Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 6 SKU: BT.DHP-1002209-010 Composed by Jan V...(+)
Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 6 SKU: BT.DHP-1002209-010 Composed by Jan Van der Roost. Sovereign Series. Concert Piece. Set (Score & Parts). Composed 2000. De Haske Publications #DHP 1002209-010. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1002209-010). Sinfonia Hungarica is a three-movement symphony that depicts the history of Hungary. All three movements were inspired by historical key figures, wars, and other important events from this country. This symphony is a celebration of Hungary’s millennium in 2001.The final movement is named after ISTVAN, the King who introduced Christianity into Hungary and who was crowned by Pope Silvestro II on January 1, 1001. A rather solemn start leads to another war-like passage, ending with some loud crashes. This symbolizes the fact that the body of the pagan Koppany was cut into four pieces, and sent to the four castles of the country as an example. After a quiet, almost religiousintermezzo, the National Hymn of Hungary is introduced. This broad “grandioso†ending also has a symbolic meaning: after ten centuries, Hungary has many reasons to look back on the past with pride, and to look forward to the future with optimism and confidence.
$314.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 4 to 6 weeks

This symphony is a celebration of Hungary’s millennium in 2001.ATTILA, King of the Huns, often named “The scourge of God,†is the central figure of the first movement, mainly characterized by fear, threat, aggression, and cruelty. Attila’s brother, Buda, however, has a more heroic theme, while his beloved wife, Rika, has a lyrical melody. The exciting ending of this opening movement illustrates the dreaded speed of Attila’s troops: they pursued their victims and killed them all!

Fanfare Band - Grade 6 SKU: BT.DHP-1115084-020 Composed by Jan Van der Roost. Concert and Contest Collection CBHA. Set (Score & Parts). De Haske Publications #DHP 1115084-020. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1115084-020). 9x12 inches. English-German-French-Dutch. It may be surprising to see a fanfare piece commissioned by a Japanese ensemble, since fanfare orchestras are typically found in Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg, and also France and Switzerland. Senzoku Gakuen is one of the largest and mostprestigious music universities in Japan, and home to a wide variety of ensembles and orchestras. Since 2006 they have had a fanfare orchestra, which was started by Sotaru Fukaishi, a euphonium teacher who felt further performance opportunity wasneeded for saxhorn instruments. Fukaishi had loved the sound of fanfare orchestras ever since visiting the World Music Contest in Kerkrade (Holland) several years earlier. Jan Van der Roost was involved with this new initiative from the beginning, and they were also joined by Manu Mellaerts for certain projects. The Dean of the music department, Professor Kazuo Tomioka, fully supports the ensemble and commissioned Ostinati. The première took place on June 11th at Maeda Hall inMizonokuchi (Kawasaki) where Senzoku Gakuen is based. The piece opens with an impressive timpani solo, followed by brass and saxophone. The rhythmical pulse remains constant and the music is fiery and assertive in character. A pentatonic melodygradually emerges and the music loses its vehemency and softens. The initial percussion ostinati subsequently recurs and the first section of the piece concludes in a similar mood to the opening. The second movement is sweet and melodic, opening witha long passage for the saxophone family in a minor key. The same theme then appears in the major and is developed upon; the music builds to a majestic orchestral forte, reminiscent of a pipe organ in its sonority. The theme returns in the originalminor key with a change in instrumentation leading the movement to a quiet and peaceful end on a soft E minor chord. The finale starts with percussion: a four-bar pattern is repeated several times over which the movement’s melodic themes areintroduced. These melodic elements are varied and used in different versions and the ostinato idea, which characterizes the entire piece, is highlighted. The theme travels through the orchestra, appearing on various instruments and in variousregisters. It captures the listener’s attention and displays the full range of sound and colour within the fanfare orchestra.
$478.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1115084-120).

Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1115249-010). 9x12 inches. English-German-French-Dutch. The Wooden Soldier is a short and simple piece commissioned by the Singapore Ministry of Education. It was originally intended as a compulsory piece for the 2012 Singapore Youth Festival. Because many school bands in Singapore are incomplete, the composer was specifically asked to create a work that could equally be played by a limited ensemble - which explains various doubled andoptional parts.
$110.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Brass Band - Grade 4 SKU: BT.AMP-335-030 Composed by Philip Sparke. Ceremonial Series. March. Set (Score & Parts). Composed 2012. Anglo Music Press #AMP 335-030. Published by Anglo Music Press (BT.AMP-335-030). 9x12 inches. English-German-French-Dutch. Marcho Brioso was commissioned by The Brioso Brass, a British-style brass band from Hokkaido, Japan. They gave the first performance in January 2012.The commission was for a bright and breezy march that the band could use as their theme tune, so Marcho Brioso falls into the composer’s series of Broadway-style marches, which includes Slipstream, The Bandwagon and Jubiloso. After a short introduction a solo cornet plays the main theme, accompanied by a euphonium counter-melody. A secondary phrase from the horns and baritones leads to a tutti version of the main theme which is followed by the traditional ‘bass’ strain. A change of key heralds thetrio section, which features a cantabile melody on euphonium; this is then taken up by the full band after a short bridge passage and further change of key. This takes us back to the home key which sees a quiet staccato version of the main theme lead to a recapitulation and a short coda which brings the march to a close.
$75.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

