Das Da pacem, Domine schrieb ich im Jahr 1982 zunachst fur funf Chore, Orgel und Gemeinde. Ich widmete es dem Gedenken der barbarischen Sprengung der Leipziger Universitatskirche durch den Beschluss des Politburos der SED und die darauffolgende Entscheidung der damaligen Universitatsleitung. Bei der Urauffuhrung auf der Sommerreise des Leipziger Vokalkreises liess ich mich durch Michael Glaser vertreten, da ich zur selben Zeit die Chance hatte, am Mozarteum in Salzburg einen Dirigierkurs zu belegen.Da das Werk den Chorsangern etwas Muhe machte, nannten sie es Strapazem.
