SATB choir, divisi, soprano voice solo, piano reduction - Advanced SKU: GI.G-9288 Composed by Thomas LaVoy. Evoking Sound. Music Education. Octavo. 40 pages. GIA Publications #9288. Published by GIA Publications (GI.G-9288). UPC: 785147928805. English. Text Source: From The Gardener, 1913. Text by Rabindranath Tagore. O Great Beyond was commissioned by JAM (the John Armitage Memorial) and first performed by the BBC Singers and Nicholas Cleobury on July 8th, 2016, as part of the JAM on the Marsh festival. The text is taken from The Gardener, a collection of verse by the Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore (1861–1941). Published one year after Tagore’s Nobel Prize-winning collection of spiritual poems, Gitanjali (1912), The Gardener contains poems that were written much earlier in his career. Tagore retrospectively described this collection as the “lyrics of love and life.†The musical narrative of O Great Beyond is meant to mirror the stages of love portrayed in The Gardener, culminating in the desire for a “Beautiful End†in the final movement. —Thomas LaVoy  . $2.60 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks

Guitar - Intermediate SKU: DY.DO-1522 Composed by Francis Bebey. Arranged...(+)
Guitar - Intermediate SKU: DY.DO-1522 Composed by Francis Bebey. Arranged by Ingrid Riollot. Score. Les Editions Doberman-Yppan #DO 1522. Published by Les Editions Doberman-Yppan (DY.DO-1522). ISBN 9782897963026.
Francis Bebey was born in Douala in July 1929, into a large family where his father, a pastor, struggled to feed his children. But Francis had the opportunity to go to school. Admiring his elder brother, Marcel Eyidi Bebey, he educated himself, distinguished himself, and eventually received a scholarship to go and take his baccalaureate in France. We approached the end of the 1950s when he arrived in La Rochelle. More than ever, in this France where Africans were looked at with curiosity, condescension, or disdain, Francis relied on his intellectual resources. A diligent worker, he obtained his Baccalaureate, then moved to Paris where he started English studies at the Sorbonne. One day, he knew what truly attracted him: he wanted to do radio. Francis learned his craft in France and in the USA. After working for a few years as a reporter, he was hired in 1961 as an international civil servant in the UNESCO Information Department. In parallel, Francis had always been drawn to musical creation. His very serious daytime activity didnâ??t prevent him from frequenting jazz clubs in the evenings. In Paris, the Jazz, the trendy music of that time, but also rumba and salsa attracted him. He collected records and attended numerous concerts. With his accomplice Manu Dibango, Francis took the stage and played music. Francis liked classical music since his childhood. He grew up listening to the cantatas and oratorios of Bach or Handel that his father had sung in the temple. He became passionate about the guitar, impressed by the Spanish and South American masters, and decided to learn to strum the instrument himself. He started composing guitar pieces, blending the various influences that flow through him with the traditional African music he had carried within since childhood. His approach captivated the director of the American Cultural Center (then located in the Saint-Germain neighborhood of Paris), who offered him the opportunity to perform in front of an audience. Francis gave his first guitar recital there (1963) in front of a mesmerized audience. His first solo album was released shortly thereafter. Gradually, Francis became recognized as a musician and composer. Several albums of the African guitar ambassador, as described by the press, were released. He also wrote books, to the point that his artistic career became challenging to reconcile with his career as a civil servant. In 1974, even though he had become the General Manager in charge of music at UNESCO, he took the bold leap and resigned from this prestigious institution to dedicated himself to the three activities that interested him: music, literature, and journalism. He explored the traditional musical heritage of the African continent, notably through the thumb piano sanza, and the polyphonic music of the Central African pygmies, or singing in his native language and composing humoristic songs in French! Success followed. Francis Bebey traveled the world: from France to Brazil, Cameroon to Sweden, Germany to the Carribean, or Morocco to Japan... the list of countries where he was invited to perform, gives lectures, or meets readers is very long. In addition to public recognition, he enjoyed the recognition of his fellow musicians, such as guitarist John Williams or Venezuelan Antonio Lauro, who invited him to be a part of the jury for a classical guitar competition in Caracas. His life was the journey of an African pioneer, a man rooted in his cultural heritage and carrying a message of sharing and hope for the world. His originality continues to vibrate around the world since his passing at the end of May 2001. $4.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Orchestra SKU: SU.91580100 For Orchestra. Composed by Steven Mercurio. Vocal/Choral, Opera. CD (Audio). Subito Music Corporation #91580100. Published by Subito Music Corporation (SU.91580100). A Grateful Tail - Movement by Movement Siriusly, Dog Star Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky, has been used by travelers and navigators for thousands of years as a guiding star and so it is here as the opening movement for the symphony. Sirius, the cornerstone to the constellation Canis Maggiore or Big Dog sits at the foot of Orion, the hunter, leading the way. Highly cinematic, the movement evokes both a musical and visual sense of the mythological and mysterious elements of Sirius and its Dog Godstar secrets. From the clarion call of the opening, Sirius theme, the sound is buoyant and frisky emulating the nature of doggy playtime. Puppy pleasures abound as a doggy four-step, my turn on the traditional American two-step dance, is introduced. The movement transforms into an actual orchestrated frolic of small, large and medium dog barks beginning with the winds (smaller dogs) and ultimately, the big dog, brass. The movement climaxes with the coda or, Dog Park, where the winds and the brass bark and play together over the, doggy ostinato four-step rhythm, culminating with the final call of the Sirius theme. Let Sleeping Dogs Lie, Peacefully It's all in a dog's day and life. Tranquility presides over this supremely gentle, intermezzo-like movement. After a day of play, every dog needs rest. Let Sleeping Dogs Lie, is a lyrical andante inspired by the profound serenity and beauty of a dog at rest. The Last Will and Testament of Silverdene Emblem O'Neill Based on a powerful piece of prose written by the American playwright, Eugene O'Neill this text was intended as a consolation piece for Carlotta, his wife, who had become grief-stricken over the loss of their beloved dog, the Dalmatian known as Blemie.Written for a singing actor who personifies the role of Blemie, a dog at the end of his life, the movement plays like a one act, musical drama as we follow Blemie through a wonderfully three-dimensional, emotional and psychological journey writing his Last Will and Testament, for those who have loved him. Wagging the Tail: Ossia Fido's Lament A life-affirming rumba/samba using Blemie's final words from O'Neill's text, this final movement employs the most unique American musical invention, the gospel choir. In order to make the dances come alive, this movement also calls upon the colors of a rhythm section. Creating the spirit of an Irish Funeral, the movement is a joyful and revival-like celebration of a dog's life as its spirit lives on forever in the hearts and minds of dog lovers everywhere. Remember Me, remember me! My spirit is wagging a grateful tail. ATB vocal soli, SATB choir, orchestra SKU: CA.3113600 Cantata for the 8th Sunday after Trinity. Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Edited by Christiane Hausmann. This edition: urtext. Stuttgart Urtext Edition: Bach vocal. Sacred vocal music, Cantatas, Trinity. Full score. Composed 1723. BWV 136. 36 pages. Duration 22 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 31.136/00. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3113600). ISBN 9790007171636. Language: German/English. Translation: Henry Drinker. Scripture: Matthew 7:15-23. The cantata Erforsche mich Gott und erfahre mein Herz BWV 136 was composed in Bach's first year as Kantor of St. Thomas's in Leipzig and was first performed on the 8th Sunday after Trinity, the 18th July 1723. The librettist is unknown. The title of the cantata is taken from verse 23 of Psalm 139: Erforsche mich Gott und erfahre mein Herz; prufe mich und erfahre, wie ich's meine. (Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts) The opening chorus forms an extended fugue, framed by string writing bursting with energy. The obbligato horn accentuates and enriches the movement with a special tonal color. The alto aria in F sharp minor (movement 3) comprises a trio movement with an oboe d'amore as solo instrument in a contrasting range - a presto middle section which dramatically charges the words Denn seines Eifers Grimm vernichtet (For the fury of its zeal will destroy). In the duet (movement 5) the text is sung by tenor and bass line by line, sometimes imitating contrapuntally, and sometimes both singing together dramatically in homophonic writing. A simple chorale setting to the melody Auf meinen lieben Gott concludes the cantata. Particularly charming here is the violin which joins the four vocal parts as an independent part. $33.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