The Soldier’s Wife is a short and simple piece commissioned by the Singapore Ministry of Education. It was originally intended as a compulsory piece for the 2012 Singapore Youth Festival. Because many school bands in Singapore are incomplete, the composer was specifically asked to create a work that could equally be played by a limited ensemble—which explains various doubled and optional parts. The warm tones of a melodic passage open this short work: the wife of the wooden soldier sings a kind of lullaby. This lyrical section is followed by a more powerful part which is, however, based on the same melodic material. The rhythm, syncopated at times, infuses thissection with a particular energy. The harmony, too, has some surprising turns—and we must never lose sight of the restrictions imposed by the limited level of difficulty of the piece. Although the work begins softly and sweetly, much more ‘feminine energy’ is projected by the close.
$26.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Because many school bands in Singapore are incomplete, the composer was specifically asked to create a work that could equally be played by a limited ensemble—which explains various doubled andoptional parts. The wooden toy soldier that inspires the work initially marches in a fictitious parade before gliding into a swift waltz. Both sections are based on the same melodic material: the brisk triple-time passage is in fact a variation on the parade theme. Switching between majorand minor keys—together with a number of surprising twists—makes an enthralling work despite the restrictions imposed.

$26.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Guitar solo - Advanced SKU: DZ.DZ-4283 Composed by Alfredo Franco. Arranged by Cristiano Porqueddu. Score. Les Productions d'OZ #DZ 4283. Published by Les Productions d'OZ (DZ.DZ-4283). ISBN 9782898522000. The writing of this piece arose from seeing Goya's painting Un pavo muerto an unadorned oil painting where a turkey and a wicker basket rest on an indistinct black background. Fantasizing about making a harpsichord fantasy (I wrote a double stave version of the piece), how to evoke and decline the sensations felt at the glance, musically? Through, I thought, the use of a particularly dark and passionate mode, culturally and emotionally akin to the tones and features of the great Spanish painter's painting. Unlike my usual type of writing, often susceptible to unexpected disturbances, I forced myself to use almost exclusively the notes of the modal scale in different combinations, and in the middle section of the piece to employ them by transforming them into brighter modes (to let some light filter through). A composition that also features some rather explicit moments of instrumental virtuosity, ideally thought of as possible offshoots of a hellish fandango. - Alfredo Franco, January 2024
- Alfredo Franco, janvier 2024. $6.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

| Empuries (Partitura) Editorial de Musica Boileau
Orchestra and Cobla SKU: BO.B.3260 Composed by Josep Ma Ruera. Instrument...(+)
Orchestra and Cobla SKU: BO.B.3260 Composed by Josep Ma Ruera. Instrumental Sets. Duration 40:52. Published by Editorial de Musica Boileau (BO.B.3260). ISBN 9788480207584. English comments: Empuries is the result of the interest Ruera showed throughout his life for the culture and music of ancient Greece. As he himself writes in the introduction to the composition: The motives behind this work were inspired by contemplating and analysing the melos of ancient Greece. The few melodies that have been discovered from those far-off times inspired the composer of Empuries to create this work, conceived with the Greek modal system in mind, and adapted to modern instruments and tastes. The tetrachord and pentachords of these forms are the very bases of this work. The descending drift of the cadence, the harmonic priority of the upper and lower notes of the tetrachords and the displacement of these chords to different acoustic levels, make it impossible to specify the classic concept of a set tonality which, within the improvised musical working of the piece, leads to a naturally intertonal or atonal piece of music. Empuries came to light in 1971, when it won group A of the Ciutat de Barcelona prize. But one must, in fact, go back to the 1930s to find its true origins. Ruera made his first foray into the theme of ancient Greece with the sardana, Empuries, la grega, with which he won first prize in the Jocs Florals in Girona, in 1931. Shortly afterwards, he wrote a piece of organ music entitled Bucolics, in the Greek modal style, which was destroyed during the Spanish civil war. Ruera continued to work on the theme and in 1936 he presented his work Tres moviments simfonics, for a big band, inspired by the ancient Greek modes, at the XIV International Festival of the ISCM held in Barcelona. The work was chosen to debut in the festival's opening concert on 19 April 1936 at Palacio de Bellas Artes in Barcelona. In 1959, Ruera won the Pau Casals Prize at the Jocs Florals de la Llengua Catalana, held at the Sorbonne in Paris, for his work, Empuries: poema per a cobla i orquestra, which would later become the fourth movement of Empuries. Nine years later, in 1968, Barcelona City Orchestra, conducted by Antoni Ros Marba, gave the first ever performance of the symphonic poem Pastoral, written to be the first movement of Empuries, in Granollers. The final step was when he finally completed the work, won the Ciutat de Barcelona prize, opened in Granollers on 2 May 1976 and recorded it for the Columbia de Barcelona label in 1977. Anna Maria Piera
$42.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 4 to 6 weeks
