Real-Pop bestaat uit vijf verschillende delen, die diverse aspecten van Japan weergeven. Yokohama City Rock is een moderne ouverture en Wintertime is een kleine ballad. Super Ski verklankt daarna de Japansewintersport en Lovely China Girl beschrijft een verlegen meisje uit China dat toekijkt bij het Japanse wintervertier. Dan volgt nog Techno Party, een modern dansfeest. Een sfeervol werk vol afwisseling!

In Real-Pop führt uns Kees Vlak in fünf Sätzen durch das moderne Japan. Der Großstadt Yokohama ist die moderne Ouvertüre gewidmet. Einen reizvollen Kontrast dazu bildet der zweite Satz, eine Ballade über den stillen Winter im Norden des Archipels. Satz drei handelt vom in Japan sehr beliebten Wintersport Skifahren; an der Skipiste begegnet uns auch das schüchterne chinesische Mädchen aus dem vierten Satz. Computer ähnliche Techno-Klänge im fünften Satz stehen für das technisch fortschrittliche Japan. Eine spannende Reise für Musiker und Publikum!

Real-Pop è un brano in cinque movimenti ciascuno dei quali dipinge un aspetto particolare del Giappone: Yokohama City descrive il fermento del porto di Yokohama, Wintertime è l’eco della serenit delle genti del nord, Super Ski ci accompagna sulle piste da sci, Lovely China Girl racconta la storia di una ragazza di origine cinese. Nell’ultimo movimento assistiamo ad una serata alla moda con il sottofondo di musica techno.

The introductory theme of this composition echoes the majestic size of the mountains that are visible from the picture-postcard Cortina d’Ampezzo—the so called Queen of the Dolomites. Then we hear a lyrical theme, in which we feel the peacefulness of the surrounding countryside. We can even hear the hustle and bustle of the popular ski resort, before the two opening themes return in reverse order to bring this musical sight-seeing excursion to a close.

Jacob de Haan neemt ons mee naar de majestueuze bergen rondom het schilderachtige Italiaanse bergdorp Cortina d’Ampezzo, ook bekend als de koningin van de Dolomieten. Het beginthema verbeeldt de imposante rotsformaties die je rondom je ziet in Cortina. Dan klinkt een lyrisch thema, refererend aan het vredige berglandschap van deze contreien. Ook de bedrijvigheid van het geliefde wintersportdorp weerklinkt in deze mooie compositie. Beide thema’s komen nog één keer terug in omgekeerde volgorde om tenslotte dit muzikale panorama te besluiten.

Im Eingangsthema dieser Komposition hallt die majestätische Größe der Bergformation wider, die vom malerischen Cortina d’Ampezzo - der so genannten Königin der Dolomiten“ - aus sichtbar ist. Dann erklingt ein lyrisches Thema, in dem der Frieden der umliegenden Berglandschaft zu spüren ist. Auch die Betriebsamkeit des beliebten Wintersportortes ist zu hören, bevor die beiden Eingangsthemen in umgekehrter Reihenfolge den musikalischen Rundblick beenden.

L’œuvre s’achève avec les sons grandioses du motif initial, qui exprime nouveau la beauté imposante de la couronne montagneuse.

Cortina d’Ampezzo è anche chiamata “la regina delle Dolomiti” per la bellezza mozzafiato del suo paesaggio. Cortina è la meta obbligatoria invernale di VIP italiani ma anche di molti turisti desiderosi di affrontare le splendide piste d’inverno e gli innumerevoli sentieri per indimenticabili passeggiate d’estate. La musica di Jacob de Haan riflette la sublime bellezza dei paesaggi ed è un vero omaggio alla natura.

