 parts was written by Jacob de Haan as a ‘theme tune’ for the Yamaha teaching method seminars in Germany. The solemn and dignified hymn-like melody will add a touch ofgrandeur to any performance. Its simplicity and rich harmonies suggest overtones of Land of Hope and Glory and this would be a good item to bring a deep and uplifting sense of occasion to your concert.

Vanuit zijn didactische ervaring met het componeren van eenvoudige muziek voor variabele bezettingen gaf de Nederlandse componist Jacob de Haan in 2004 een workshop tijdens het Yamaha Bläserklassen Kongress in Oberursel (bij het DuitseFrankfurt). Op verzoek van Wolfgang Feuerborn, leider en initiator van het project, schreef Jacob de Haan speciaal voor deze seminars een hymne. Hij noemde het stuk - heel toepasselijk - The Seminar Hymn. Dit werk isleerzaam en motiverend voor jonge muzikanten - en een plezier om naar te luisteren.

Aufgrund seiner didaktischen Erfahrungen im Komponieren von leichter Musik für variable Besetzungen hielt der holländische Komponist Jacob de Haan im Rahmen des Yamaha BläserKlassen-Kongresses in Oberursel 2004 einen Lehrgang ab. Auf Wunsch von Wolfgang Feuerborn, dem Leiter und Initiator des Projekts, schrieb Jacob de Haan speziell für dieses Seminar eine Hymne. Er nannte das Stück - passenderweise - The Seminar Hymn. Dieses Werk vermittelt geschickt wertvolles Lehrmaterial für junge Musiker mit viel Motivation und Spielfreude, die sich auch aufs Publikum übertragen wird.

La Yamaha BläserKlasse est un projet développé par Yamaha en partenariat avec le système éducatif allemand. Ce concept permet d’enseigner la musique d’ensemble l’école primaire (et premier cycle secondaire). Bénéficiant d’une riche expérience dans la composition d’œuvres pédagogiques instrumentation variable, Jacob de Haan compose un hymne, spécialement pour les séminaires d’application durant lesquels les enseignants sont formés cette nouvelle manière d’apprendre la musique.

Ye Olde English Hunt comes to life through this colorful and humorous musical portrait. The opening pastoral scene is augmented with bird whistles, duck calls, and whatever wildlife your percussion section can conjure up. A series of trumpet calls, followed by a chorus of A Hunting We Will Go leads us into the frenzy of the hunt, complete with barking dogs and the galloping of horse hooves. Great fun for the band and especially your audience, this is a lighter, tongue in cheek selection for all.

Moonlight Serenade was composed in 1939, by Glenn Miller in his typically American big-band style. It was an immediate success and it even became the signature tune of Glenn Miller. The catchy melody has since been used in various films and television series. It has been performed in many styles, from romantic to swinging. The Flanders Recorder Quartet likes to play this work with a low recorder consort: tenor, F bass, C bass, great bass (each instrument then plays an octave lower). This gives the work a slightly “close harmony” feel. Of course the more usual line-up also does the music justice.

Moonlight Serenade is in 1939 gecomponeerd door Glenn Miller in zijn typisch Amerikaanse Bigbandstijl. De aanstekelijke melodie is in verschillende films en televisieseries gebruikt. In Frankrijk is de song populair gewordenonder de titel Dansez maintenant (1975) - in een uitvoering van Dave. Het Flanders Recorder Quartet speelt dii werk graag in laag blokfluitconsort: tenor, F-bas, C-bas, grootbas (elk instrument speelt dan een octaaf lager). Zo ontstaateen lichte close-harmonystijl. De muziek komt in de gebruikelijke bezetting natuurlijk ook uitstekend tot haar recht.

Moonlight Serenade wurde 1939 von Glenn Miller in dem ihm eigenen, typisch amerikanischen Big-Band-Stil komponiert. Es wurde schon in vielen Stilen - von romantisch bis Swing - interpretiert. Das Flanders Recorder Quartet aus Belgien, dessen Mitglied und Arrangeur Paul van Loey diese Bearbeitung schrieb, spielt das Stück gerne mit einem tiefen Blockflötenensemble: Tenor-, F-Bass-, C-Bass- und Großbassblockflöte (wobei jedes Instrument eine Oktave tiefer spielt). Dies verleiht dem Werk eine Art Close Harmony“-Gefühl. Aber auch die übliche Besetzung wird der Musik vollkommen gerecht.

Glenn Miller (1904-1944) fut l’un des plus grands chefs d’orchestre de swing américains de son temps. Le son mythique du prestigieux Glenn Miller Orchestra mêlant swing, jazz et improvisation est, aujourd’hui encore, célèbre dans le monde entier. Glenn Miller reste pour le public une véritable légende et ses airs les plus célèbres sont dans toutes les mémoires. En 1939, Glenn Miller composa Moonlight Serenade, une pièce dont l’idiome sonore est typique du style Big Band américain. Il présenta sa création pour la première fois sur la face B du disque Sunrise Serenade. Le succès fut immédiat. La mélodie fit l’objet de nombreuses reprises notamment au cinéma et latélévision.

Nel 1939, Glenn Miller compose Moonlight Serenade, un brano dal linguaggio sonoro tipico dello stile big band americano. Esistono oggi numerose varianti stilistiche di questo brano. Il quartetto di flauto dolce delle Fiandre privilegia suonarlo con strumenti che si sviluppano nei registri gravi: flauti dolci tenori, basso in Fa, basso in Do e un grande basso. Il brano rivela così una struttura in close harmony. E' anche possibile eseguire il brano con un ensemble strutturato in maniera più tradizionale.

Visions of Australia' is a musical panorama paying tribute to the epochs in Australia's history from its Aboriginal predecessors through to its 'yet to be determined' future. The journey begins with a tribute to Australia's aboriginal past, the arrival of the British Navy and the establishment of the first colony on the shores of Sydney Harbour. The journey then meanders through to the development of electricity and communication, through the wars and to the present. Following a brief reflection on the past, the music concludes with a stirring and patriotic march-like section representing a confident and bold future. Soaring is a mode of flight in which height is gained slowly by using air that is moving upwards. Written for music educator’s Randy Heuvelman’s 30 years of service to the Woodland (Illinois) School District, Soaring paints a music portrait of dedication, compassion and intensity, all aspects of this educator’s tenure. A slower middle section alternating between choirs of woodwinds and brass paints a serene portrait with lush harmonies and soaring countermelodies.
