SATB vocal soli, SATB choir, 3 oboes, bassoon, 3 trumpets, timpani, 2 violins, viola, basso continuo SKU: CA.3114909 Cantata for St. Michael. Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Edited by Ingrid Jach. Arranged by Paul Horn. This edition: urtext. 1x 31.149/21 oboe 1, 1x 31.149/22 oboe 2, 1x 31.149/23 oboe 3, 1x 31.149/24 bassoon, 4x 31.149/31 trumpet/timpani. Stuttgart Urtext Edition: Bach vocal. German title: Man singet mit Freuden vom Sieg. Sacred vocal music, Cantatas, Special days. Set of Orchestra Parts. BWV 149. Duration 22 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 31.149/09. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3114909). ISBN 9790007208554. Key: D major. Language: German/English. Text: Henrici (Picander), Christian Friedrich. Text: Christian Friedrich Henrici (Picander). In composing the Cantata BWV 149 Bach reverted to parts of an earlier work: The opening chorus is a parody of the Jadgkantate BWV 208 (Hunting Cantata). In addition to smaller changes which were made necessary due to the text, Bach used trumpets instead of horns. For this purpose he transposed the movement from F major to C major. Musically, the form of the three arias and their instrumentation is rich in variety. The bass aria (2nd mvt.) is characterized by an active continuo accompaniment. After the secco recitative an extended dance like soprano aria with string accompaniment follows. The third aria (6th mvt.) is impressive due to the animated melody and the forming of a canon between the voices, and especially through the entry of the bassoon as the instrumental counterpart to a duet between the alto and tenor. | Brindisi from 'La Traviata' [Score] - Easy G and M Brand Music Publishers
Soloist(s) with Concert Band (Flute 1, Flute 2/Piccolo, Oboe, Bb Clarinet 1, Bb ...(+)
Soloist(s) with Concert Band (Flute 1, Flute 2/Piccolo, Oboe, Bb Clarinet 1, Bb Clarinet 2, Bb Clarinet 3, Solo Bb Clarinet or Cornet (or soprano voice), Solo Bassoon or Euphonium (or baritone voice), Alto Saxophone 1/2, Tenor Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone, Bb Trumpet/Cornet 1, Bb Tru) - grade 3 SKU: CN.S11130 Clarinet or Cornet Feature. Composed by Giuseppe Verdi. Arranged by Geoffrey Brand. Band Music. Score only. Duration 3:00. Published by G & M Brand Music Publishers (CN.S11130). This duet feature for Bb Clarinet (or Trumpet) and Bassoon (or Euphonium) is a merry drinking song from Verdi's opera La Traviata. Geoffrey Brand cleverly left the arrangement in the original key of B-flat so that it may be performed with soprano and baritone soloists and even a chorus if you so choose.
Verdi's opera La Traviata (The Castaway) is based on the book 'The Lady of the Camelias' by Alexandre Dumas. It was first produced in Venice in 1853. The scene is a banquet room in the home of Violetta in Paris in 1700, where a great supper party is being held. Alfred Germont and Violetta Valery declare their love for each other, to the music of Brindisi - a drinking song - as the other guests join in the merriment and splendour of the evening. Since the key (concert Bb) and layout conform exactly to Verdi's score, a vocal score of 'La Traviata' can be used for soprano (Violetta) and baritone (Alfred) and, if available, a chorus can also be added. $7.50 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 3 to 4 weeks

Bach's B minor Mass is among the greatest and most ambitious works of all time. The various stages of composition of the Mass occupied the composer for over two decades: beginning with the Sanctus (1724), by way of the Missa of 1733, to the remaining movements of the Ordinary, which were composed during his last years. Thus the Mass, in its wealth of forms with arias, duets, as well as concertante and fugal choruses, displays the essence of Bach's skill and personal style. The greatest musical work of art of all times and all peoples (to quote the enthusiastic Hans Georg Nageli, who first edited the Mass in 1818) and one of the most demanding choral works in the repertoire is presented by Frieder Bernius, the Kammerchor Stuttgart and the Barockorchester Stuttgart in a stellar recording based on the principles of historical performance practice (Carus 83.211). First Plus Band (FPS). Set of Score and Parts. With Standard notation. 8+2+4+4+2+5+2+2+4+4+4+6+3+1+1+3+6+12+2 pages. Duration 1 minute, 36 seconds. Carl Fischer Music #FPS151. Published by Carl Fischer Music (CF.FPS151). ISBN 9781491152119. UPC: 680160909612. Everyone remembers the first time that they saw a snake. Though fascinating to some and terrifying to others, few animals are as universally mesmerizing. Composer Tyler Arcari has crafted a very fun piece making use of auxiliary percussion instruments to emulate a snake's hiss or ominous rattle. With very strong and interesting melodic material, and scored to make a developing band sound great, this piece is sure to be a favorite among students. Everyone remembers the first time that they saw a snake. The majority of people have a base fear of them, while others have a “heebie-jeebies†experience. We all know how the great explorer Dr. Indiana Jones felt about snakes, especially when he famously fell into a snake pit during Raiders of the Lost Ark. However you feel about snakes, a pit of them certainly sounds like an adventure.About the work:Snake Pit uses a lot of auxiliary percussion instruments. Some of these sounds are intended to subtly mimic the sounds that snakes make. The maraca in m. 4, of course, is a rattler’s call! The Chinese cymbal is intended to sound like the “hiss†of a not-so-friendly serpent. The eighth-note pattern at m. 9 is used throughout as a “creepy†effect using dynamic contrast so take care to emphasize this when present.I enjoy the gong as a “color†instrument in the band. I try to balance it with the low brass. Take care that at m. 42 the gong is not “front-and center†but more of a support for the nice accented chords in the low brass. Also, the trumpets can become spaced too much here. The accents are more for emphasis and less space. $60.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks

Published by Carl Fischer Music (CF.CPS243). ISBN 9781491158500. UPC: 680160917105. 9 x 12 inches. This setting of The First Noel begins with a percussion intro and dissonant chords that lead to a beautiful flute duet. The melody is freely adapted and at times, outright changed, to give this arrangement a very different sound. Using rhythmic motives, tone clusters, altered melodies and all the sounds available for a concert band, the piece takes the audience on a journey that leads to a statement of the original tune at m. 118. Everyone gets the melody at some point. After a chorale-like section, the composition returns to the fast and upbeat sounds of the beginning. Your musicians and audience will love this unique version of this old-time favorite. When performing this piece, start dark and mysterious and let the sounds crescendo through the introduction all the way to m. 21, the first statement of the hymn. Make sure you keep the tempo moving so the arrangement does not lose excitement. Keep the flute duet, and later the trumpet duet, nice and light. At m. 118, play a little slower and in a standard chorale style, being careful to let the flute and oboe voices be heard. Let the low voices have the reins at m. 126 as they play the melody. Pick the tempo back up to the original tempo at m. 145 and push to the end. The main thing is to match articulation throughout the band--at the beginning and at the end, think light accents and separation, and at the chorale section at m. 118, more legato. Keeping everyone on the same page with articulation will be the key to making a great performance.