German/English. Handel's Utrecht Jubilate HWV 279 enthralled London audiences right from its first performance, and it continues to do so today in concert halls and churches all over the world, thanks to the wide range of occasions when it can be performed. It was performed for the first time in a festive service on 7 July 1713 at St. Paul's Cathedral to celebrate the Peace marking the end of the twelve year-long War of the Spanish Succession. The Utrecht Te Deum and Jubilate were Handel's first sacred works in English and important milestones at the beginning of his London career. The edition is based on Handel's autograph (which unfortunately does not survive) and on a copy from Handel's circle, which in some respects provides more information than the autograph and contains important details for this edition. In 1717 Handel revised the Jubilate in a smaller scoring for the ensemble at Cannons (HWV 246) and preceded it with a two-part Sinfonia which is also reproduced in the Appendix to this edition. The chorus is mainly scored in four parts, and is in eight parts in just one short movement. In two other movements the soprano part divides. The second alto solo part can also be sung by a high tenor. Score available separately - see item CA.5527900. $24.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

ATB vocal soli, SATB choir SKU: CA.3113605 Cantata for the 8th Sunday after Trinity. Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Edited by Christiane Hausmann. This edition: urtext. Stuttgart Urtext Edition: Bach vocal. Sacred vocal music, Cantatas, Trinity. Choral Score. Composed 1723. BWV 136. 8 pages. Duration 22 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 31.136/05. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3113605). ISBN 9790007171612. Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 5 SKU: BT.AMP-426-140 Droga do Nieba. Composed by Philip Sparke. Elite Series. Opening Pieces. Score Only. Composed 2017. Anglo Music Press #AMP 426-140. Published by Anglo Music Press (BT.AMP-426-140). English-German-French-Dutch. The Way to Heaven was commissioned by the Royal Air Force Music Services. 2015 was the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, which took place between July and October 1940, when the courageous fighter pilots of the Royal Air Forcethwarted Hitler’s ambitions to launch an invasion on the UK. The Way to Heaven opens with fluttering woodwind figures and brass fanfares, which build to a climax before a change of key introduces a short quotation for the Polish National Anthem - Mazurek Dbrowskiego. This fades and you can hear thesignal to scramble and the throaty sounds of the squadron’s Merlin engines bursting into life before they line up to take off. This leads to the main thematic material of the work, which depicts the heaven-bound flight of 303 Squadron as it climbs tointercept the incoming Messerschmitt 109s. A brief allusion to the Polish national anthem brings the piece to a triumphant close.
The Way to Heaven<+O> is geschreven in opdracht van de Britse Royal Air Force Music Services.
The Way to Heaven wurde von den Royal Air Force Music Services in Auftrag gegeben. Mal.
$27.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks
