Renaissance Rock and Courtly Dance, two contrasting selections, are optional beginning recorder features that can by played with or without the solo recorder part. Both compositions are also published separately for string orchestra (Kjos-SO241). The concert band and the string orchestra versions can be performed together. The regal selection is based on the William Byrd song, The Earle of Oxford's Marche. Dating from the late 1500s, this stately work is the perfect opportunity to incorporate interdisciplinary studies about Renaissance court life to your classroom.
