Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 4 SKU: BT.DHP-0981118-010 Composed by Jan V...(+)
Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 4 SKU: BT.DHP-0981118-010 Composed by Jan Van der Roost. Inspiration Series. Set (Score & Parts). Composed 1998. De Haske Publications #DHP 0981118-010. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-0981118-010). This piece was commissioned by the ‘Concert Band Vlamertinge’ and is a plea for peace: the title translates as ‘Peace on Earth’. This is expressed by means of the vocal contribution expected from the performers. In various places of the piece you can recognize, the words ‘Et In Terra Pax’ - an appeal for peace - at first jumbled together but later more rhythmically structured, developing into synchronized massed voices. The work starts with a pentatonic theme based on the notes D, E, G, A and C (taken from ‘ConCErtbAnD VlAmErtinGE’ and the name of the conductor, NiCk VAnDEnDriessChe). A somewhat sad melody is developed during an orchestral climax which leads to the firstexplosion of sound (measure 62 onwards). Suddenly the opening measures are recaptured, albeit with a differently colored sound: the words ‘Et In Terra Pax’ bring the first movement to a close. A restless Allegro follows which abruptly stops and is replaced by a calming cho-rale-like passage. A narrator reads aloud the poem ‘Sonnet’ by the young poet Charles Hamilton Sorley, who was killed during World War I. This poem fittingly puts into words the cruelty and senselessness of war. After the expanded recapitulation of the allegro, the broad, almost infinite atmosphere of the beginning returns. Clarinet and English horn play the pentatonic opening theme once more, this time broadly, while the words ‘Et In Terra... Pax’ are repeated again and again by the rest of the orchestra. The composer has purposely avoided all forms of aggression and bombastic sounds regularly used in works about war. Fear of violence and destruction can be heard and felt during the allegro passages. The charged opening makes way in the end for hope: May peacefulness replace cruelty in everyday life, too.
$229.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

ISBN 9781491161531. UPC: 680160920181. This programmatic work depicts our superhero Daring Dog, as he goes on a journey to conquer the villain. Daring Dog is a superhero, only... not everyone knows it yet. We meet Daring Dog and his sidekick at m. 15 in the beginning section. At m. 24, we hear as his mother gives him a stern lecture to stop messing around and be more serious. Daring Dog tries to explain how he has saved the world numerous times at m. 32. At m. 42, he decides he must do what is necessary to defeat the villain, despite what his mother thinks, and begins planning. At m. 52, we can hear him running in the snare drum, and the villain approaches. Barking and growling (flutter tongue in flute, and growling in brass), at m.78 the fight is on. Measure 82 reveals a huge terrible monster, and Daring Dog is terrified. He sticks out his sword with his eyes closed, and *POOF!* the monster evaporates. (It was probably imaginary the whole time.) The end section is a triumphant celebration that Daring Dog has, indeed, saved the world again! Daring Dog is a fun piece for all ages! Difficult enough to be a wonderful recruitment piece, and easy enough to be playable by young bands, this piece can truly span all levels. Actors might also depict the story while the band plays for even more fun.  . This programmatic work depicts our superhero Daring Dog, as he goes on a journey to conquer the villain. Concert Band/Harmonie and Clarinet Solo - Grade 5 SKU: BT.DHP-1175741-140 ...(+)
Concert Band/Harmonie and Clarinet Solo - Grade 5 SKU: BT.DHP-1175741-140 Doloroso e Contemplativo. Composed by Jan Van der Roost. Solo Spectrum. Solo & Concerto. Score Only. Composed 2017. De Haske Publications #DHP 1175741-140. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1175741-140). English-German-French-Dutch. Contemplation is the first movement from the Clarinet Concerto by Jan Van der Roost, which was commissioned by Musica Reservata VOF, Belgium, and is dedicated to the famous clarinet soloist Eddy Vanoosthuyse. A slightly mysterious intro leads to an orchestral climax with ascending melodies and the entrance of the soloist. This occurs at first with fragmentary musical ideas, and then with longer melodic lines. The orchestra delivers the dialogue withthe soloist, and creates a fitting musical frame with a delicate and colourful instrumentation. Towards the end of the music, the atmosphere from the beginning is restored, and the soloist finishes on the same note that he started the piece on. The concerto is also available as a piano reduction.
$62.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

| Joye Wilhelm Hansen
Mixed Ensemble; Multi-Instrument (Score) SKU: HL.265677 For Sinfoniett...(+)
Mixed Ensemble; Multi-Instrument (Score) SKU: HL.265677 For Sinfonietta Score. Composed by Outi Tarkiainen. Music Sales America. Classical. Softcover. 10 pages. Duration 60 seconds. Edition Wilhelm Hansen #WH33055. Published by Edition Wilhelm Hansen (HL.265677). Joye is a miniature or an orchestral fanfare, essentially bright throughout and aphoristically pithy. The title alludes to the ancient French word meaning bliss and Fortune, and my intention was to load the piece with all the elation and recklessness that flash through a person in a moment of intense happiness. The sombre, sturdy chord pillars at the beginning surge into a landscape in which first the clarinets, then the oboes and finally the trumpets lead the music to mighty ferment and a clarity that suffuses all. The work was commissioned by the Pori Sinfonietta, Finland. Premiere by Pori Sinfonietta and Janne Nisonen (cond.) on December 6, 2017, Promenade Hall, Pori, Finland. $13.99 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 4 SKU: BT.DHP-1196192-140 Composed by Jan Van der Roost. Concert and Contest Collection CBHA. Opening Pieces. Score Only. Composed 2019. 26 pages. De Haske Publications #DHP 1196192-140. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1196192-140). Right from the outset until the very end, the speed, energy and “drive†of the tuneful music is palpable. It’s abundantly clear why the title “Seatbelts Fastened!†was chosen: just like an airplane, this music takes off and neither tempo nor intensity are lost throughout the flight. Descending and ascending scales characterise the most important thematic material and the music explores a variety of different registers through Van der Roost utilising a great deal of different tonalities and metres. Please keep your seatbelts fastened and enjoy the flight!