Concertino was commissioned by SeI!rgio Carolino (Principal tuba, Orquestra SinfoI!nica do Porto, Portugal) for premiere with the Banda SinfoI!nica Portuguesa, under the artistic direction of Francisco Ferreira. SeI!rgio Carolino is an extremely diverse and inquisitive performer, with forays into jazz, funk and duets with a DJ to his credit. To take advantage of this, one of the aims of Concertino is to give this unique performer an opportunity to showcase a varied palette of skills within a symphonic band setting. Andrew Batterham has often assimilated several different musical languages into his work, and so the journey from traditional wind band music, through funk and jazz improvisation, to dance modern styles was an exciting one.
The piece is divided into two halves. The first is couched in a Classical, common-chord musical language, developing traditional material in a slow, soulful way. The second half develops the same material, but utilising beat-oriented styles such as funk and techno, resulting in a varied musical canvas upon which the soloist can express themselves in spectacular fashion.

‘Al centro c’è il suono’ propone un percorso finalizzato allo sviluppo percettivo del bambino di età compresa tra i sei e gli otto anni. Il metodo è stato pensato per i corsi di propedeutica interessati alla formazione musicale globale del bambino, ma può essere anche utilizzato nelle scuole elementari per lo svolgimento dei programmi di Educazione al suono e alla musica. Questo quaderno suggerisce soprattutto un percorso di esperienze riguardanti i primi approcci con i suoni e con la musica. Si occuperanno di approfondire la formazione musicale dell’allievo gli altri quaderni della collana, come Il flauto dolce per la formazione melodica, Astam blan, per la formazione ritmica e inoltre le raccolte di partiture, i quaderni sull’ascolto e quello sulla voce.

Nella presente pubblicazione si propongono diverse attività che hanno tutte l’obiettivo di conoscere, riconoscere, analizzare e produrre il suono nell’ambito dei diversi piani descrittivi, che comunemente definiamo i parametri del suono: timbro, intensità, durata e altezza.
Nelle pagine del quaderno troviamo attività legate all’esplorazione e alla manipolazione del suono che valorizzano lo spontaneo atteggiamento di ricerca e di scoperta comune all’esperienza di tutti i bambini. Questa pratica viene riproposta nell’attività didattica e nei giochi legati alla produzione del suono, alla percezione, all’esecuzione, all’improvvisazione, all’invenzione, fino al rapporto suono-segno.
Il quaderno non affronta la lettura e la scrittura del codice convenzionale. Le produzioni sonoro-musicali utilizzano come notazione codici di tipo analogico. Per l’apprendimento di brani musicali da eseguirsi con strumenti intonati e non, si fa ricorso alla trasmissione orale.
Un importante supporto per la memorizzazione di sequenze ritmiche e/o melodiche è il linguaggio verbale. In più occasioni si propone di utilizzare con i bambini questo mezzo per fare memorizzare e riprodurre con gli strumenti brevi sequenze ritmiche e melodiche. Questa pratica sarà inoltre utilizzata per gli interventi con strumenti o gesti-suono previsti nelle attività di ascolto e per la realizzazione di semplici partiture.
Oltre al linguaggio verbale, sono presenti nelle proposte collegate alla percezione e alla produzione del suono anche altri linguaggi come quello gestuale, motorio e grafico, che, quando sono messi in relazione con i suoni e la musica, ne permettono l’interpretazione e la rappresentazione.

The Baron of Dedem once ruled over a large plot of peat in the Netherlands. 1809 saw the beginning of the construction of a canal to transport this fuel, so important in those days. The canal was named after the Baron, as was the nearby village. This work describes the establishment of the canal and the village, but also life in the region nowadays, thereby setting a slice of Dutch life to music.

Met The Baron of Dedem verklankt Wittrock op bijzondere wijze een mooi stukje Nederlandse geschiedenis. Baron van Dedem heerste 200 jaar geleden over een aanzienlijk gebied waar turf werd gewonnen. Toen begin negentiende eeuween groot kanaal werd gegraven om deze brandstof te vervoeren, kreeg deze vaart de naam Dedemsvaart mee. Ook een nabijgelegen dorp kreeg deze toepasselijke naam. Dit werk beschrijft het ontstaan van het kanaal en het dorp. Maarook staat het hedendaagse leven op en rond de vaart centraal. Dit werk werd speciaal geschreven ter gelegenheid van het tweehonderdjarig jubileum van Dedemsvaart.
